19s
“And so biblical headship, this idea of biblical leadership that men are supposed to lead their families is not about getting your own way, but is the responsibility to help your family flourish in Jesus.”
43s
“And when we start to not see that picture, and we start to see things as my way versus your way, or my things and your things, and I see it this, and you see it, and we start to operate that way, we've missed this key of what God says he's designed us to be in marriage. Is that we are to be this one flesh. And I think so many problems in marriage stem from this idea where it becomes me against you, or I want my way. Instead of the way he designed it, as if we're one flesh and we're together, and then everything is seeking to love the other.”
47s
“And so the way it calls us to love our wives is the same way that Christ loves us, and he gave himself up for us that we could grow into the fullness of what we were created to be. So think about the whole of the gospel and how that informs the way in which we're to love our wives. So Jesus came to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. He lives a life that we haven't lived. He dies to the death that we deserve. He takes our place on the cross. He bears the wrath of God for our sin. And then when we put our trust in Jesus, he gives us all the benefits of everything that he has done. We are a new creation, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and he begins to remake us from one degree of glory to another.”
