Philippians 4 brings money, worry, and the thoughts of the heart under the lordship of God. God’s presence leaves no room for fear, because God is love and perfect love casts out fear. The command, “don’t worry about anything,” does not leave a little side room for children, finances, parents, bills, or the future. The text says to pray about everything, tell God what is needed, thank Him for what He has done, and only then does the peace that passes understanding guard the heart and mind.

The mind has a job. “Fix your thoughts” means that the child of God cannot just swat at worry like a gnat and hope it leaves. We just saw that in the scripture where it says according to the power that is at work within you. So many try to be this is one thing I wanna emphasize as we're kind of getting toward the end here. That many people But then other times, we have a good father and we're trying to live up to our fathers. Right? I'm trying to live up to the example that he set. Right? But guess what? When it comes to God, it's not about living up to God. It's about God living through you. You gotta allow God to live through you. His power, his ability, his love and kindness. Don't see Jesus, your elder brother, as somebody that you've gotta live up to. I gotta be a perfect example like him. No. He died on a cross so that you wouldn't have to live up to that. All you've gotta do is get on your knees and say, Jesus, I give my life to you, and then accepting that allows you to live a life of betterment, allows you to live a life to where you can live up to all that and more, not out of your own ability, not by my power or my might, but it is by his spirit.
