#MadeInGodsImage
“``You know what? I used to believe that way, and that was kind of an out. It was a cop out because if you believe God is what he says and does what he promises, then you must also believe that you were created in his likeness, which makes you a masterpiece. Every one of you is a masterpiece of no less significance to God than anything else in this earth. You're his beloved. You are made in his image, and take comfort in that. And as we discuss these faraway places today and the impact that God is having in these places, I would encourage you to engage not as a spectator, but as a living, breathing, sibling in Christ who has the potential for impact.”

#LivingByFaith
“Not a single one of these individuals ever had the fulfilled promise of God revealed to them while they were on earth, but there's no doubt that they celebrated that in heaven. In Hebrews 11, later in the same chapter, writes, all these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised. They only saw them, and they welcomed them from a distance. Go back to verse three. By faith, we understand the universe was formed at God's command. So what we see was not made out of something that was visible.”

#GodsCreation
“And the universe and everything in it was created at God's command, period, full stop. This includes some of the most spectacular scenes on the planet, a couple of which I'm gonna share with you at end of this message. There's ons firing sites that I saw in Africa, whether it's an acacia tree that's perfectly placed, lions, just the beauty of a of a child of God. All of these were singularly created by God. Now some of these sites, these these awesome sites might be the ocean, you might be looking at the stars in the sky and say, what am I? I'm just this insignificant speck, this grain of sand.”

#FaithUnleashed
“It might not be getting on a twenty five hour flight or series of flights that I'll be doing in a few weeks, but through prayer and support and a true yearning to learn more about the holy spirit as it work here and across the country and around the world. Having faith is not the endpoint. It is the beginning. Faith unleashes possibilities. The German pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was martyred by the Nazis, wrote that Christians must be prepared to be interrupted. And it is in these interruptions, it is in these intercessions by the Holy Spirit is where change happens and where that faith is fortified and we're able to get to work for the kingdom.”

#KenyanHospitality
“Here's the important thing. Despite this very recent history, the people of Kenya that I encountered are kind and welcoming, and they just intuitively image Jesus to people like me. They hold no collective grudge. They wear faith on their sleeve, and they exude the anticipation of blessings from God based on the knowledge of his character and the excitement of his promise. They role model, they image Jesus freely, willingly, and joyfully.”

#HallOfFaith
“The writer specifically mentions Abel and Noah and Enoch and Abraham and Sarah and Isaac and Jacob, the folks that surrounded the walls of Jericho, even Moses' mom and dad. Can you imagine the faith required to put your baby in a basket? These individuals would be in the hall of fame for faithfulness, and some commentaries actually refer to this as the hall of faith. But in each of these cases, they knew enough about God's character to trust God, and they obeyed despite remarkable challenges.”

#YearningForHome
“Our head was on a swivel in Nairobi, and and here's one of the reasons why. So we had the chance to worship at a church called Saint John's Kaoli UMC. We had a two and a half hour service with Kenyans and refugees from The Congo. And we heard these refugees during the service wail in despair as they prayed and presented their tithes. And they yearned and they ached to be home. If you know anything about The Congo, it's rough. That's where Ebola is now, and that's where other challenges are. But we're able to worship with these folks, and what the compelling thing was how they ached to be back there.”

#EducationTransforms
“So by creating community with our families, including nutrition and health care and a chaplain and a social worker, we have the opportunity to demonstrate the value of keeping these kids in school and performing at a high level. We in the West can offset most of their expense, and we can allow these students to focus on their studies. And eventually, it was very typical in Africa, they will bring their skills back to their village, and they will fortify their village.”
