To possess the promises God has for you, you must first see yourself as able to receive them. The Israelites stood on the edge of the Promised Land, but only Joshua and Caleb believed they could take hold of what God had promised. The others saw only obstacles and their own inadequacy. Faith begins with how you perceive yourself and your situation—do you see yourself as God sees you, or do you let fear and doubt cloud your vision? God calls you to believe that every blessing, every benefit, and every promise He has spoken over your life is within reach if you trust Him and move forward in faith. [01:16:34]
Numbers 13:26-30 (ESV)
And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.” But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”
Reflection: What is one promise or dream from God that you have hesitated to pursue because of fear or self-doubt? How can you take a step of faith toward it today?
The way you think about yourself and your circumstances determines what you become and what you achieve. Scripture teaches that as a person thinks in their heart, so are they. The Israelites’ defeat began in their minds before it ever played out in reality—they saw themselves as grasshoppers, and so they acted like grasshoppers. God calls you to renew your mind, to think on what is true, noble, and praiseworthy, and to align your self-image with His truth. When you change your thinking, you change your life. [01:30:59]
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Reflection: What negative thought about yourself do you need to surrender to God today, and what truth from His Word can you replace it with?
Too often, we overestimate others and underestimate ourselves, believing the lie that we are less than what God says we are. The Israelites saw giants and called themselves grasshoppers, forgetting that God had already declared them victorious. Instead of focusing on your limitations or comparing yourself to others, look in the mirror and see yourself as God sees you: loved, chosen, and more than a conqueror. Let your identity be shaped by His promises, not by your fears or the opinions of others. [01:42:43]
Romans 8:37-39 (ESV)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection: When you look at yourself today, what is one way you can intentionally remind yourself of your identity in Christ instead of comparing yourself to others?
Before you can walk in the blessings God has for you, you must first project positivity and faith. Caleb’s declaration, “We are well able to do it,” was rooted in his trust in God’s faithfulness, not in his own strength. Pessimism paralyzes your probability, but faith-filled words and attitudes open the door to God’s promises. Speak life over your situation, visualize God’s victory, and let your actions align with your belief that God is able. [01:25:32]
Philippians 4:13 (ESV)
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you need to replace negative, pessimistic words with faith-filled declarations? How will you speak differently about it today?
God’s promises and presence are available, but you must make a move toward Him. Whether it’s stepping forward in faith, joining a community of believers, or simply saying yes to Jesus, God is waiting for you to respond. The Spirit of the Lord is present and moving—don’t let hesitation or fear keep you from experiencing all that God has for you. Today is the day to make a move, to confess Jesus as Lord, and to step into the fullness of life He offers. [01:51:22]
Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Reflection: What is one step you can take today to move closer to God—whether it’s prayer, confession, joining a group, or reaching out for help? Will you make that move?
Today, we celebrated the joy of new life in Christ as six candidates were baptized, publicly declaring their faith and entering into the family of God. We rejoiced together, remembering that none but the righteous shall see God, and we welcomed our new brothers and sisters with open arms. Even as we celebrated, we also paused to honor the memory of Deaconess Sandra Thorpe, a faithful servant who has gone home to be with the Lord, and we continue to lift her family in prayer.
We reflected on the story of the Israelites in Numbers 13, standing on the edge of the Promised Land. God had already shown them proof of His promise—fruit from a land flowing with milk and honey. Yet, when faced with obstacles, most of the spies allowed fear and negative thinking to cloud their vision. Only Joshua and Caleb held fast to faith, declaring, “We are well able to possess it.” Their example reminds us that possessing God’s promises requires more than just seeing the blessing; it demands a mindset of faith, a positive projection rooted in God’s faithfulness.
We explored how our perception shapes our reality. The Israelites saw giants and called themselves grasshoppers, underestimating themselves and overestimating their enemies. Too often, we do the same—allowing comparison, insecurity, and pessimism to paralyze us. But God calls us to see ourselves as He sees us: more than conquerors, beloved, and destined for victory. The difference between walking in promise or wandering in defeat often begins in the mind and heart.
We were challenged to bring back “proof” of God’s word in our lives—not just hearing, but living out the teachings of Christ, loving our enemies, and walking in obedience. We were reminded that problems do not negate God’s promises; opposition is often a sign that we are moving in the right direction. The key is to keep our eyes on God, not just on the giants or the grapes.
As we shared in communion, we remembered that Jesus is the bread of life, our sustenance and strength. His sacrifice secures every promise, and His resurrection assures us that nothing can separate us from His love. Today, the invitation remains open: to receive Christ, to join His family, and to see ourselves and our future through the eyes of faith.
Numbers 13:26-33 (ESV) — 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”
30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”
31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.”
32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height.
33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”
If you're going to possess the promise, you got to think you can do it. You got to believe you can do it. You got to perceive that you're able to possess everything that God has for you. And I can't speak for you, but I want everything God got for me. Every promise, every blessing, every benefit, every benevolent. I want it all. I don't want to be lacking in nothing. Caleb, in the midst of all this report that the other ten were given, one stood up and said, Wait a minute. God is with us. We can do this. We are able to do this. And what I like about Caleb is that he understood you have to visualize before you actualize. Lady Angela, he saw that you've got to see it before you can be it. You've got to believe it before you achieve it. He says, Now, we can do this. We can accomplish this. [01:23:52] (46 seconds) #VisualizeToActualize
How many of us talk negative about ourselves? Whether you verbalize it or not, I told you, it starts in the mind before it gets to the mouth. I can't do that. I can't pass this class. I can't do this. I can't be successful. I can't do this. I can't get free of this addiction. I can't do this. Now, come on, boys. You gave your enemies a compliment and gave yourself a criticism. You called them giants and called yourself a grasshopper. [01:37:43] (51 seconds) #PerceptionLimits
As you are combing your hair in the mirror, as you are brushing your teeth, as you are preparing for your day, see yourself the way God sees you. View yourself how the Lord sees you. The last time I checked, I was the head and not the tail. The last time I checked, I was blessed in the city and I was blessed in the field. I was blessed when I come and I was blessed when I go. The last time I checked, I was more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ. [01:42:43] (36 seconds) #SeeYourBlessing
