I believe it means that Jeremiah was not someone that you would expect God to choose as one of his prophets. He was not someone from a family that was prominent. He was from obscure Place called anoth right he was not the one you would expect God to choose to proclaim a difficult message to the people of Judah. [00:04:19]

God often chooses unexpected people to accomplish his will think about it um Abraham Abraham had no kids yet God called him to be the father of many nations amen said his descendants would would multiply and be greater than the star the number would be greater than the stars in the sky yet he had no kids. Interesting that throughout the 52 chapters in The Book of Jeremiah that follow in this book Jeremiah's words are continually equated with the Divine words of the Lord in fact what you're going to find as we read through Jeremiah is there's a phrase or a um some variation of this phrase that is continually used over and over again. Even when Jeremiah was treated terribly even when he was despised rejected persecuted by his own people friends even when he felt all alone he could stand and strong he could remain faithful through it all because he knew that what he had to say was from the Lord that it was the word that God had given him. We can stand strong we can remain faithful when we share the gospel friends we can be bold and courageous telling others what Christ has done for us what he can do for them friends because we know that it is the truth amen because we know that it is good news and we know that it is from the Lord. What Jeremiah has to say and about the prophecies that he has to say show that God's word Reigns Supreme Over Kings over kingdoms over rulers over powers of this Earth over anything else what God's word says will come true amen and we can stand on it we can stay faithful because friends when we allow God's words to be the words that we stand on. Jeremiah's Ministry lasted from the 13th year of Josiah's Reign all the way until Israel was carried away captive to Babylon over 40 years and through I know it only lists Three Kings there were two others that served very short Reigns we'll talk about here in just a minute briefly um and you'll if you read those background texts you'll find out a little bit more information about them. Jeremiah Faithfully proclaimed what God wanted him to say he Faithfully pointed out the people's sin he repeatedly called them to repentance warned them of God's judgment over and over again friends he even wept over them and steadily proclaimed the words of the Lord to them yet here's the thing about Jeremiah's Ministry after Josiah died after those reforms Jeremiah never saw any sign that his ministry was even slightly successful. [00:28:32]

Jeremiah was a success not in the eyes of the world right not in the eyes of the people of Judah probably not even in the eyes of his own family his own family rebelled against him if you will friends but he was a success in the eyes of God Amen God judges by a different standard than the world does we need to remember that Jeremiah was a success because he Faithfully proclaimed the word of God no matter what. Our responsibility friends is to share what Christ has done for us and what he can do for them amen and I I promise you listen maybe like Jer IAH you may share and you may share and you may talk to people about what God wants you to say to them and there may not be any response we still need to be faithful we still need to share in truth and in love amen. Success in the Lord's eyes is simply being faithful to share the word of God God to tell others about Jesus amen you may not know the impact that what you say has on people you know I got a text from a fellow Pastor in the area um it's been on a couple years ago now he texted me and said Pastor Scott he said I just wanted you to know that I just came back from a visit with a elderly lady who is on her deathbed.
