Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

1. "Wait on the Lord is more than the song, it requires so much faith to wait on God. And I'm going to make full observations in this passage. The first one being, I'm going to talk about the predicament that the person who wrote this was in. And then I'm going to talk about the posture that he took as a result of being in this predicament. And then I'm going to talk about the provision that he got while he was in this predicament. And then I'm going to talk about the purpose of God in all of it." 2. "See, I don't know who you are or where you are, but this is what I know. You're in something you're trying to get out of. Your relief is, let me get out. And God doesn't always work that way. God's trying to work something in the situation. And so, this is the predicament he's in, and it's a terrible predicament, but here's his posture in this predicament. He says, you know what I did? I waited. I waited. That's one of the hardest things for us to do." [05:09] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "Waiting on God takes a whole lot of trust, because God is powerful, but he doesn't move fast. Why? Because God's not on our time schedule. And we you wait on the Lord, because when we're waiting, we typically get frustrated when we're waiting on people. But you have to understand when you're waiting on the Lord, he's going to use people because even though he's the source, he uses people as a resource." 4. "When you're waiting on God, there will be other options to comfort you, to compromise. He says, I waited on the Lord and he heard my cry. Give me the, let me go to mine so I don't have to wait on you. And he, watch this, watch this. This is what I want to get to. Here's the provision. What did God do? First of all, he heard, but watch what he does here because this is going to mess you up. I need you to pay attention. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along." [14:43] (35 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5. "What I love about God is, is that he met him in the swamp. He says he lifted me up. But what I want you to understand here is that this is spiritual. When God says he picked me up, he picked me up. He picked me up. He picked me up. He picked me up. He picked me up out of this pit of despair. That's not physical. That's spiritual. Are y 'all with me? When it says he set my feet on solid ground, that's not physical. It's spiritual." [16:35] (19 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "Sometimes your haters can't even help, can't even handle what they're trying to throw you in. So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, verse 23 says, securely tied, fell into the roaring flames. So watch this. They are tied up, they are bound, and they fell into the flames. So they're bound and down. They're what? Bound and down. But suddenly, verse 24, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisors, didn't we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?" 7. "They were tied up when they got in the fire. They were down, but when Nebuchadnezzar saw them, they're up, untied, and walking around in the fire. See, the power of God is he can deliver you in something. Y 'all ain't ready. Y 'all ain't getting this. He can show his power right in a painful situation if you wait on him. If you wait on him, he'll show you how to see something different. And how does he show up? With his word, with his presence, with his power, with his provision, with his peace." 8. "Your pit is evangelistic. You know what that means? That people are watching you, and because they see you don't get bitter, you get better. Because they see you turn your suffering into service, they look at that and say, that's amazing. And they're going to put their trust in God because of you. See, I said last week, a lot of the things we go through aren't just about us." [34:34] (28 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
