Faithful Stewardship: Managing God's Gifts Wisely
Summary
In today's gathering, we focused on the profound concept of stewardship, emphasizing that everything we have is a gift from God. We explored the idea that we are not owners but stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us, including our time, talents, finances, relationships, and health. The essence of stewardship is rooted in the understanding that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and our responsibility is to manage these gifts wisely and faithfully.
We delved into the biblical perspective of stewardship, drawing from passages like Luke 12 and Psalm 24, which remind us that the earth and everything in it belong to the Lord. We are called to be faithful stewards, recognizing that our time, talents, and resources are not ours to hoard but to use for God's glory and the benefit of others. This requires a shift in mindset from ownership to stewardship, where we acknowledge that our lives and everything in them are ultimately God's.
We also discussed the importance of managing our time wisely, as highlighted in Ephesians 5:15-16, and the need to prioritize our spiritual growth and relationship with God. Our gifts and talents are not for self-glorification but to serve others and bring glory to God, as stated in 1 Peter 4:10. Relationships, too, are a vital area of stewardship, where we are encouraged to surround ourselves with people who provoke us to love and good works.
Furthermore, we touched on the significance of financial stewardship, emphasizing the biblical principle of tithing and the importance of using our resources to support God's work. Lastly, we addressed the often-overlooked area of health, reminding ourselves that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and should be cared for accordingly.
In conclusion, stewardship is about being faithful in the small things, using our gifts for God's glory, and recognizing that our ultimate reward is not earthly but heavenly. As we navigate our daily lives, let us strive to be diligent and trustworthy stewards, knowing that God is with us, guiding and empowering us to fulfill His purposes.

Day 1: Stewardship as Divine Trust
Stewardship is a profound concept that calls us to recognize that everything we have is a gift from God. We are not owners but stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us, including our time, talents, finances, relationships, and health. This understanding requires a shift in mindset from ownership to stewardship, where we acknowledge that our lives and everything in them are ultimately God's. Embracing this perspective helps us to be less possessive and more generous with what we have, using our resources wisely for God's glory and the benefit of others. [06:46]
"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers." (Psalm 24:1-2, ESV)
Reflection: What is one resource or talent you have been holding onto as your own? How can you begin to use it for God's glory and the benefit of others today?
Day 2: Time as a Sacred Resource
Time is a precious resource that should be used wisely. Ephesians 5:15-16 highlights the importance of managing our time well, urging us to prioritize our spiritual growth and relationship with God. Evaluating how we spend our time and making adjustments to ensure that God is at the center of our daily life is crucial. By doing so, we can ensure that our time is spent in ways that honor God and contribute to our spiritual development. [13:53]
"So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." (Psalm 90:12, ESV)
Reflection: How can you rearrange your daily schedule to prioritize time with God and spiritual growth? What specific changes can you make today?
Day 3: Gifts and Talents for Service
Our gifts and talents are not for self-glorification but to serve others and bring glory to God. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us to be diligent in developing and using our abilities to bless those around us and advance God's kingdom. Recognizing that our talents are entrusted to us by God encourages us to use them wisely and faithfully, not for personal gain but for the benefit of others and the glory of God. [21:13]
"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching." (Romans 12:6-7, ESV)
Reflection: Identify one talent or gift you have. How can you use it this week to serve someone in your community or church?
Day 4: Financial Stewardship as Worship
Financial stewardship is an essential aspect of honoring God with our resources. The biblical principle of tithing teaches us to use our finances to support God's work, understanding that money is a tool for His purposes. Managing our finances well can lead to greater blessings and opportunities to impact others positively. By practicing financial stewardship, we acknowledge that our resources are not ours to hoard but to be used for God's glory and the benefit of others. [31:51]
"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." (Proverbs 3:9-10, ESV)
Reflection: What is one financial decision you can make today to honor God and support His work? How can you begin to practice generosity in your daily life?
Day 5: Health as a Spiritual Responsibility
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to care for them. Prioritizing our physical health by making wise choices in diet and exercise enables us to serve God and others more effectively. Recognizing that good health is a form of stewardship encourages us to be mindful of how we treat our bodies, understanding that they are a gift from God to be used for His purposes. [40:07]
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple." (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, ESV)
Reflection: What is one change you can make in your diet or exercise routine to better care for your body as a temple of the Holy Spirit? How can this change enhance your ability to serve God and others?
Quotes
The role required integrity, wisdom, and accountability because the steward had to act on behalf of the master. So the concept of stewardship is reflecting a relationship of trust and responsibility between the steward and the owner. In the New Testament, it's described as the faithful and wise management of God's gifts and responsibilities. [00:04:08] (37 seconds)
We have to recognize that everything belongs to God. Our time, our relationships, our finances, even our health. We have been given the opportunity to steward over these things. And we cannot take it for granted. There's a passage in Luke chapter 12. And you can see in there if you have your Bibles, Luke chapter 12, going to read from verse 42 to verse 47. [00:04:57] (34 seconds)
And so we've been given our responsibility to steward. If we go back to the book of Genesis, we can think about Adam in the garden. He was given domain. He was given dominion and he was given a domain that he had to manage. And so he was a steward who had to steward it well. So we are not the owners. [00:06:55] (25 seconds)
James chapter 1 verse 17 says, every good gift and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of light, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. So I want you to live with a mindset of stewardship rather than ownership. [00:08:17] (27 seconds)
The scripture tells us in 1 Peter chapter 4, sorry, Ephesians chapter 5 verse 15 to 16, the writer talks about looking carefully how you walk, not as the unwise, but as wise, making the best use of your time, because the days are evil. People like to say, if I had more time, I would. [00:09:24] (32 seconds)
And so I remember talking to somebody at the time and they said, if I had more time, I would spend more time with God. How much time do you spend with the Lord? I spend about 5 to 10 minutes. Okay, no problem. So what about getting up earlier? You don't think that if it is you give God His time, He would strengthen you to go through the day? [00:09:56] (27 seconds)
When it comes to our giftings and talents, it is not for ourselves. God has given us gifts and talents in the church to be able to serve one another. We have to be good stewards of our gifts. Let me give an example. If you are on the worship team, let's take a train of stones. It will just be examples. [00:21:03] (29 seconds)
When it comes to our relationships, we have to be able to provoke and encourage one another to love and to good works. And coming to church and coming to assemble is one of the ways that we do that and see each other and encourage one another. There are some people who are isolated or they've isolated themselves and then say, Well, the church don't support or the church don't do certain things. [00:23:43] (27 seconds)
Now, when it comes to our finances, Proverbs chapter 3 verse 9 to 10 tells us, Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all you produce. Then your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will be bursting forth with wine. Malachi also tells us to bring our tithes into the storehouse. [00:31:51] (26 seconds)
If God has a plan and a design for your life, and he has a plan for you to do something at the age of 50, if all you're eating is KFC and you're not exercising and eating oily foods and only eating a lot of sugary foods, chances are reaching to 50 could be a challenge. Now, we have plenty of believers who like to think that, well, God will heal me. [00:40:42] (28 seconds)
