Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Even when the path ahead is blocked by obstacles and uncertainty, faith means trusting that God is working, even when you cannot see the outcome. The stories of those who have gone before us—Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses—remind us that it is by faith that we move forward, not by sight. When you are facing your own Red Sea, remember that God calls you to keep going, believing that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. [07:40]
Hebrews 11:1-3 (NKJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Reflection: What is one area of your life right now where you cannot see the outcome, but God is calling you to trust Him and take the next step anyway?
When the Israelites stood between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, they were exactly where God had told them to be—even though it looked impossible. Sometimes, being in the center of God’s will means facing overwhelming challenges, but God’s presence does not leave you exposed. He goes before you and stands behind you, protecting and guiding you through the trial. Even when fear and doubt rise up, God’s promise is that He will fight for you and see you through to the other side. [15:25]
Exodus 14:13-14 (NKJV)
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Reflection: When you feel surrounded by problems, how can you remind yourself today that God is both your defender and your guide?
God’s instruction to the Israelites at the Red Sea was simple but profound: “Go forward.” Even when the way seems blocked and fear tempts you to turn back, God calls you to take a step of obedience. It is in moving forward, even with trembling faith, that you see God’s power at work. Don’t let fear, doubt, or the voices of the past hold you back—take the step God is asking of you, and trust that He will meet you there. [23:47]
Exodus 14:15-16 (NKJV)
And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”
Reflection: What is one step of obedience God is asking you to take today, even if you feel afraid or uncertain?
The Red Sea was not just a path to freedom for the Israelites; it was also the place where God defeated their enemies. The things that pursue and accuse you—fear, shame, the lies of the enemy—can be drowned out by God’s power when you trust Him to fight for you. Instead of turning back or trying to fight in your own strength, let God use your current challenge to silence the voices that would hold you captive. [31:40]
Exodus 14:21-25 (NKJV)
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided. So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
Reflection: What negative voices or accusations do you need to let God silence in your life today, trusting Him to fight your battles?
Every day brings new challenges, and the temptation to go back or give up can be strong. Faith is not about copying someone else’s journey, but about daily seeking God, listening for His direction, and trusting Him to provide what you need for today. The journey through the Red Sea was unique, just as your journey is unique. God calls you to depend on Him daily, to fill up on His presence, and to keep moving forward, one step at a time. [34:43]
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV)
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Reflection: How can you intentionally seek God’s presence and guidance today, trusting Him for the strength and direction you need for this moment?
Life is full of challenges, and every one of us will face moments that feel insurmountable—our own “Red Sea” experiences. These are not a matter of “if,” but “when.” Jesus himself told us that in this world we will have trouble, but he also promised his peace and his victory. The key is not to avoid difficulty, but to have faith to go through it, trusting that God is with us every step of the way.
Faith is complete trust—where we place that trust shapes how we respond to life’s obstacles. Too often, we put our trust in things that cannot sustain us: social media, finances, our own strength. But true faith is anchored in God alone. The story of the Israelites at the Red Sea is a powerful reminder that sometimes, even when we are exactly where God wants us, we will face overwhelming opposition. The Israelites were hemmed in by the sea in front and the Egyptian army behind, yet they were precisely in the place God had led them.
Our natural responses in these moments are fear, doubt, and the temptation to go back to what is familiar—even if it means returning to bondage. We question why things are hard, forgetting that God may have already spared us from even greater dangers we cannot see. The challenge is to resist the urge to retreat and instead stand firm, watch for God’s salvation, and move forward in faith.
God’s instruction to the Israelites was simple: “Go forward.” He didn’t ask them to figure out how the sea would part—he simply called them to take the next step. As they obeyed, God not only parted the waters but also protected them from their enemies, showing that he is both our defender and our provider. The Red Sea was not just an obstacle; it became the very means by which God destroyed their pursuers.
Every story of faith in Scripture—Abraham, Moses, David, the disciples—shows that the path through difficulty is not about having all the answers, but about trusting God enough to take the next step. The sea in front of you is real, the opposition behind you is real, but God’s presence and power are even more real. Don’t let fear, doubt, or your own words hold you back. Take the step. God will see you through to the other side.
1. Exodus 14:10-22 (NKJV) — > 10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord.
> 11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us to bring us up out of Egypt?
> 12 Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”
> 13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
> 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
> 15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
> 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
> 17 And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.
> 18 Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
> 19 And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.
> 20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
> 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
> 22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
2. Hebrews 11:29 (NKJV) — > By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.
3. John 16:33 (NKJV) — > These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
God will fight for us. He is Jehovah Nisi, our banner, our defender. Now, I don't know about you, you don't need a defender unless there's somebody trying to hurt you. You don't need a provider unless there was lack. And God has promised to be your provider and your defender and your vindicator and your righteousness and the one that sets you free. They prayed for freedom, God set them free, and at the first sign of difficulty they were ready to quit. And God says, why are you crying? I am bringing you freedom. Go forward. No, the sea looks too big. Go forward. Take the step. Don't stop. [00:22:35] (22 seconds) #KeepMovingForwardInFaith
If you look at the beginning, it says that when they were going out into the wilderness, God had a pillar of fire during the night and a cloud during the day leading them. And when they got to the Red Sea and God said, go forward, he didn't leave his people exposed. It says that the angel of the Lord came and stood behind them. Can I tell you something? God's got our back. We don't got to worry about watching our back. We don't got to worry about watching our six. We don't got to worry about what's going on there because God's got us. Church, God will fight for us. And as we're going forward and going through, God has our back. [00:25:39] (47 seconds) #GodHasOurBack
You may have a Red Sea in front of you and the whole host of Egyptian armies behind you, but God can use the parting of this Red Sea to drown your enemies. It may look insurmountable. It may look like the wrong people are coming into power. It may look like the situations are something that are going to destroy everything. But let God use your Red Sea to drown out your enemies. [00:31:03] (34 seconds) #EnemiesDrownedByFaith
Every man and woman in Scripture, we see them face something. And what causes the distinction is that by faith, they got through. By faith, Noah built an ark and life was spared. By faith, Abraham and Sarah had Isaac. By faith, David chose to spare Saul's life when he could have killed him. And then God promoted him to king. By faith, we will get through. [00:36:59] (48 seconds) #FaithThatMovesMountains
The Red Sea's in front. The Egyptians are behind. Look to God and say, God, I put my faith back on you and I will begin to walk and go forward. And I know you will open the sea. I will get to the other side and you will drown my enemies. [00:37:52] (26 seconds) #FaithOverFearAndDoubt
