#GodFirstPerspective
“Oh, come on, church. Daniel had to pass the culture test. You know what I love about the book of Daniel? I I love the title of the book of Daniel. Who's the book of Daniel about? Daniel. What's that mean? He never took the name they gave him. Like, you can call me Belteshazzar, but my name's Daniel, and it's gonna stay Daniel. This is like our our our high schoolers, our university students in the room today. It's like, you can tell me to answer from a science first perspective or a man first perspective, but I'm still gonna answer from a God first perspective. Because you can tell me what you want me to do, but I know who my god is. I know how I'm gonna talk. I know how I'm gonna live my life. I live my life from a god first perspective. I'm here to make a dent in this generation, not to coast along in it and have no one notice me. I'm gonna pass the culture test.”

#RemainAndMultiply
“No. You say, of all the times and places and seasons and cultures and cities that God could have put me in, he chose to put me here. Why? Because God wants to make a dent in this place. God wants to make a dent in my generation. God wants God wants to impact this region. Yeah. And I don't know how many years from now it's gonna be, but but I believe there's a day coming where someone's gonna be on a road trip through Vancouver, and they're gonna be driving with their family, and they're gonna say, hey, mommy and daddy. Why are there so many Christians here? Yeah. And their mommy and daddy are gonna say because there were some people that remained.”

#ChangeCultureNotJoinIt
“Maybe you'd say, you know, when it comes to where am I gonna live and what house am I gonna buy, like, don't really even consult God. Or if you're thinking about how I'm gonna spend my day and what am I gonna do with my time, and I don't really ask God in the morning what I'm supposed to do with my day. It's just whatever I wanna do, and hopefully God comes along and blesses it. And God how many know God in his grace brought us here today to walk us back to a God first identity? God, it's you. You control my steps. You're you're you're leading me. Today, Vancouver Christians, Vancouver area Christians, the question that we need to answer, and ultimately, the test we've gotta pass is this, is culture changing you or are you changing culture? When people come along a hundred years from now, long after we're gone, will they look at the dent that we made in this generation, or will we just kinda drift along with culture and leave it how we found it?”

#FaithInTheUnexpected
“What do you do when life suddenly looks unexpected? of you right now, you're in a season that you did not see coming. You didn't see pain in your marriage coming. You didn't see pain in your body coming. You didn't see the pain of that betrayal and that ruptured relationship coming. You didn't see the financial stress coming. You didn't see the pressures that are on you today coming. And what can happen is when you find yourself in an unexpected season, there is a temptation to think, if I'm going through this, then God must not be with me. But what I've learned and what I've noticed through reading my bible and through my own personal life is that what happens is it's it's often in these times when we're going through the unexpected saying, how could god be with me if I'm going through this? It's often in the trial that god is preparing a miracle. Amen. And you and I have to pass the test of what do you do in the unexpected.”

#ExcellentSpiritAlways
“Where you'd say, doesn't matter who my boss is, I show up to work with an excellent spirit. You don't shape my attitude. My god shapes my attitude. I'm gonna live from an excellent spirit. I might not have yet gotten the promotion. I in fact, I might have been overlooked. But I don't need your promotion to determine my spirit. My spirit determines my promotion. And whether you promote me or not, eventually, my god has ways of promoting me because I'm gonna live with an excellent spirit. Daniel distinguishes himself with an excellent spirit, and he passes the test of remaining because Daniel stays faithful to God in Babylon through ungodly king after ungodly king after ungodly king.”

#FaithNotWorks
“Maybe you're in the room today and the miracle you need in your life is the salvation mercy of god. The Bible's so clear. We're not saved by our own goodness or the step that we do for god. We're saved by the mercy of God through the cross of Jesus Christ and what God's already done for you. Jesus went to the cross to live a perfect life, die a sinner's death, the very son of God. Why? So that your past could be forgiven and you could have an abundant faith filled, hope filled future, not just in this life, but in eternity with God. If you're in the room today and you'd say, I don't I don't know that relationship with God. I don't have that. I'm not living it. That's the miracle that can happen in your life in a moment because of the goodness of God. How do you experience that? Faith. Faith, not your works, your faith to say I believe. That's what God did”

#KeepGodFirstIdentity
“And so what what they would do is not only would they take them away from their family and their home and their nation, they would seek to change their identity by giving them new names. Daniel's Hebrew name, Daniel, means God is my judge. But this Babylonian name that they wanted to give him, Belteshazzar, means protect the king. Do you do you see it? The the shift they're trying to make in Daniel's life and his identity? They're wanting to make a shift from a God first perspective to a man first perspective. From God is my judge to I gotta protect the king. It's God first to man first, and it's twenty five hundred years since Daniel, and culture is still trying to do the same thing in our kids. Take them from a god first perspective to a me first perspective, to a people first perspective, to a science first perspective, from god first to anything else perspective.”

#StayAndServe
“because Daniel stays faithful to God in Babylon through ungodly king after ungodly king after ungodly king. Because when you find yourself in Babylon and nothing looks like you expected it to look, you've got two options, give up or dig in. When you find yourself in Vancouver, in a culture far from God, in a culture drifting away from God, in a culture preaching a message that is the opposite in many ways of God's message for your life, you got a couple options. Give up or dig in. Daniel Daniel chose to dig in and be faithful with ungodly king after ungodly king and say, hey. Just because it's hard doesn't mean that that's not where I'm called to be.”
