Day 1: Faith and Obedience

Faith is deeply connected to obedience rather than convenience. Abel's offering was accepted by God because it was given in obedience, not out of convenience. This challenges us to examine our own lives and see where we might be offering God what is convenient rather than what He has asked for. True faith requires us to step out in obedience, even when it is difficult. [33:17]

1 Samuel 15:22 (ESV): "And Samuel said, 'Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.'"

Reflection: Where in your life are you choosing convenience over obedience to God? What steps can you take today to offer God your best, even when it is difficult?

Day 2: God’s Grace and Kindness

The heart of God always carries grace and kindness. Even when Cain's offering was not accepted, God extended grace and gave him clear instructions on how to be accepted. This shows us that God is always inviting us into a closer relationship with Him, offering us grace and kindness even when we fall short. [37:28]

Psalm 103:8-10 (ESV): "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities."

Day 3: Faith Beyond Sight

Faith involves trusting in what we cannot see. Just as we trust in gravity, wind, and other unseen forces, we are called to trust in God's plans and purposes for our lives, even when they are not visible. This kind of faith requires us to fix our gaze on the eternal and unseen, rather than the temporary and visible. [14:04]

2 Corinthians 4:18 (ESV): "As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

Day 4: Impact of Obedience on Faith

While our righteousness is not determined by our actions, our obedience to God significantly impacts our faith journey. Abel's obedient sacrifice was a testament to his faith, and it earned him a good reputation. Our acts of obedience, though they do not make us righteous, strengthen our faith and witness to others. James 2:17-18 (ESV): "So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have works.' Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works."

Whether it's a first-time decision to follow Jesus or a renewed commitment to deeper faith, surrender is the key to experiencing the fullness of God's plans for us. [49:26]

Matthew 16:24-25 (ESV): "Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.'"
