Day 1: United in Shared Suffering, Strengthened in Faith
Suffering is not a sign of abandonment but a shared experience among believers. When trials come, remember that you are part of a larger body of Christ enduring hardship together. This shared journey calls for mutual encouragement and support, helping each other to persevere and remain united in faith. Your pain is not meaningless; it becomes a powerful testimony of God’s sustaining grace working through community and connection.
In moments of struggle, it is vital to lean on fellow believers and to stand firm together, knowing that God’s presence is with all who suffer. This collective endurance strengthens the church and deepens the faith of each individual, reminding us that no one walks alone in their trials. The unity forged in suffering is a reflection of God’s love and faithfulness to His people. [07:35]
“Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” — 1 Peter 4:19
Reflection: Who in your faith community is currently struggling, and how can you intentionally encourage and support them this week?
Day 2: Temporary Trials, Eternal Hope
The difficulties and trials you face are temporary, lasting only “for a little while” compared to the eternal glory that awaits. This perspective shifts your focus from the heaviness of present pain to the surpassing value of the future God has prepared. Every tear and hardship will be wiped away in the fullness of God’s kingdom, where suffering will be no more.
Holding onto this eternal hope empowers you to endure present challenges with patience and trust. It reminds you that your faith, refined through trials, is precious and leads to everlasting life. This hope is not wishful thinking but a confident assurance rooted in God’s promises and His unchanging character. [10:26]
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17
Reflection: When you feel overwhelmed by current struggles, what specific truth about eternity can you remind yourself of to renew your hope today?
Day 3: Grace That Sustains Beyond Merit
God’s grace is unearned and sufficient for every trial you face. It is freely given, not because of anything you have done, but because God loves you and has called you by name. This grace is the foundation that enables you to endure hardships and remain faithful, no matter the circumstances.
Recognizing that grace is a gift frees you from striving to earn God’s favor and invites you to rest in His strength. It is a personal and intentional calling that equips you to face life’s challenges with courage and peace. God’s grace is always enough, sustaining you through every season of difficulty. [12:46]
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
Reflection: Identify one area of your life where you are trying to rely on your own strength instead of God’s grace. How can you practically surrender that area to His sustaining power today?
Day 4: Restoration Through Brokenness
God promises to restore those who are broken by life’s hardships. When you feel shattered, God does not discard you but lovingly gathers the pieces and makes you whole again. Your brokenness becomes the canvas for His redemptive work, transforming pain into purpose and wholeness.
This restoration is not just about healing but about being re-established in God’s plan and purpose. It confirms your value in His sight and renews your strength to move forward. Trust that God is actively working to mend what is broken and to bring beauty from your trials. [14:18]
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Reflection: What brokenness in your life do you need to invite God to restore today, trusting that He will make you whole and purposeful again?
Day 5: Jesus, the Unshakable Foundation
In a world of shifting sands, Jesus is the only sure foundation. Everything else—wealth, status, even gold—is temporary and unreliable. When you build your life on Christ, you find stability, security, and hope that endures beyond this life.
Jesus, the master builder, knows exactly what you need and how to establish you firmly for eternity. Placing your hope in Him means standing secure amid life’s storms, anchored in His unchanging love and power. This foundation is the source of true peace and confidence as you navigate the uncertainties of life. [16:51]
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” — Matthew 7:24
Reflection: In what practical ways can you build your daily decisions and priorities on Jesus as your firm foundation starting today?
Sermon Summary
When life feels overwhelming and it seems like you’ve done all you can, remember that God has been too good for us to sit on our praise. Even in the midst of suffering, pain, and brokenness, God invites us to keep praising, to keep standing, and to keep hoping. The early Christians faced persecution and hardship, yet Peter’s letter reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles—believers everywhere are enduring trials. But after we have suffered for a little while, God promises restoration, strength, and a firm foundation.
Suffering is not the end of the story. It is temporary, a “little while” compared to the eternal glory that awaits us. Our faith, tested and refined through trials, is more precious than gold. While gold perishes, faith leads us to everlasting life with God. God’s grace is freely given, not because we deserve it, but because He loves us and has called us by name. He is intentional in His purpose for us, handpicking us to share in His eternal kingdom where there will be no more pain, sorrow, or tears.
God promises to restore us, mending our brokenness and making us whole again. He confirms and strengthens us, giving us stability and balance so we can keep moving forward. Our suffering is not wasted; it is evidence that we belong to Him. He establishes us on a solid foundation—Jesus Christ, the solid rock. Everything else is temporary and shifting, but when we build our hope on Jesus, we stand secure.
No matter what you’re facing—heartache, loss, rejection, or shame—God knows exactly what you need and how much you can bear. He is the master builder, the Alpha and Omega, and He is preparing you for the glory to come. Don’t give up. Don’t throw in the towel. For His glory, endure, and trust that He is working all things together for your good. He is waiting for you to surrender, to let Him be your Lord and Savior, and to carry you through.
Key Takeaways
1. Suffering is a shared experience among believers, not a sign of abandonment. When we face trials, we are not alone; the entire body of Christ endures hardship together. This shared suffering calls us to encourage and uplift one another, fostering perseverance and unity in the faith. Our pain is not wasted, but becomes a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. [07:35]
2. The trials we endure are temporary, but the hope and glory God promises are eternal. Even if suffering feels endless, it is only “for a little while” when compared to eternity. This perspective shifts our focus from the weight of our current pain to the surpassing value of our future with Christ, where every tear will be wiped away. [10:26]
3. God’s grace is both unearned and sufficient for every trial. He freely gives us the strength to face whatever comes, not because we have earned it, but because He loves us and has called us by name. His grace is the foundation that enables us to endure, and it is always enough, no matter the circumstance. [12:46]
4. Restoration is God’s promise to the broken. He does not discard us when we are shattered by life’s hardships; instead, He lovingly puts the pieces back together, making us whole and valuable in His sight. Our brokenness becomes the canvas for His redemptive work, and His restoration brings us back to purpose and wholeness. [14:18]
5. Jesus is the only sure foundation in a world of shifting sands. Everything else—wealth, status, even gold—is temporary and unreliable. When we build our lives on Christ, we find stability, security, and hope that endures beyond this life. He is the master builder who knows exactly what we need and how to establish us for eternity. 1 Peter 5:9-10 (ESV) > "Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
Romans 5:3-5 (ESV) > "Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
Revelation 21:4 (ESV) > "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Observation Questions

Sermon Clips
Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. Verse 10, and after you have suffered a little while, and after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, with himself, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. [00:04:37]
After this and after that, there is hope for you. I don't know what you're after this and you're after that is, but just know, my brothers and sisters, that there is hope for you. Yes, there is hope for you because God is hope. Hope for today. Hope for beyond tomorrow. Knowing that things of this world... [00:05:18]
That's the kind of God that we serve. He walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me that I am his own. [00:05:55]
We know that Satan's job is to kill, steal, and destroy by any means necessary. [00:06:25]
He doesn't care about your title. He doesn't care about your address. He doesn't care about your family makeup. [00:06:34]
We are to stand firm in our faith, having the confidence that God is with us always. Satan is defeated. We fight from victory, not to gain victory. [00:07:35]
In our last section of verse 9, we see here that other brotherhood or other people of the church are going through suffering. We want to recognize that there is a shared experience. [00:07:54]
when we suffer that's why it's so important for us not to look down on our brothers and sisters because we all are going through something we are to courage one another to keep going and guess what that's called perseverance my second point embrace God's promises it says in verse 10 after you suffered for a little while after you have suffered for a little while say a little while just like when you tell your kids I'll be there in a little while they're like mommy you take it forever right just a little while knowing that that word a little while is temporary it's just for a season so after you have suffered after the heartache after the discipline [00:08:10]
after the divorce, after the eviction, after the loss of a job, after they have talked about you like a dirty dog, call you all kind of names that's for a child of God, after, after you have suffered, after you have gone through for a little while, you must endure the suffering. [00:09:13]
Romans 5 35 says it like this, not only that but we rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Again, that word a little while, it's temporary, it's short time, it doesn't last very long, it's puny, it's tiny, it's only for a season. We don't know exactly when it will end but will come, it will come. [00:09:39]
Catherine but I've been telling with this issue for seven years and I've been dealing with that and this and all the things but guess what when we think about our situation it's only short compared with eternity it's only light when it could and when it's compared to the eternal the eternal weight of glory and so when we look at first Peter in 6 through 7 it says in this we rejoice greatly even though now for a little while if necessary you have been distressed by various trials so that the genuineness the genuineness of your faith which is much more precious than gold which is perishable even though or even though through the testing and period purified by fire may be found to the result in your praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ to sum it up [00:10:29]
means your faith is more important than gold because gold is temporary your faith is permanent your faith is going to lead you to heaven with God in his kingdom as we continue to look at that verse 10 it said the God of all grace the one who gives you unmerited favor freely given to us to face any problem trial or concern because of him we can make it because the God of grace is with us he gives it to us it's not what we deserve but he freely gives it to you he has called you to his eternal glory I'm still in verse 10 called you summons you he invited you in you were handpicked for his purpose to fulfill his prompt his purpose it was all intentional [00:11:35]
so he's calling us to share in his eternal kingdom in his kingdom there will be joy there will be peace love for eternity revelation 21 and 4 says he will wipe every tear from your eyes and he and the death shall be no more neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore for the form of things have been passed away so what we're experiencing right now we're not going to experience when the time comes that is good news y 'all should have shouted on that that's good news to know that there's an end date to our suffering to our hardship to our pain yes we're going through it but guess what it's the testing god is trying to remove some things from our life but we have to go through sometimes we don't want to go through but we got to go through because guess what [00:12:44]
God suffered and so are we. We're going to have to suffer. [00:13:47]
So there's four things, and I'll be out of your way this morning, I promise, that he is going to do. It says in verse 10, he said, he will restore you. Say, restore you. Okay. He's bringing you back to wholeness. He's mending those broken pieces of your life, piece by piece. [00:13:54]
He's putting you all back together again because that's how valuable you are to him. Have you ever had something that was broken and you kind of threw it away? Guess what? That's not the kind of God that we serve. [00:14:18]
He sees us as valuable. We're broken into pieces, but he's putting us back together again because we're important. He can't just throw us away. Because he loves us. [00:14:32]
in our mother's womb he knew us he knew all about us and guess what he knows everything that you're going through he will confirm and strengthen you he's making you firm he's adding stability to you that means he's putting a balance in you that when you move try to move to the left or to the right you're stable you're still going you're moving forward no matter what comes or goes he is adding stability to you so you can keep going he's making you aware he's making you aware that you belong to him because the evidence of your suffering there's evidence in your suffering when we suffer for Christ there's people that don't like you because you are a child of God [00:14:50]
And last, he will establish you, providing you a solid foundation in him. [00:15:59]
There's materials that are needed to make it strong, durable, and resistance to various environmental factors. [00:16:16]
You need the proper sizing and connection. You need an expert who knows what they're doing. So you just can't ask anybody to build you a house. You wanna ask somebody who has some expertise. [00:16:25]
I know he knows exactly what I need. He knows how much to give me and what to hold back. He knows when to tell me certain things and when not to tell me certain things. He knows just how much I can bear. He knows the beginning and the end. He's called Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. His name, if you're wondering this morning, his name is Jesus. [00:16:59]
Jesus is our hope and a firm foundation. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, this solid rock I stand. All of the ground is sinking sand. All of the ground is sinking sand. Hallelujah. [00:17:24]
