49s
“What did he give us? He gave us eternal life. He gave his life, his body on a cross. He emptied himself as we saw last week and took on the form of a servant. And then he turns around and he gives gifts, the spoils of his victory. He distributes to us liberally. He gives you as a gift to Westside. He gives Westside as a gift to the community, and we gift one another with our spiritual gifts, and we build each other up for the glory of God. This was all a grace, but this grace that came to you and me came through one person who did his job, the only job he could do and the only person who could do it.”
48s
“So here's the vision is this glorious, stable, unified, loving, doctrinally sound body of believers. But did you notice how he was gonna achieve that? Well, he describes members, parts of the body working together. And when they're working together, it builds the church up itself. It functions. It's the growth mechanism. So if you say, how do you grow your church? Well, here it is. It is every member a minister. Every member a minister.”
29s
“You may not have known that when you followed Christ, you were called into the ministry. How many of you are followers of Christ? Just raise your hand if you're a follower of Christ. Keep your hand up. You have been called into the ministry. Now it doesn't mean you have to go to seminary. It doesn't mean you have to go work for a church on staff, but every member of the body has a ministry. You have a capacity, a divine enablement, and a divine assignment.”
41s
“So if we're gonna grow, there's gotta be access, audible access to the speaking of truth. That requires relationship. That requires other human beings. That requires listening. That requires, I think, attendance. We need to speak truth to one another, and we need to love one another in the process of that truth. It's not that we just say the truth in a loving way. We say the truth accompanied by love. And it's not that we just love to give the truth, but we love continuously and unconditionally so that we can continue to speak the truth. And when we do that, we grow up in every way into the head.”
