#DiscernByFruit
“``And Jesus just doesn't warn us, he equips us. He gives us a simple observable tool for discernment. He says, look at their fruit. Healthy trees bear healthy fruit. Diseased trees bear diseased fruit. It's not about your charisma, it's not about your your your popularity, it's about your character, it's about your conduct, it's about your doctrine, it's about the long term influence that you have in steering people back to Christ. The fruit of the spirit exposes what appearances try to hide, so Jesus calls you to watch for patterns, not impressions, to evaluate teachings by scripture, not personality, and to cultivate the truth of the fruit of the of the spirit personally, so you're not vulnerable to false truths.”

#WatchForWolves
“Jesus closes this section of the sermon on the mount by reminding us that that his people are not left unprepared. He tells us plainly that false teachers are real, they're present, and they're active. They don't arrive snarling, they arrive in sheep's clothing with familiar language, with comforting tones, and they might even have some good notable quotables from scripture. But deception rarely looks dangerous at first. It looks safe, it looks friendly, it looks helpful. But the longer you are allowing yourself to fall into that trap of deception, the further you are going away from Christ, isolating yourself from Christ. So Jesus prepare you prepares you not to fear the wolves, but to recognize their disguise and to anchor yourself in his word.”

#SpiritLedDiscernment
“This is not something that you need to be passive about. Being a Christian does not mean, oh, well, I just get to veg out. I just show up, I went to church, obviously, it's church, so I guess it's fine. Spiritual. I'm on team Jesus. Hashtag Jesus. I showed up and I helped out at the function where we were serving people. Hashtag Jesus. You have to be a disciple to make a disciple, and God is telling his disciples to be warned about these false teachers. He's saying that God's people must practice spirit led discernment, not culturally led discernment, not what, you know, pastor so and so says a real Christian should be or what someone says that a real Christian should be. What does the spirit say? What is the spirit guiding you to in discernment? And that should line up with what it says in scripture because a genuine spiritual fruit always reveals the root.”

#ScriptureOverStatus
“God doesn't overlook those who mislead his people or distort his word or exploit his flock. That's why it's so important to us to teach expositionally just to go back to the word and allow the the God's word to speak into the moment instead of letting the moment speak into God's word. Church is not left vulnerable. Discernment is not guesswork. You have the resource. Maybe you have it on your phone. I don't know where you have it, but you have the resource. I know you have it. Jesus began with you will recognize them by their their fruits, not by their careers, but not by their giftedness, not by their popularity, not by their degrees, not by their pedigree, but by their fruit.”
