John records Jesus leaving Samaria after two days and heading into Galilee, the place where Isaiah said light would shine in a dark region. Jesus goes home knowing that a prophet has no honor in his own country. Familiarity can foster contempt instead of conversion, especially among family members who know the human side of a believer and struggle to see the work of God.

Jesus still calls His people to begin witnessing where they already are. Family witness is hard because those closest can see every inconsistency, and light does not naturally fellowship with darkness. God alone can turn a difficult home into a place where the Word is heard. Faithful witness sometimes begins when a believer stops being a jerk for Jesus, prays more, grows up, and lets God change the heart.

John says the Galileans “received” Jesus because they had seen His works in Jerusalem. Reception, however, is not always salvation. True faith is proven at a finish line, not merely at an altar call. Shallow soil can receive the Word with joy and still fall away. Doctrine can be perfectly correct while surrender remains completely absent.

The royal official comes from Capernaum because his son is at the point of death. His faith brings him to Jesus, but his expectations remain too small. The official asks for Jesus’ presence, telling Him to come down and heal the child. Jesus gives him something different: “Go, your son lives.” The father receives the healing he wanted, but not the visit he demanded.

Jesus shifts the man from dependence on sight to dependence on His Word. Miracles can introduce faith, but they cannot become the foundation of faith. Sparrow faith trusts the Father without demanding to see where the feet will land. Impala faith refuses to move unless the landing spot is visible.

The father believes Jesus’ word and starts home. His servants confirm that the fever left at the exact hour Jesus spoke. Signs cannot save, but they point to a Savior. Jesus proves authority over time by turning water into wine and authority over space by healing a dying boy from twenty miles away. Unbelief, not distance or circumstance, keeps God’s people from entering into all He has promised. Persistent prayer keeps seeking until God makes His will clear, because the deepest work is not merely the thing requested, but the relationship God is forming.

Paul writes in first Corinthians 15 the gospel. Here's the gospel. He lays it out. He said, which you received by which you're saved if you abide, if you hold fast, unless you believed in vain. In other words, it's possible to believe the right things, but not onto a genuine salvation. Many who have a testimony that they have received Christ still suffer from a defective shallow faith.”

A year later, only 5% were walking with the lord. 95 were not. 95% out of a 100 were not.
