God did not abandon her god blessed her even in the fallen world he gave her particularly the joy of becoming the world's first mother and that's what we have in Genesis chapter 4 and verse 1 now Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore keen saying I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord. [00:04:38]

I want you to notice that in some very profound and very wonderful sense they still in the fallen world knew the blessing and the presence of God I wonder if you've noticed verse 16 when you've read this perhaps before the verse 16 tells us that later kin went away from the presence of the Lord. [00:05:59]

The story here then is not that God sort of arbitrarily took a liking to Abel and a disliking to keene and for anyone to suggest that you know God has decided all that is going to happen to every one of us and so nothing that we ever do is ever going to make any difference that would be a complete miss reading of the Bible. [00:09:00]

Faith is always in the Bible a believing response to what God has revealed and this is therefore a very clear indication to us that God had already revealed to the first family what he later revealed to Moses at Mount Sinai I and then revealed to the whole world in and through Jesus Christ that people in a fallen world must come to God through a sacrifice that involves the laying down of a life. [00:11:04]

Here's the reality sin is crouching at the door and its desire is for you but you must rule over it so for all keen strength I'm speaking two sons and daughters as well as fathers and mothers here this morning but all keen strength he is as a young man up against a greater power that has the capacity to destroy him. [00:19:24]

God gave to Eve this marvelous promise Eve evil will not have the last word and there's her hope now let me try and make this personal for all of us personal for you whether you are a mother whether you are a father whether you are a son or a daughter here's what we learn from the story of the world's first mother we all have an enemy to fight and we all have a promise to believe. [00:23:53]

You have an enemy to fight this enemy of sin that is like this wild animal that is always crouching at the door crouching at the door of every mother every father every daughter and every son you have an enemy to fight it had been crouching at Eve store this enemy even there in the Garden of Eden. [00:24:27]

You see that your life actually is under threat from the power of sin unless you are vigorously part in fighting against it and empowered for that very purpose can you see that when you are angry and when you are disappointed in life you are especially vulnerable to the destructive power that is crouching at your door. [00:25:14]

You fight the enemy according to this story when you decisively renounce the lie that people can come to God in their own way and I want to call on mothers to renounce that lie today your biggest influence in your family may be to set clearly in your mind and in your heart this conviction and you will do so much good for your children and for those who are around you. [00:26:02]

The way of kin please understand this the way of Cain that is the idea that everyone can come in their own way has always been in the majority position in the world it always will be men and women have always insisted since the time of Cain that it is our right to come to God in any way of our own choosing and that is up to God to accept whatever weight away we are pleased to come. [00:27:29]

When God comes near he always comes near and grace in order that we may confess that's how you fight the enemy from this story there's an enemy to fight and with that there is a promise to believe and people who believe the promise like Eve you know have hope even where there is grief and loss. [00:33:52]

People who believe the promise they call on God in prayer and did you notice that that's where the story ends in verse 26 at that time at that time people began to call on the name of the Lord we've had the first reference to sin in the Bible in the story now we have the first reference to prayer in the Bible in this story.
