One of the great deceptions of the evil one that would show up in our lives and show up in the world around us is this whole idea that he's going to look and convince people, systems, nations, individual that what is what is evil is actually the good thing and what is good or godly or Christlike is actually the evil thing. What is dark is actually the enlightened thing and what is light is the backwards old-fashioned dark thing. [00:34:00]

So, these lies and deceptions of the devil, like I said, they're timeless and they're universal. You'll see it all throughout history. Uh you'll see it all throughout uh our culture. You'll see it all throughout cultures all over the world. There's nothing new about it because it's a spiritual issue. It's not simply a cultural issue. [00:37:09]

Every culture that is far from God, every one of them, you can mark it, you can research it, you can you can look at it and prove it to yourself. Every culture that is far from God, for instance, will always despise children. Always. They will always find them inconvenient. They will always find them mealsome. They will use them as commodities. [00:37:30]

All throughout history and every culture throughout time that is godless. That is far from God that there is a distortion of God's design for sex and sexuality. You will always find that all around you all throughout history that sex is no longer a loving act between a male and a female, husband and wife, but now it's a perverted act of worship. [00:38:44]

And you just go throughout history and you'll see that pursuit again and again. And you will see that collapse again and again. And it's universal and it's timeless. Well, why? Because it's spiritual. And these are just three examples. I'm just trying to help us get our head around it. But there's a deception. Why would people time and time and time again believe that? [00:39:51]

When you live in the middle of all of these lies, you can easily become numb to those lies and you can accept those lies as truth. You can be deceived into believing that what is good is evil and what is evil is good. And as people receive that, it goes from like what's wrong with the culture and what's wrong with the government and it starts winding up showing up in our everyday lives and it wounds us and if we believe the lies it causes us to wound others. [00:41:05]

If you have been abused or abandoned or neglected, the reason that you were abused, abandoned or neglected is because somebody in your life was deceived. And they were deceived into believing that your life is cheap. It's not worth the sacrifice of their life. It's not worth being tied down. It's not worth being a responsible father or mother. You're just a kid. You'll get over it. You'll outgrow it. [00:41:33]

If you've ever been used sexually, it's because somebody had a distorted view of sex and sexuality and they used you. They used you for your body. They used you for their sexual gratification. Then they never talked to you again. They used you and abused you. Someone distorted or believed the distortion of God's design of sex and sexuality. [00:42:41]

So, these big schemes, and by the way, there's nothing new about the story. Read the Old Testament, read history. It plays itself out again and again and again. But it's what's happening around us and it's the culture that we live in. And it is a scheme of the evil one because the three things I mentioned are some of the most painful things that can happen in our lives. [00:44:14]

And one of the things that it does is it causes us then to recognize places in our lives where we believe these things and where we have been deceived ourselves. So on a big level, that's what's happening. And it will start to define us unless Jesus intervenes and the truth of his word and the truth of who he is intervenes into our life. [00:46:28]

Don't copy the behavior and the customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way that you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. So the Apostle Paul is coming in. And he's saying, "Listen, you got to recognize this stuff. [00:47:05]

God is teaching us that we have to evaluate ourselves and we have to test every idea, every philosophy, every worldview that comes our way. So in other words, he's saying, listen, knowing that there are patterns that are used by the devil to deceive you, like now we know that, and knowing that the devil schemes to trick and hurt you, it's not an accident. [00:49:00]

We need to be people who know and understand the truth of God so that we can see through the deceptions of the devil. And the Bible describes this. And the Bible describes what it's like or how you gain that knowledge and that understanding. So for instance, the Bible would say we need to get for ourselves godly wisdom. [00:49:59]

Gaining the whole world makes all the sense in the world if I'm only defined by the world. But I'd have to know that Jesus says if you gain the whole world, you're going to lose your soul. We'll never pick that up on YouTube. That never shows up on TikTok. I only get that truth from God. So I have a knowledge of God and then I have discernment from God. [00:51:30]

If I don't do that, the deception will take root in me and it will define me and it will affect me and I will start to live my life off the common lies that I've been taught to live my life off of. So I'll look and say, "Well, the deception makes sense. The devil always distorts sex and sexuality." [00:53:20]

If you're not a Jesus follower yet, that's what God wants for you. She's an extreme example, but that's how it works. And you'll go from blind in a dark room. And if you'll let Jesus flip that switch, life will light up. And you'll see it for what it is. You'll see the schemes. You'll see the lies. You'll see the lies that have locked on to you.
