Keep praying and do not lose heart. That is the main purpose of Jesus' parable today. If you get anything out of today's message, I hope that it is this. Keep praying and do not lose heart. Tell the other person you didn't talk to yet, keep praying and do not lose heart.

It shows us that there's something within us, within the core of human heart that knows that there is something bigger than us, a higher being, someone who has divine control and can provide in a divine way for us.

And as we wait for his return, Jesus is calling us to be faithful and persistent in prayer. In order for us to really grasp what's going on here, I want to take a look at what happens right before Jesus tells this parable.

And this is the time that we're living in. We are living in the time when we ought to eagerly long for Christ's return. We have not yet seen it, and until that day, Jesus calls us to keep praying and to not lose heart.

We are spiritually poor and in need of his daily grace and mercy for his protection, for his guidance, for his perfect love to cast out fear. And during our previous sermon series on Kingdom Come, one of our guest speakers, Pastor Ryan, talked about how there is an opposing kingdom to the kingdom of God.

God joyfully and willingly hears your prayers. He delights in your prayers. He delights when his children come to him in prayer. And he says in verses seven to eight, And will not God give justice to his elect who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long? Over them, I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.

Prayer allows us to align our hearts with God's heart. And what does this parable tell us about the heart of God? It tells us that God loves his people and he hears our prayers. A judge who didn't fear God or respect people. Eventually gave into the widow's persistence. How much more readily and willingly will our God who loves his children?

Prayer is the fruit of faith. He's called us to pray in faith. It's the means by which we demonstrate faith. And as we pray, we grow in faith. It's saying, God, I trust you. And as you pray, God is going to increase your trust in the Lord.

And fourth, keep praying for the fullness of God's kingdom to come. This is, I think, one of the most important prayers that we can pray for Jesus taught us to pray. Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
