Eternal Rewards

Eternal rewards calls believers to get their minds off temporary stuff and set their affection on things above. Colossians 3 makes it plain: those who are risen with Christ are not supposed to be driven by what can be stolen, lost, or passed away. Eternity is an unending existence, and every person will live forever either with God or separated from Him.

The judgment seat of Christ shows that believers will stand before God personally, face to face, and give an account for life in the body. The bema is not a place for believers to determine salvation, but a place where deeds, motives, assignments, and attention will be revealed. God will ask whether each person did what He sent them into the earth to do, not whether they stayed busy doing their own thing. The great white throne reveals a different judgment for those who reject Christ. The book of life settles the issue of eternal life, because salvation comes by grace through faith and cannot be earned by good works. God does not force anyone to receive Jesus, yet His mercy keeps reaching for people until their last breath. The urgency of eternity should therefore put a fire in believers to pray for deceived people and tell them about Jesus.

Good works follow those who die in the Lord because works done for Christ are going ahead and building something eternal. Revelation pictures those deeds as fine linen for the Bride, while eternal reward also affects how believers will rule and reign with Christ. Prayer, service, stewardship, raising children, handling money, using gifts, and obeying divine promptings all matter because every day is recorded.

The warning against falling away presses the need to stay spiritually alive, spiritually thriving, and on fire. Seducing spirits and doctrines of devils can enter subtly through entertainment, compromise, and a life disconnected from the Word and the gathered church. The return of Christ, the marriage supper of the Lamb, Christ’s victorious return on the white horse, and the restoration of all things give believers a real future to live toward.

The fire of God will test every work for what sort it is. Salvation may remain secure, but works that were not born from obedience and eternal purpose can burn up. Eternal rewards therefore call every believer to stop comparing races, get locked in on the assignment, and prepare now for the day of personal account.
