And Jesus says to the father I made known to them that is to his disciples both then and later I made known to them your name and I will continue to make it known that the love with which you have loved me may be in them and I in them. [00:30:40]

The totality of of the of the prayer of course is precious to us Jesus is praying for the preservation of his own keep them he says if you ever wonder why it is that you're still a Christian it's because Jesus prayed for you and he continues to pray for you he keeps us. [00:179:00]

The vastness of all of this and you realize how immense is the doctrine of the Incarnation that God the creator of the universe steps down into time that is surely intellectually the most difficult part of the entire theological Paradigm but once by the enabling of the spirit of God we have come not only to understand that but to embrace it and to be embraced by it then everything else almost follows automatically. [00:274:44]

Jesus is addressing as we saw last time his followers they live in a world that doesn't know God verse 25 they live in a world that doesn't know God the world does not know God and they are actually hated by the people in the world in which they live. [00:376:88]

God made it we broke it Christ fixes it God made it we broke it by our sin we're under his judgment we're in Rebellion against him we're unable to access him on our own terms or in our own time if we're to know God he must come to us and that is what he has gloriously done in the Incarnation. [00:464:00]

I will continue to make it known that is an interesting statement because Jesus now for quite a period of time um in in the chapter's time uh from 14 at least he has been preparing the disciples for the fact that he's going to be gone I'm going away I I I know that you could be unsettled by this but the fight is I will be gone. [00:519:80]

The love with which you have loved me may be in them and I in them the love with which you have loved me may be in them and I in them remember in John 13 uh John tells us that uh Jesus having loved his own who were with him in the world he loved them to the end here he is loving them all the way to the end. [00:1054:84]

This love is unknown apart from Christ this love is unknown apart from Christ the love of God before you trusted in Christ the love of God was toward you it was an initiative taking love but it wasn't a love that was in you it is only in Christ that this love is manifested and known. [00:1253:96]

It is a love that is unknown apart from Christ and Christ is unknown know apart from this love when U Zachariah is speaking to the people of God and pointing them to the Future which is of course what prophets do at one point in Chapter 13 he speaks of a fountain being open wide that will produce cleansing for the people of God as they turn to him. [00:1315:52]

Now notice as we draw this to a close that this is not provided for us here as a datum in history in other words this is not something that Jesus is praying might be a sort of point along the journey it it is it is a reality in the present for which he prays not a memory from the past it is actually to be a lived experience. [00:1417:56]

God's love in Christ for us is the basis is the ground of every other benefit that we enjoy so for example if you take the himym greatest th faithfulness and we saying pardon for sin and a peace that endureth thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide that pardon for sin that peace that presence is all grounded in the love that Jesus is referencing here. [00:1558:03]

The love with which you loved me may be in them i in them the the disciples needed to know that and I need to know that so do you Jesus says to them hey guys I will take you to myself where are you going don't worry about where I'm going I'll take you to myself I mean that that that makes perfect sense doesn't it. [00:1872:91]
