Sermon Clips

The Apostle is concerned that these Ephesians might know that love. Now we have looked at it very generally. We have seen that this is the highest knowledge that can ever come to us in this world. There is no knowledge beyond this. That's not to take from the value of other forms of knowledge. [00:02:00]

The business of all knowledge, even of Doctrine, is to bring us to this knowledge of the love of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have also seen that it is a knowledge that is open to all All Saints, to nobody but Saints, but to all the saints. [00:02:39]

The Apostle is saying is this: that though this Love Of Christ is itself beyond all computation and can never be truly measured, nevertheless it is our business to learn as much as we can about it, to receive as much as we can possibly contain, to do our utmost as it were to try to comprehend it all. [00:07:18]

It will be the theme of contemplation of all the saints not only in this world but also in the world which is to come. We shall spend our eternity in gazing upon it and wondering at it and in being astounded by it. Now it is our business to start upon this in this life and in this world. [00:08:16]

The breadth of Christ's love is seen in its reach across all nations and peoples, a love that is not limited to any one group. The length of His love is eternal, beginning in eternity and continuing unbroken through time and into eternity. The depth of His love is demonstrated in His willingness to humble Himself, to suffer, and to die for us while we were yet sinners. [00:10:26]

The length of Christ's love is eternal, beginning before time and continuing unbroken into eternity. This love is constant and unchanging, providing a source of comfort and strength in times of trial. It assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. [00:25:29]

The depth of Christ's love is demonstrated in His willingness to humble Himself and suffer for us. Despite our sinfulness and unworthiness, He endured the cross out of love for us. This depth of love calls us to meditate on the sacrifice of Christ and to respond with gratitude and devotion. [00:32:51]

The height of Christ's love is seen in His ultimate purpose for us: to raise us to be with Him in glory. This love is not just about forgiveness but about transformation and glorification. It is a love that seeks to make us like Christ, to share in His glory, and to be with Him forever. [00:41:13]

Meditating on the dimensions of Christ's love transforms our perspective and empowers our Christian walk. It lifts us from the mundane and the petty, filling us with joy and purpose. This love is the source of our strength and the foundation of our faith, calling us to live in its light and to share it with others. [00:45:06]

The Apostle uses a three-dimensional description to convey the vastness of Christ's love, likening it to the vastness of the church as a holy temple. This love is beyond comprehension, yet we are called to learn as much as we can about it. It is a love that will be the theme of our contemplation for eternity. [00:05:09]

The greatest saints have always found joy in meditating on Christ's love, and it is this love that completes the Christian life. The breadth of Christ's love is seen in its reach across all nations and peoples, a love that is not limited to any one group. [00:10:26]

The height of Christ's love is seen in His ultimate purpose for us: to raise us to be with Him in glory, to be like Him, and to see Him as He is. This love is not just about forgiveness but about transformation and glorification. [00:41:13]
