#GraceWelcomesSinners
“``Boaz, think about it. He welcomed an outsider. Well, Jesus welcomed every sinner. He welcomes right now every sinner who comes to him and He came into our field actually. That's what Jesus did. You were a stranger. You were a stranger and God welcomed you and that's completely undeserving You don't deserve it. You couldn't earn it. Still he gives his love his way. This is sheer grace. This is the overwhelming love of God for us and even right now, he is making room for you at his table. And here's what Jesus does. He spreads his wings of protection over sinners. You could take refuge in him. The blood of Jesus Christ There's a cross hanging over my head. The blood of Jesus Christ was shed so that we could find refuge, final refuge forever under the wings of a merciful God.”

#ChangedNotCircumstances
“And it's important to note, God had not changed Naomi's circumstances. Still a widow? Still someone who's lost two sons? Still living with question marks about her future? But but here is what was changing. Her circumstances weren't changing, but God was beginning to change Naomi. Naomi is being changed. That's God's project. Not to change her circumstances to change her. And here's what begins. She begins to have a hopeful vision and and that's what an encounter with the Lord does. When God's steadfast love touches you, that's what it does.”

#ObedienceInOrdinary
“God's providence, in this case, does not eliminate Ruth's responsibility though. There's this interaction between us and God in this sense. But here's what happens. This providence gives it gives purpose to her obedience. And I believe this is one of the great lessons of the book of Ruth. Okay. Listen. Don't overlook the ordinary. Don't overlook the ordinary. Ruth didn't. Ruth didn't overlook the ordinary. She got up, she stepped into that field, and she walked into the harvest. Right? Trusting in God's word. She simply took the next faithful step. Do you hear that? The next faithful step. And the rest of the story here shows us what God does with that next faithful step.”

#LoveThatTransforms
“The refuge, Yeah, it changes where you spend eternity, but it doesn't only change where you spend eternity. It becomes this process. It begins this process of you changing, changing the kind of people that we become. So when we read about first John, first John three, when John writes, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth, he is expressing exactly what the Holy Spirit is doing. The spirit unites us to Christ. The the spirit conforms us to Jesus. And as he does, here's what happens. The steadfast love of of Jesus Christ takes on flesh among his people. This is how it works.”

#BeTheWings
“So spread your wing over us. It could be said that Ruth is saying here. Now, this is interesting. I'm sorry. Boaz had prayed that Ruth would find refuge under God's wings. We just read that in chapter two. And now, Ruth is asking Boaz, would you become a part of God's answer to that prayer? Do you see that? That's really interesting. Boaz prayed about the wings. Now, says, will you be the wings? This is really important.”

#Don'tJustAdmireAct
“People like this story though. People like these stories, and it is a pot it is possible again to spend years, decades of your life admiring the story. What a great story. And think about it and read it over and over again, but never ever allow yourself to become part of the story. So you could stand back and applaud Boaz, go Boaz, you go dude. What while never in your own life embracing a single Ruth, if you know what I mean. You could celebrate God's faithfulness and you can also remain totally unavailable for him to display it through your life.”

#GospelFamilyMakesRoom
“So this, everything we're looking at here, this is how a family becomes a family. People begin living like a family. That's how. Yeah, we notice one another and we make room for one another and we carry one another's burdens. The steadfast love of God then, it becomes undeniable, unmistakable when people make room for one another. Look how they love one another. That's a family. And here's what happens. People then, they begin to experience what a family shaped by the gospel actually looks like. And we do what families do. We make room because that's what Christ has done for us.”

#FormationForFaithfulness
“And so, know, we're calling this form for faithfulness. When we talk about being formed, when we talk about this, this is the kind of formation we are talking about. The Holy Spirit gives you eyes to see, and and the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom to respond, and the Holy Spirit gives you strength to become a part of God's answer to someone's prayers. I do want to talk about Boaz. You know, we it's really easy to see Boaz as heroic, but but we have to see beyond Boaz. You gotta see beyond Boaz because even Boaz, he can't be the final refuge. Right? He can't do that. And let me tell you, every act of covenant faithfulness that that you admire in Boaz is Only a reflection. It's only a reflection of the steadfast that has eternally Existed in the heart of God That's why you like boaz so much and in fact every beautiful thing that we admire in boas it finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.”
