#JoyInTrials
“That's the mindset of James chapter one verse two. Consider it joy when you face a trial because you know what's coming. Listen, there's nothing in scripture that says, you should consider a trial joy because you love being there. Just not. It doesn't say that you should make sure you consider this joy because you love making sacrifices and not having what you want and giving this up and giving this up and giving this up and going through the pain. Nobody ever says, hey, let's be happy because of that. He says, you should consider it joy because of what's coming and our hearts should be wrapped around. I want to be as much like Jesus as I can be. Want to follow him as closely as I can possibly follow him and we're not going to get to that point without walking through some trials.”

#FollowMeAgain
“And we do the exact same stuff. And it's not until we see the story in John 21 verse 15. We're not going to look it up but that's when we see in the beginning through a breakfast on the beach. Jesus begins to restore Peter to his ministry. And we see them have that conversation. Do you love me? Do you love me? Do you love me? All these things and then Jesus says to him, the same thing he said to them at the very beginning of the deal which was two words and what would they be? Anybody? Follow me. That's what he says. all the men of I don't know that guy. I don't know that guy. All the brokenness, all of that that took those three days that he's in the tomb. All of that that Peter was already thinking and Jesus restores him and says, listen, back to the beginning, fresh new start, new mercies every day, follow me.”

#MercyNotMerit
“It's what it's what Peter says to them last week. He says, remember, as we begin this letter, as we start this thing, I want you to see that god through his mercy. Remember, we talked about that everything is because of his mercy. We don't have any of the blessings from god because we did something great. We are blessed with our salvation. We're blessed with three with forgiveness. We're blessed with all those things and it's kept in heaven because of how good god is, not because of how good you and I are. Y'all with me on that one? So, as long as we understand that but but I want you to remember that. This is what we learned last week. It's all through his mercy.”

#TrialsProveFaith
“So, he says to them, why why are these struggles coming your way? Why why are these trials allowed in our lives? There's two reasons that he gives and and there's plenty of talk in scripture about trials and struggles and we'll get some of that but right here, he says, two reasons. One, is to prove your faith. To prove your faith is genuine. Number one, deal that your faith may be proved genuine. So, here's what that means. We look at our struggles as, well, god's just trying to grow me. If I make it through the struggle, I'm just, it's it's just part of growing. God is trying to grow me. He's trying to grow me and he's trying to make, here's the deal. God always wants you to grow but what he says through scripture is that the the trials that come are to prove your faith, not grow it.”

#KnowYourFaith
“And we're not rooting for that for anybody but that that's those are the questions that we ask. If the job doesn't come through that you're counting on coming through, is your faith strong enough to hold that? Has it ever been tested or proven? And we should know that about ourselves. We should want to know that about ourselves. But through that, we get challenged, we get a struggle, we get something different in our lives that we have to overcome. So, as you think about your faith and where you stand in that and what that looks like, I want you to understand this, the the thing that that we we have to grasp today is that you won't get an understanding of how strong your faith is until there's a challenge to prove it.”

#MercyAfterTrials
“And then thirty years later, Peter writes a letter and the first thing that letter says is, listen people, it's all about his mercy. Now, I would have to say that Peter wouldn't write that letter the same before that moment Peter had to learn and some of us have to walk through some struggle and walk through some trial to have proven where we are in our faith. For Peter, it was proven to him that his faith was not yet what he thought it was.”

#InexpressibleJoy
“And I'm just wondering how many of us would even say in the last year of our life, we had a a day of inexpressible Have we had a moment of god, you are so awesome. I cannot stop telling people about you. Are we missing that part? Are we walking through the trials and the struggles going, yes, just getting beat up again today. We're going to try it. It's a mindset shift. It's gotta change before we can move on to what god wants us to do because you're going to go through struggles. Might not be today. You might not be in a struggle right now. You might be the three or four people in the room like, no, I'm I'm really pretty good. That's okay. Don't feel guilty about that. Don't go home today and look for a struggle. But you know what? We all go through em when necessary to prove where we stand and when we know where we stand, we know how we can grow and move forward. And if the goal is to grow and move forward, then the joy comes through the struggle.”

#FaithRevealed
“``What's that mean? It means this, this is a Goosebump quote for the week. It says, our faith is not tested because god doesn't know how much faith we have. It's tested because we don't know how much faith we have. God knows exactly how much faith you have. God's not looking at you Chris going, I wonder how much faith Chris got today. God's going to allow something in your life to show you how much faith you have so that you'll know it, not him. Why is that important? Because it shows us where we stand. Like, think about your faith. Is your faith right now the type of faith that could take you through a tough, tough trial? Man, if everything in the, if if Job's story happened to you right now, is your faith strong enough to make it through that and say, okay, god, I trust you. Do with me what you will.”
