Standing at the edge of the promised land, the Israelites faced a pivotal moment: would they trust God’s promise or let fear dictate their future? Despite witnessing God’s miracles and provision, most of the spies allowed fear to overshadow faith, spreading a negative report that led the people to despair and rebellion. Only Caleb and Joshua held fast to God’s word, urging the people to move forward in faith. This story reminds us that fear can derail us from God’s destiny, but faith—anchored in His promises—empowers us to step into all He has prepared. [01:23:00]
Numbers 13:26-33 (ESV)
And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.” But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.” Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”
Reflection: What is one area in your life where fear has kept you from stepping into something God has promised or called you to? What would it look like to take a step of faith today, trusting God over your fears?
God’s promises are unwavering and true, regardless of the obstacles we face. The Israelites’ journey was marked by God’s faithfulness—He parted the Red Sea, provided for their needs, and led them with His presence. Yet, when confronted with giants, they doubted His word. Remember, God is not like man; He does not lie or change His mind. His faithfulness is the foundation for our confidence, and we can trust that what He has spoken, He will bring to pass, no matter how daunting the circumstances may seem. [01:28:05]
Numbers 23:19 (ESV)
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Reflection: Recall a promise from God’s Word that you have struggled to believe. How can you remind yourself of God’s unchanging faithfulness and choose to trust Him with that promise today?
The words we speak shape our perspective and our destiny. The ten spies’ negative confession spread fear and led to forty years of wandering, while Caleb’s faith-filled declaration pointed to victory. What we confess—whether faith or fear—can either propel us into God’s promises or hold us back in defeat. God calls us to align our words with His truth, declaring His power over every giant we face. Let your confession be one of faith, knowing that greater is He who is in you than anything that stands against you. [01:29:51]
Proverbs 18:21 (ESV)
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Reflection: What is one negative or fearful statement you have been repeating about your situation? How can you replace it today with a declaration of faith rooted in God’s promises?
Who and what you allow to influence your heart will shape your faith journey. The Israelites’ hearts were contaminated by the fearful report of the ten spies, while Caleb and Joshua drew strength from God’s word and presence. Surround yourself with people of faith, and protect your heart from negativity and doubt. Let God’s word be your primary source, filling you with hope and courage to pursue your destiny. Guard your vessel, for you are a carrier of God’s presence, meant to change the atmosphere wherever you go. [01:38:30]
Proverbs 4:23 (ESV)
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
Reflection: Who are the people and what are the sources (media, conversations, etc.) that most influence your heart? What is one practical step you can take today to guard your heart and surround yourself with faith-builders?
True faith is cultivated by surrendering to the Holy Spirit, allowing God to search and purify your heart, and letting His word dwell richly within you. As you surrender, God’s word becomes alive, producing faith that sees beyond obstacles to the destiny He has prepared. Don’t just read the Bible for knowledge—let it transform you, guide you, and fill you with vision for what God can do. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ; as you listen and obey, you will find strength to step boldly into your promised land. [01:36:25]
Romans 10:17 (ESV)
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Reflection: How can you intentionally make space today to listen to God’s word and invite the Holy Spirit to search your heart? What is one area where you need to surrender and let God’s word shape your vision and actions?
The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land is a powerful picture of our own walk with God. Standing at Kadesh Barnea, the people could see the land God had promised—a land flowing with milk and honey, the fulfillment of generations of hope. Yet, at the threshold of destiny, God paused them, not to frustrate, but to reveal what was truly in their hearts. The sending of the twelve spies was not just a reconnaissance mission; it was a test of faith versus fear. Though all twelve saw the same giants and the same abundance, only Joshua and Caleb returned with faith-filled eyes, declaring, “We can certainly do it!” The others, overwhelmed by fear, saw themselves as grasshoppers and spread a report that paralyzed the nation.
This moment teaches that proximity to God’s promise does not guarantee possession. The difference lies in the posture of the heart—whether we allow fear or faith to shape our perspective. Fear magnifies obstacles and diminishes God’s power, leading to detours and missed destinies. Faith, on the other hand, sees giants as bread, obstacles as opportunities for God’s greatness to be revealed. The tragedy of Israel’s story is not just their wandering, but that an entire generation forfeited their inheritance because they allowed fear to dictate their response.
In our own lives, giants may take the form of sickness, family struggles, or daunting challenges. The question is not whether giants exist, but whether we will see them through the lens of God’s promise or through the lens of our own limitations. God never promised a journey without opposition, but He did promise His presence and victory. The call is to guard our hearts, surround ourselves with people of faith, and let God’s word dwell richly within us. Faith is not a one-time act but a lifestyle—a continual surrender to the Holy Spirit, a daily choice to believe God’s report over every other voice.
As we stand at our own Kadesh Barnea moments, the invitation is to step forward, not in fear, but in faith, trusting that God is able to bring us into the fullness of His promise. The giants are real, but so is our God. Let us be a generation that chooses faith over fear, refusing to detour, and boldly taking hold of all that God has prepared for us.

What giants is standing up in front of you? Maybe a sickness. Maybe it's a problem. Maybe in your family, whatever that you are facing, that you thought, that you think, that it cannot be conquered. You know, God is bigger than those giants. I believe that's what Caleb saw that day and Joshua. When they saw the giants, they said, these are our bread because I'm going to own the land that they stand on. I've come to get a piece of those land. I don't care whether these giants have bigger size or whatever. They stand taller. Six feet higher than me, but I will, they has to be conquered in the name of Jesus. I am more than a conqueror. Greater is he that the one who lives in me than the one who is out there. That is how we should speak to our giants. [01:26:35] (57 seconds) #GiantsAreBread
Just protect your vessels. I put this as my point. Number five, protect your vessels. Just guard your heart. Guard your heart. See, God wants to live in us. He said, whoever believes in my word and obeys it, rivers of living water will flow from within them. Look, we are the carriers of the presence of God. We are the carriers. We don't just go and seek God. We carry it. Yes, there are times when we need God. We go after him. We go after his presence. But there are times, too, that you should see yourself as a carrier of his presence. You go into a place, you know that you can change the atmosphere. [01:38:21] (43 seconds) #GuardYourSpirit
Don't allow negative people to contaminate what God has placed. Don't allow people with doubts and fear, you know, to always come and contaminate your heart. God wants to be the fountain of living water to your spirit. Because he wants to heal you. And he wants to, you know, to be a God that becomes reality into your situation. [01:40:23] (26 seconds) #FaithOverFear
The biggest failure here is how the children of Israel allow, they allow the negative reports. That is so driven by fear to infiltrate their hearts. Instead of trying to pay attention to the reports of the two men that were so full of faith, courage, and boldness. That can take them to their destiny. And that was sometimes, it was always the tug of war. We can face in our journey with God. We can choose faith versus fear. Oh, I believe you God for this. I know that you said this, but this thing. But this thing. And you, kind of like you, always in the middle. And sometimes if you're not careful, one of them will lose the battle. It's either fear will take over your faith or faith will conquer your fear. So which one are you paying attention? The faith for your promised land? Oh, I'm afraid I might not get there. I think I'm too old. I think this thing has been bothering me all along. But God wants us to live in faith. [01:41:08] (85 seconds) #WalkByFaith
``Look, my friend. You might be at your Cades Banya moment. Might be very close to your promotion. You might be very close to that place. But something has been challenging your heart. Will make you afraid. Think, oh, just allow God to come into that place. Maybe there's a giant standing next to you. In front of you. Telling you that you're not going to make it. Because I'm standing in the way. And this morning, I believe in my heart that God really wants to encourage you in your faith in him. To move forward and to walk freely into your promised land. Because you are not designed for the wilderness. [01:44:44] (61 seconds) #MoveFreelyInFaith
The Bible says that God doesn't give us a spirit of fear and timidity, but he give us the spirit of power of love and a sound mind. You don't need to live with that fear. Whatever giant is standing in your way. You said, giants, you can stay there. You're just a piece of bread. I'm just going to walk up to my destiny. [01:46:28] (16 seconds) #SpiritOfPowerNotFear
