In the midst of life’s storms and uncertainties, God calls us to pause, quiet our anxious hearts, and remember that He is sovereign over all. When we choose stillness and trust, we open ourselves to His presence and power, knowing that He is our fortress and refuge. Even when circumstances seem overwhelming, God promises to be exalted among the nations and to be with us, working miracles and bringing restoration. Take a moment today to rest in His assurance: He’s got you, and He is working on your behalf. [55:33]
Psalm 46:10-11 (ESV)
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you need to intentionally pause, be still, and trust that God is working even when you can’t see the outcome?
God never intended for His church to be a stadium of spectators but a team where every believer is equipped, engaged, and on mission. Each person has a unique purpose and gifting, and when everyone steps into their God-given role, the body of Christ grows in unity and strength. You are not called to sit on the sidelines; you are called to participate, to serve, and to shine for Jesus wherever you go. Embrace your calling and know that you are made on purpose, for a purpose, by a purposeful God. [01:07:34]
Ephesians 4:11-16 (ESV)
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Reflection: What is one way you can move from being a spectator to an active participant in God’s mission this week?
God’s equipping is not just about giving us tools; it’s about mending our brokenness and preparing us for impact. Like fishermen mending their nets, God restores our hearts, heals our wounds, and gets us ready to be effective in His kingdom. He sees the version of you that you don’t see yet—restored, whole, and walking in purpose. You don’t have to be perfect or qualified; you just need to love Him and say yes. Trust that He is faithful to complete the good work He started in you, and let Him prepare you for the calling ahead. [01:15:53]
Matthew 4:21 (ESV)
“And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.”
Reflection: What area of your life needs God’s mending touch so you can be ready for the next step He has for you?
Jesus’ model for equipping was deeply relational—He walked with His disciples, shared life with them, and then sent them out to minister. True discipleship happens not just through teaching but through shared experiences, vulnerability, and hands-on mission. Jesus calls us close, imparts His heart, and then commissions us to go and make disciples, trusting that He is with us always. As you open your life to others and step out in faith, you become part of the ripple effect that spreads the gospel to the nations. [01:31:07]
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
Reflection: Who is one person you can intentionally walk alongside or encourage in their faith journey this week?
Maturity in Christ doesn’t happen by accident—it comes through intentional growth, constant use of our gifts, and a willingness to step out in faith. God has uniquely equipped you with gifts, talents, and a story that the world needs. Don’t bury what He’s given you; instead, develop it and let Him multiply it for His glory. Whether it’s serving in your church, reaching out to your community, or discipling someone else, take a step today to grow and be equipped for every good work God has prepared for you. [01:34:05]
Hebrews 5:14 (ESV)
“But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
Reflection: What is one practical step you can take today to grow in your faith or use your gifts to serve others?
As the vibrant colors of fall arrive and we prepare for our annual Harvest Festival, it’s a joy to gather as a family of believers, celebrating God’s faithfulness over 60 years at Shiloh. In this season, we’re reminded that God is not only the God of miracles—healing, restoring, and transforming lives—but also the God who calls and equips each of us for a unique purpose. The call to be an equipping church is rooted in Ephesians 4, where Christ gives leaders to the church not to do all the ministry themselves, but to prepare every believer for works of service. This is not a spectator sport; every member is essential, and every gift matters.
God’s design is for us to move from being consumers to contributors, from simply attending church to being the church. Like a team where every player is needed, or a body where every ligament supports growth, we are called to step out of our comfort zones and use the gifts God has placed in our hands. Growth happens when we allow ourselves to be stretched, to serve, and to love others authentically. Sometimes, like bonsai trees, we can limit our growth by staying in safe, small containers, but God invites us to step out in faith and bear fruit.
Equipping is both about repairing and preparing. God mends our brokenness, restores us, and then prepares us for impact—not because we are perfect, but because we are willing. He sees the version of us that we cannot yet see, and he is faithful to complete the good work he began. This process ensures a legacy, as we pass the baton to the next generation, equipping others to lead and serve. Our calling is not just local but global, as we send out leaders and disciple-makers to the nations.
Jesus himself modeled equipping: he walked with his disciples, sent them out, and commissioned them to make disciples of all nations. True equipping happens in relationship, in the ordinary moments of life, and through intentional investment in others. Now, it’s our turn to say yes—to grow, to discover and use our gifts, to serve, to fulfill the Great Commission, and to equip others. God has placed his Spirit within us, given us his Word, and set us in a body where we can be trained and released. We are chosen, called, and empowered to shine his light in the world.
Ephesians 4:11-16 (ESV) — 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,
12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,
16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Some believers live their lives like bonsai trees. They look good on the surface, but their growth is stunted. Now, it's not because God hasn't called them to more, but it's because they've stayed in a safe small container. They've avoided stepping out, they've avoided being stretched and allowing God to equip them and use them well. If we want to grow, who here wants to grow into all that? God has called you to be, to bear God good fruit in Him. He's called us to get out of the pot, step out in faith. That's how we're going to bear fruit and not live like bonsai believers. All the parts working together with Jesus as the head. Right? That's what we read earlier. Christ at the head. All the gifts engaged everyone. Moving from a place of consumer to contributor, from a place of spectator to participant. From being blessed to becoming a blessing, from attending church to being the church of Jesus Christ. Come on now. It's exciting to be part of of the kingdom of God. [01:14:57] (31 seconds) #FromSpectatorToParticipant
``God repairs us, and then he prepares us. It's about readiness. God gets us ready to make an impact. Not because we're perfect, far from it, or qualified, but because he equips those that he loves. Jesus Never asks, are you gifted? Are you talented? Can you preach? Can you speak? He asks, do you love me? The reality is you don't have to be gifted to be used by God. If you seek him first, he will give you the gifts that are needed. You don't have to be liked by others to be used by God. If you love him, he's gonna give you favor with men and women. You don't have to be chosen by people to be used by God. All you gotta do is love the Lord, your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and God will open the doors that no man can close. [01:18:32] (56 seconds) #ReadyToImpact
That's exactly what happens when one small ack lands in the hand of God. A single stone doesn't just make a splash. It sends out ripples that reach well beyond where it landed. And that's what Jesus did when he commissions his disciples. It started with a small group of ordinary people in Galilee. But the ripples of their obedience reached the nations and miracles followed them. That believe the gospel didn't stay in one place. It spread to the very ends of the earth. And you know what? We're part of those ripples today. Someone obeyed the Great Commission. Someone told us the gospel message. And it's reached us. And we're to continue that. [01:32:15] (48 seconds) #RipplesOfObedience
Equipping begins with a personal yes. We don't move into maturity by mere accident. It's not something that happens organically. It's intentional. Hebrews 5:14 reminds us that maturity comes through constant use. We gotta use it to grow. Or as you heard the saying before, use it or lose it. [01:33:47] (23 seconds) #IntentionalSpiritualGrowth
What if every believer at Shiloh saw themselves not just attenders, but as ambassadors of hope? What if every person took the responsibility for their spiritual growth? If every person discovered and used their gifts? If every person saw their workplace, their neighborhood, their schools as their assignment, as their mission field? What if every person discipled another person? The church would grow stronger, the mission would accelerate, and the kingdom of God would advance. [01:36:49] (35 seconds) #AmbassadorsOnMission
God is the one who equips you. He's placed His Holy Spirit inside of you. He has given you His Word. He has placed you in a body, his church, where you can grow and be trained. You are chosen. Say it with me. I am chosen. I am called. I am empowered. I am part of a royal priesthood. He has called me out of darkness into his marvelous light so I can shine. Just as the priests from the Old Testament had sacred functions, so do you. You are called to minister before God and represent him to the world. Jesus modeled the way, and now you're called to continue his mission. [01:38:05] (45 seconds) #ChosenAndEmpowered
