#FearAsRespect
“``And and when it does mean the word respect, and and this is this is just helpful to understand. The word respect means recognizing proper weight. So when you we we treat people with respect because we recognize the weight they carry. So we stand when the elderly enter the room. We say, yes, ma'am, or or no no, sir, whatever it is to show respect. We're recognizing the proper weight. And you you'll see as we get into this how that also basically means fear. It means fear. It's the same thing. And so why would a God of love want us to fear him? And the an answer is pretty simple. It's because God is holy, and it's because sin is not a safe thing to do. It's not safe for you. It's not safe for me. And the fear of the Lord is the thing I would say it's a gift that keeps us from sin, and it leads us to life with God. It leads us to life.”

#AbideNotSin
“And so spiritually speaking, if you're on solid ground, there's no fear in love. And that's the whole context of first John is that, are you abiding in him? First John three six, no one who abides in him keeps on sinning. What if I choose to keep on sinning? You're not abiding him. You're not standing on solid ground. You're actually near the edge. Yeah. You might be afraid. You you should be afraid. And if you're you're if you knew that cliff, if the fear of gravity is a blessing. It is a gift to keep you alive. And in the same way, the fear of God is a blessing and a gift to keep us alive because we don't recognize I mean, we do, but I I I pray to God that we see it more. That we the sin is death. It will destroy you. It will destroy you.”

#DontMakePeaceWithSin
“But looking at Jesus, that's that's that's the proof. That's the proof of how severe sin is. It brings death. If if if God would have just said, and I asked, okay, then well, then why did Jesus die? Sin is destructive. And if you hear me say anything in this, it's this, don't make peace with sin. Ask God for the fear of the Lord. And if you're living in sin right now, whether it's big or small, maybe you're constantly telling little lies just because it's more convenient. Or maybe you're living and sleeping with your boyfriend or girlfriend, whatever. And you've made peace with it. You're like, yeah, it's okay. Church, it is not okay. You're walking closer and closer to that edge. May the fear of the Lord dwell with us that we may live. The fear of the Lord leads to life. Hebrews ten thirty one says it is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the living God. Don't make peace with sin.”

#FearBuildsConfidence
“I love it. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life. It leads to life. Now in this scripture, it also said it is a strong confidence. Again, another what seems like contradiction. Sounds like sounds counterintuitive. How can you be strong confidence with fear? Usually, are opposites. But it is simply this, that rightly ordered fear makes you not afraid of anything else. I mean, it's it's it's kind of a common church phrase. You probably have heard it something like, if you fear God, you fear nothing else. You've probably heard that before. Now rarely is it lived out. But it is true. If you fear the Lord, you will not fear all these other list of fears that show up in our lives. Fear of rejection, fear of man, fear of losing control, fear of I mean, fill in the blank, whatever it is. Fear of literally losing your life.”
