Being Faithful in a Faithless World

Luke 18:8 puts the question right in front of the church: when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith? Faithless society is not the final word, because God is still calling faithful people to believe what cannot yet be seen. Faith moves in the realm of the Spirit, casting care on God and trusting him beyond what hands can touch and eyes can measure.

God is always responding to faith, and that faith leads to faithfulness. Second Chronicles 16 says the eyes of the Lord search across the whole earth, looking for hearts that are turned toward him so he can show his great power. God is not looking for perfect people. God is looking for faithful people, faithful in family, work, church, finances, and calling.

Faithfulness becomes the key to victory and blessing. First John 5 says faith gives victory over the world, because faith begins with believing Jesus is the Son of God, crucified, risen, and seated at the right hand of the Father. A diagnosis, a delay, or a hard report does not get to define a life when faith keeps believing God for bigger and greater things. Faith without works is dead, so real faith also works, serves, redirects, trains, and keeps going.

Luke 16 shows that God uses little things to test integrity. Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones. Little paychecks, small assignments, borrowed spaces, church responsibilities, and other people’s things all become tests of stewardship. Shortage becomes another test of generosity. Money can become a master, but Luke 16 says worldly resources can be used for eternal purposes. True riches are connected to trust, and generosity loosens the grip of fear, comfort, and control.

Faithful people also bring friends to Jesus. Matthew 9 shows Jesus seeing the faith of the friends who carried the paralyzed man. Second Timothy 2 shows faith being passed through generations, from one life to another, until others are able to teach also. Suffering is not wasted when faith stays surrendered.
