Deliverance or Destruction: Ezekiel’s End-Times Call

Ezekiel 38 and 39 put the final stretch of human history in plain view: destruction or deliverance. Revelation 19 through 21 shows the same road, and the world does not have a third lane. God has allowed this present age to be an age of deliverance, but the wrath of God will one day be released without the church on earth, and the horror of that holiness will not be softened.

God’s holiness does not wink at sin, and grace does not mean God has no boundaries. God will judge the worst evil, but God will also judge what human beings love to call a “bad day.” The same wrath that belongs to the obvious monster belongs to every unrepentant sinner, because God’s standard is not human comparison. Grace only looks stunning when the horror of holiness is allowed to remain as terrible as Scripture makes it.

Ezekiel names Gog of Magog as the final world leader, the last beast empire ruler, the one who rises against God’s people and God’s place. God says, “I am against you,” and those are words no one ever wants to hear. God puts hooks in Gog’s jaws, not because God has to talk evil into being evil, but because God gives wickedness over to its own natural hatred. The enemies of God always do what enemies of God do: they move against the people and purposes of God.

Israel stands at the center of that end time conflict because God’s name, land, and promises are tied to Israel. The church does not replace Israel. Gentiles are wild shoots grafted in, blessed through the perfect Jew, Jesus Christ. Any anti-Israel worldview has to be corrected by the Bible, not by Twitter, campus protests, or the latest political fever.

Revelation 19 shows the end not as a fair fight, but as instant reckoning. Christ comes as the rider on the horse, and the sword comes out of His mouth. The birds are called to the great supper of God, while the saints are brought to the wedding supper of the Lamb. That contrast is brutal and clear: either rejoicing with Christ or ruined by Him.

God’s destruction of His enemies should not make believers gloat. God’s judgment should make evangelism urgent. The alternative to Jesus Christ is eternally devastating, so the church’s work is not to revel in ruin but to populate heaven and make hell hard to reach from the place God has planted His people.
