[51:43]Observation questions
- What three equal blessings does Paul say Gentiles receive in Ephesians 3:6, and what do those words show about their place among God’s people? [47:00]
- What details in Ephesians 3:7–10 describe both Paul’s attitude toward himself and the mission God gave him?
- What Old Testament words in Genesis 12:3 and Isaiah 49:6 show that God’s plan always included blessing the nations, not Israel alone? [51:30]
- In Ephesians 3:12–13, what two gifts do believers have in Christ, and what does Paul ask the Ephesians not to do because of his suffering? [01:04:27]
Interpretation questions
- Paul calls himself “a prisoner of Christ Jesus” while he is under Roman arrest. What does this title reveal about who Paul believes has the final authority over his life and circumstances? [44:04]
- If Gentile believers are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the same promise, what does this mean for the way believers should view spiritual status, background, maturity, or usefulness in the church? [49:59]
- Paul received revelation about Christ and then was made a servant of the gospel. Why is biblical truth meant to lead beyond gaining information and into serving others and making Christ known? [53:47]
- Paul says his suffering is for the Ephesians’ glory. How can suffering be painful and wrong without being meaningless or outside of God’s ability to use it for good? [01:06:03]
Application questions
- What labels most strongly compete with identity in Christ right now—work, family role, school, success, failure, relationship status, health, or something else? How might viewing yourself first as belonging to Christ change the way you face that area this week? [45:42]
- The gospel has no “junior varsity” believers. Is there anyone you are tempted to see as less mature, less welcome, less important, or less likely to be used by God? What would it look like to treat that person as a fellow heir in Christ? [50:04]
- Christ gives believers boldness and access to the Father. What is one burden, fear, hidden struggle, or raw emotion you have been holding back from God? What would a simple, honest prayer about it sound like? [01:02:01]
- God’s grace gave Paul both a calling and the power to carry it out. Is there a place where you sense God inviting you to serve but feel too inadequate, busy, or unprepared? What is one faithful next step you could take while trusting God to supply what you need? [58:50]
- Paul’s growing influence did not make him proud; it made him more aware of grace. Where might pride be quietly showing up in your service, gifts, knowledge, or reputation? How can gratitude for grace help you serve with humility? [01:00:11]
- Think about a hardship you are currently carrying or have carried recently. Without calling the pain itself good, how might Christ be using your faithful response to strengthen, encourage, or point someone else toward Him? #!!1:07:18!!
