The true church is not a physical structure but the people of God, united in mission and purpose for Christ. Buildings and facilities are valuable tools for ministry, but they are not the essence of the church; rather, the church is formed by those who are committed to Christ and to one another, working together to fulfill His mission in the world. As you gather, remember that your identity as the church is rooted in your relationship with Jesus and your shared calling, not in any location or building. [26:31]
Matthew 18:20 (ESV)
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."
Reflection: In what ways can you intentionally build deeper relationships with others in your church community this week, focusing on being the church rather than just attending church?
Remaining true to the faith means holding fast to Christ and His message, even when faced with hardship or cultural pressure. The call to faithfulness is a call to allegiance and fidelity to Jesus, not shifting back to old ways or assimilating into the surrounding culture, but instead standing firm in the truth of the gospel. Just as the early believers were encouraged to remain steadfast, you are invited to renew your commitment to Christ, especially when following Him becomes difficult or unpopular. [33:32]
Acts 14:21-22 (NIV)
"They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. 'We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,' they said."
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are tempted to compromise your faith, and how can you choose to remain true to Jesus in that area this week?
The heart of the gospel is the good news that God saves—calling us to turn from worthless things and trust in the living God who desires relationship with us. The gospel is not about our goodness or achievements, but about God's grace and the saving work of Jesus Christ, who offers forgiveness and new life to all who believe. Take time to reflect on whether you have truly embraced this message, admitting your need, believing in Christ's sacrifice, and committing your life to Him. [42:24]
Acts 14:15 (NIV)
"Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them."
Reflection: Have you personally responded to the gospel by turning from self-reliance and trusting in Jesus alone for salvation? If not, what is holding you back from making that decision today?
Sharing the gospel is an urgent and essential calling for every believer, not just pastors or missionaries, and it can be done through everyday relationships and opportunities. Whether through conversation, acts of kindness, or simply being present in others' lives, you are called to spread the message of Jesus with intentionality and creativity, using the unique context and gifts God has given you. Consider how you might develop a strategy or take a practical step to share the good news with someone in your sphere of influence this week. [01:03:20]
Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Reflection: Who is one person in your life who needs to hear the gospel, and what specific step can you take this week to share Christ with them?
Faithfulness to Christ and His message will inevitably bring opposition, misunderstanding, or even rejection, but you are called to endure and remain steadfast. The spiritual battle is real, and sharing the gospel may sometimes result in friction with others or discomfort, yet God uses your perseverance to bring hope and truth to those around you. Trust that God has placed you where you are for a purpose, and ask Him for courage to stay true to the gospel, even when it is costly. [01:06:04]
2 Timothy 3:12 (ESV)
"Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted."
Reflection: When have you experienced resistance or discomfort because of your faith, and how can you rely on God’s strength to persevere in sharing the gospel despite challenges?
Today, we gathered to celebrate not just a new building, but the ongoing mission God has entrusted to us: to be His people, on His mission, in our community. The church is not a building—it’s the people of God, called together to live out and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Our new facility is a tool, a resource to help us reach more people, but the heart of our calling remains unchanged: to be faithful to Jesus and to His message.
Looking at Acts 14, we saw how Paul and Barnabas modeled this faithfulness. They believed the true gospel message, proclaimed it wherever they went, and endured hardship for the sake of Christ. Their story in Lystra is a vivid reminder that the gospel is not about us, our goodness, or our works—it’s about God’s goodness and His invitation to turn from worthless things to the living God. Paul’s healing of the lame man led to confusion among the people, who wanted to worship him and Barnabas as gods. But Paul redirected all attention to God, making it clear that the message is what matters: the good news that God saves, that He wants relationship with us, and that He alone is worthy.
Faithfulness to Jesus means faithfulness to His message. In a world where the gospel is often misunderstood, diluted, or mixed with other agendas, we are called to hold fast to the true message: that we are broken and sinful, unable to save ourselves, but God in His mercy has made a way through Jesus. Good works are important, but they are not the gospel—they set the stage for the message, but the message must be spoken.
We are also called to spread this message with urgency and intentionality. Paul and Barnabas had a strategy; they leveraged their backgrounds and opportunities to share Christ. We, too, must consider how God has positioned us—in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and relationships—to be bearers of the gospel. And we must be prepared to endure friction, opposition, and even rejection, knowing that spiritual lives are at stake and that the enemy will resist the advance of the gospel.
The challenge before us is simple but profound: believe the true gospel, spread it wherever we go, and endure whatever comes as we remain true to Jesus and His message. Each of us has a next step—whether it’s believing for the first time, sharing with someone this week, or standing firm in the face of difficulty. God has placed us here, now, for such a time as this.
Acts 14:8–22 (ESV) —
> 8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked.
> 9 He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,
> 10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.
> 11 And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”
> 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.
> 13 And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds.
> 14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out,
> 15 “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.
> 16 In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.
> 17 Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”
> 18 Even with these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.
> 19 But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
> 20 But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.
> 21 When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,
> 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.
The hardest thing that we ever do is sacrifice. And they sacrificed with joy. That was the main point of the message last week. What does it mean to sacrifice? It means to give away or to give up something valuable, something that's very costly to you. You give it up because you deem something else more valuable. [00:31:40] (22 seconds) #SacrificeWithJoy
This is not about us. You guys are confusing it. You're thinking it's about us and how good we are and all that kind of stuff. This is not about how good we are. This is about God. This is about how good God is. That's what this is about. And this message is for you. This message is a message we've received, is in essence what he's saying. This is a good message for you. And here's the message. Turn from these worthless things to the living God. [00:42:42] (29 seconds) #GodIsTheFocus
``Without words, people will misunderstand. Without us using words, people will misunderstand what we're all about. They'll think it's something else. They'll, like a dog chasing its tail is, in essence, what's going on here. And we see that in our day because there's confusion about what the gospel is. For some, it's bringing food to the poor. That's the gospel. Now, I'm not against bringing food to the poor. I think it's great. I think we should bring food to the poor. But it's not the gospel. Or they think it's some other kind act that the church does. And you might feel like I'm being nitpicky today. I'm not being nitpicky. The message of the gospel is crucial for us to understand. Good works set up the message. Good works are not the message. Good works without gospel words make us look good, not God. [00:44:40] (57 seconds) #WordsClarifyTheGospel
What we learn here and what we learn in acts and we'll continue to learn this in the next weeks to come is that spreading the gospel brings both fruit like like good things like oh some fruit i love fruit you know you eat it up but it also brings friction it also brings turbulence it also brings difficulty opposition will intensify because what we're talking about is a spiritual battle this is not just ideas and we're you know debating ideas this is the evil one hates it and will do anything possible to confuse people to misinform to make it about something that it's not that is absolutely what is at risk here and i just want you to think about this spiritual lives eternal lives are at risk they're at stake here in this this is what we believe this is what genesis was started on was the gospel to bring it to all people we believe exclusively that christ is the only way to heaven the only way to be reconciled with god the father. [00:59:22] (68 seconds) #FruitAndFrictionOfFaith

[01:00:54] (32 seconds) #ChooseTheTrueGospel
God has you here for such a time as this. Such a time as this. The world we live in, the struggle people are facing, the confusion that's out there, you are perfectly placed where you are to do Christ's bidding. Will you? [01:07:34] (20 seconds) #HereForSuchATime
