There is a spiritual battle over the important areas of your life.
Every person has a “territory”—areas like marriage, relationships, finances, career, and spiritual life—that matter deeply and are under constant attack. Just as nations fight for land and resources, the enemy is not just after you as an individual, but after the territory God has entrusted to you. The enemy’s goal is to disrupt, divide, and destroy what matters most in your life, whether it’s your family, your faith, or your future. Recognizing this ongoing battle is the first step to standing guard and refusing to let the enemy take ground in your life. [28:16]
Mark 5:1-10 (ESV)
They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country.
Reflection: What area of your life feels most under attack right now, and how can you begin to intentionally pray for and protect that territory today?
The enemy doesn’t just fight you for where you are, but for where you’re going.
The enemy’s attacks are not only about your present circumstances, but also about your future potential. He sees what you could become if you fully surrendered to God and stepped into your calling. That’s why the opposition can feel so intense—because the enemy is threatened by the impact you could have, the lives you could touch, and the legacy you could leave. Just as the demon-possessed man in Mark 5 was afflicted by a legion because of his potential, and as Moses and Jesus faced attacks in their infancy, your battles may be a sign of the great things God has in store for you. [35:11]
Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Reflection: What is one dream or calling you’ve been hesitant to pursue because of fear or opposition, and how might God be inviting you to trust Him with your future today?
Breakthrough comes when you refuse to tolerate what holds you back.
Many people find themselves stuck in difficult situations—struggling marriages, broken relationships, financial hardship, or spiritual stagnation—because they have grown accustomed to tolerating the enemy’s presence in their territory. True change begins when you decide that enough is enough and refuse to let the enemy have any more ground. Like pushing through the turbulence on a flight to reach blue skies, you must persevere and fight back, trusting that God will bring you through to victory if you do not give up. [33:35]
Ephesians 4:27 (ESV)
And give no opportunity to the devil.
Reflection: What is one negative pattern or situation you’ve been tolerating in your life, and what step can you take today to confront it and invite God’s power to bring change?
You are called to actively fight for what God has given you.
God has given you authority to stand up and fight for your marriage, your children, your finances, your future, and your church. Passivity allows the enemy to remain, but when you put on your “fight back gloves” and declare, “Enough!” you begin to reclaim what the enemy has tried to steal. This is not a battle you fight alone—God is with you, and He calls you to pray, to speak truth, and to take action. Together, as a church, we are also called to fight for the local church, refusing to let it die in our nation. [40:19]
James 4:7 (ESV)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Reflection: Where do you need to take a stand and “fight back” in your life or in your church, and what would that look like in practical terms this week?
The health of the local church is everyone’s responsibility.
The decline of churches in our nation is not someone else’s problem—it is a call to action for every believer. When we fight for the local church, we are fighting for the hope of our communities and the future of the gospel in our land. Rescued churches rescue people, and your prayers, generosity, and involvement make a difference. The answer to our nation’s problems is not found in politics or government, but in God’s house, as His people rise up to protect and strengthen the church for generations to come. [44:26]
Matthew 16:18 (ESV)
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Reflection: What is one way you can actively support, pray for, or serve your local church this week to help it thrive and reach more people?
This morning, we gathered to reflect on the idea of “territory”—the areas of our lives that matter most: our families, marriages, relationships, careers, finances, and spiritual lives. Just as in sports or war, where the battle is always about territory, so too in our spiritual lives there is a constant struggle for the ground that God has entrusted to us. The enemy is not just after us as individuals; he is after the territory we influence and steward.
Drawing from Mark 5, we looked at the story of Jesus and the demon-possessed man. When Jesus confronted the demon, the demon’s plea was not to stay in the man, but to remain in the territory. This reveals a profound spiritual truth: the enemy’s primary concern is not simply to oppress individuals, but to maintain a foothold in the places and relationships that shape our lives and communities. The enemy is always fighting for territory—our homes, our children, our churches, and our future.
We also considered how the enemy’s attacks are not just about where we are now, but about where we are going. The intensity of the battle often reflects the potential God has placed within us. The enemy sees what we could become if we fully surrender to God, and he seeks to derail that destiny before it can be realized. This is why some of us have faced such fierce opposition, setbacks, or even near-misses in life. The enemy is threatened by the future impact we could have for God’s kingdom.
But we are not called to be passive. We must fight back for our territory—refusing to let the enemy have our marriages, our children, our finances, or our spiritual lives. This also extends to the local church, which is under attack in our nation. With churches closing at an alarming rate, we are called to stand together, to pray, to give, and to serve, so that the church can continue to be a beacon of hope and transformation in our communities.
Let us be people who refuse to tolerate the enemy’s presence in our territory. Let us fight back, trusting that God is with us, and that as we persevere, we will see breakthrough and blue skies on the other side of the storm.
You know, when Jesus was born, Herod comes along and says in an orchestra, orchestrates it with the enemy and they kill all the babies under two years old. Why? Because I think the enemy looked over at Jesus and said, oh, he's a baby right now, but I see what he's going to become. He wasn't concerned about Jesus' territory. He was concerned about his future territory. [00:35:18] (16 seconds) #EnemyTargetsFutureTerritory
How about in the Old Testament? There's a guy named Moses. When he's born, same thing happens. Enemy orchestrates it with a guy named Pharaoh. They have all the babies under two years old killed. Why? Because I think the enemy was in the background going, oh, I see what this little kid Moses is going to do and I'm going to take care of that problem right now. [00:35:34] (15 seconds) #EnemyTargetsFutureLeaders
I think we have to, I think we have to fight back. We can't just sit idly by nothing. We have to fight back. And I don't know what's going on in your life, but I'm telling you that whatever's happening in your life, whatever's going on in your life, we got to fight back. And we got to say, man, enough. I'm not going to let you do that. And we got to come to a place where we say, hey, enemy, get your hands off my marriage. Get your hands off my finances. Get your hands off my kids. Get your hands off my grandkids. Get your hands off my future. Get your hands off my career. Get your hands off. And we fight back. [00:39:58] (36 seconds) #ProtectYourTerritory
We cannot sit idly by. Now, what I'm going through and you're going through are completely different. But there is a territory that we all share that is just as much as your responsibility as it is mine. And that's the territory that the enemy's trying to take. He's taking the territory of the local church. [00:40:34] (21 seconds) #SaveTheLocalChurch
Fight for your territory. Fight for your territory. Whatever that territory is, you got to fight. But help us with prayer. Help us with your kingdom builders that we can fight for the local church. You got your own territory. I got mine. But together, there's one that we are all responsible for. It's the local church. We can't let it die in America. How many agree with me on that? [00:44:09] (26 seconds)
We believe with all of our heart that rescued churches will rescue people and rescued churches will rescue people. And we're going to do that. And we're going to do that. And we're going to rescue America. The answer is not the White House. The answer is God's house. That's the answer. I don't care if you like the president or don't. None of that matters. I don't care who's the president. They ain't going to solve this problem. This problem's ours. We got to fight for the local church. [00:44:35] (26 seconds) #FightForYourTerritoryTogether
