And so you know what that means? And you Baptists are gonna love this. Some of you might wanna go and pop a nitroglycerin pill. There can be no personal kingdoms in the church at large, and there can be no personal kingdoms at Good Hope Baptist Church. Personal kingdoms are incompatible with the kingdom of God because one's preference leading to one's comfort are incompatible with Christ's suffering on the cross, which means it can never be about the one you see in the mirror. There can be no personal kingdoms. We are subjects of the king, the king of kings and lord of lords, and we serve at his pleasure.”

“So this is with men. So so men, fathers, let's suppose that one of you asked another group of men, how do I know if I'm proud? I'm picking on the guys here. And then the guys come back and say, well, notice how often you're offended. How often do am I proud? That to the degree that you're constantly offended is an indicator of how proud you are. Because if everything's always upsetting you, pride is slipping in. And so pride says, it's about me. Humility says, how can I step in and consider others better than me so I can serve the Lord as I'm serving them? It's altogether a different heart, and that's what Paul is saying. How can I serve the Lord not that it is about me? And then finally,”

“We we look beyond ourselves. We saw that there in verse four, says everyone, dads, moms, someday dads and moms, everyone should look not only to your own interest, his own interest, you gotta look to those, but rather to the interest of others. Obviously, Paul is not saying that you you have to take care of yourself. He's not denying that. But we have to look to the interest of others. Paul does not forbid self care. In fact, we're told to take care of our self elsewhere in scripture, so he can't be forbidding that. But what he's forbidding is self centered living. You see, the gospel turns one's eyes outward.”

“So I wanna break these down. So first of all, what we see here is there is an encouragement in Christ and who doesn't need encouragement in the world in which we live? Now believers are comforted because, first of all, because Jesus saves sinners. I mean, that should comfort us because if you recall a while back, I talked about our eternal inheritance and I said the gross domestic product of the entire world was $95,000,000,000,000 and our inheritance supersedes and it lasts for eternity. So we are encouraged in Christ because Jesus saves sinners. We deserve judgment, but but but Jesus gave us mercy. We deserve separation, but Jesus gave us reconciliation, the peace between mankind and God.”
