Enough is too much names the holy moment when suffering has gone too far, when abuse has become more than any soul should have to bear. God created man and woman in his image and likeness, and together, peacefully, they were meant to show “the complete picture of our God.” Abuse has no place in that picture, because God is a God of compassion, love, and justice.

Lot’s story becomes a painful window into a home where the outside looked important, but the inside was broken. Lot sat at the gate, a place of privilege, judgment, and moral responsibility, yet the city’s immorality had affected him more than his righteousness had affected the city. His offer of his daughters to the men of Sodom raises terrible questions: How did those daughters feel? Where was their mother? What had happened to the structure of that home? The silence around Lot’s wife until she looks back tells its own sad story.

The home is called to be Bethel, a place where the face of God is seen. Children must not leave home without knowing their worth. Sons and daughters must not be defined by false prophecies from the outside world, but by the truth that they were “good enough to die for.” Marriage must not be rushed as if singleness were a disgrace. The train must be allowed to leave rather than run over a child who has not yet learned self value.

The pain of abused women and girls is not hidden from God. The statistics from global reports tell stories that smiling faces at church doors may never tell. Violence begins early, follows people through life, grows in homes, online spaces, forced marriages, trafficking, and even crisis seasons like COVID and climate displacement. The enemy has done this, and the roaring lion still seeks whom he may devour.

Christ answers that violence with a stronger love. The Lion of the tribe of Judah is lamblike, but stronger than the destroyer. Jesus paid the price in full, rose from the grave, and intercedes for those who come to him. The call is not only to say “enough is too much,” but to stand, report, speak, donate, write, and act before tomorrow becomes too late.
