God promises every believer the gift of spiritual power through the Holy Spirit, not for earthly gain, but to equip and enable us to fulfill our purpose as witnesses to His goodness and grace. This power is not just strength, but includes courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority—gifts that help us shine as lights in a dark world and speak God’s word with conviction. Earthly power fades, but the power of the Holy Spirit is eternal, purposeful, and full of promise, giving us what we need to live out our calling. [01:10:16]
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you most need the Holy Spirit’s power today, and how can you invite Him to fill you with boldness and ability to be a witness right where you are?
True worship is not confined to Sunday mornings or church gatherings; it is a lifestyle that reorients our focus from ourselves to God, connecting us with the divine and transforming both our hearts and our communities. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, worship becomes an everyday experience—overflowing into our work, our homes, and every moment, regardless of who is watching. Genuine worship leads us to witness, and when we truly encounter God’s presence, we cannot help but express our gratitude and praise, no matter the setting. [01:15:56]
John 4:23-24 (ESV)
"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
Reflection: Where in your daily routine can you intentionally pause to worship God, letting your gratitude and praise overflow beyond Sunday morning?
Every believer is called to be a witness, sharing not rumors or secondhand stories, but the truth of what God has done in their own life. Our testimony is powerful because it is rooted in personal experience—our tests become the foundation for our testimony, and our witness begins right where we are before spreading outward. God does not give us power to elevate ourselves, but to point others to Him, and sometimes He even uses our trials and discomfort to move us into new places where our witness is needed most. [01:24:11]
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Reflection: Who in your immediate circle needs to hear your testimony of God’s faithfulness, and how can you share your story with them this week?
Before we can receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we must first have an experience with Him—an encounter that often takes us out of our comfort zones and redirects our plans to align with God’s greater purpose. Too often, we desire the benefits of God’s power without surrendering to the process of transformation that comes through the Spirit’s work in us. When we let go and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, He takes us places we never imagined, shaping us into vessels for His glory and equipping us for every good work. [01:13:00]
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you sense God calling you out of your comfort zone, and how can you surrender that area to the Holy Spirit’s transforming work?
No matter what we face—loss, uncertainty, or spiritual bankruptcy—God is our guarantor, covering what we cannot and providing for every need through His grace and mercy. Just as a guarantor pays what we owe when we fall short, God connects our lives to His limitless resources, ensuring that we are never alone or without hope. His presence protects, guides, and sustains us, and His love is demonstrated in Christ’s sacrifice, giving us abundant life and the assurance that all things work together for our good. [01:04:43]
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
Reflection: Recall a time when God provided for you in a way you could not have managed on your own—how can you express gratitude and trust Him with your current needs today?
Today’s gathering was a celebration of God’s faithfulness, the power of prayer, and the assurance that comes from being connected to the living God. We began by acknowledging that no matter what we face—loss, uncertainty, or the storms of life—God is our provider, healer, and peace. He is the great “I Am,” able to meet every need, and we are never alone because His presence is with us through the Holy Spirit. We gave thanks for Jesus, whose sacrifice and blood have secured our salvation and daily strength.
Drawing from Acts 1:8, we reflected on the promise Jesus gave before His ascension: that we would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, enabling us to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. This power is not about earthly status or influence, but about spiritual ability—courage, boldness, and authority—to testify to God’s goodness. Just as a guarantor covers what we cannot, God covers our spiritual deficits. When we are spiritually bankrupt, our account is connected to God’s, and He supplies what we lack.
We considered three guarantees God gives: guaranteed power, guaranteed worship, and a guaranteed witness. The Holy Spirit empowers us not just for our own benefit, but so we can be effective witnesses. Worship is not confined to Sunday mornings; it is a lifestyle that reorients our focus from ourselves to God. True worship leads naturally to witness—when we have truly encountered God, we cannot help but share what He has done.
Being a witness means telling the truth about what we have seen and experienced with God. Our testimony is born out of our tests and trials, and God often uses our challenges to move us out of our comfort zones so that His message can spread. The call is to start where we are, but not to stay there—God’s purpose is for the gospel to reach every corner of the earth. We closed with an invitation to respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, reminding all that today is the day to get right with God, and that in Christ, we are never alone.
Acts 1:8 (ESV) — > "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
If I can stand up for three hours and cheer for the cowboys, if I can pay $225 for a ticket and $125 for a parking, if I can pay $28 for a Frito pie and some drink, surely I can give God my best praise in the house of the Lord.
Is there anybody know that your life and spiritual account is connected to God? God, that when you go spiritually bankrupt, God is your guarantor. [01:05:32]
And so can I tell you, I've realized in my spiritual journey that my purpose is not to get rich. My purpose is not to be popular among men. My purpose is not to have glory on this side. But my purpose is to be a witness to the goodness and the grace of God. [01:07:11]
But your primary concern should not be about political power that comes with the restoration of Israel's kingdom. But it ought to be about spiritual power that will come through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. [01:08:34]
You know, too often we look for earthly power. But is there anybody in here that says, I need spiritual power? Earthly power is temporal. But spiritual power is eternal. Earthly power is problematic. But spiritual power is full of promises. Earthly power is prideful. But spiritual power is purposeful. [01:09:29]
This power that comes from God by way of the Holy Spirit, it is not limited to strength beyond the ordinary. But that power also involves courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority. [01:10:17]
When you receive the power of the Holy Spirit, you'll be able to speak the word of God boldly and with conviction. When you have the power of the Holy Spirit, you'll be able not to walk timid in the grace and the mercy that God has given unto you. [01:10:55]
After Jesus' ascension, the Holy Spirit will come to be our connection with God. And in the 14th chapter of John, Jesus told them that the Father will send another counselor who will never leave you, and that is the Holy Spirit. Come here, let me tell you, God never leaves us without his presence in our lives. [01:11:42]
In order to receive the power of the Spirit, you first have to have an experience with the Spirit. Too often we want the power, but we don't want the experience. Let me say that again, too often we want the power, but we don't want the experience with the Holy Spirit. [01:12:50]
When you have an experience with the Holy Spirit and you let go and let watch where God takes you in your life. Watch this, the sad reality is that sometimes as believers, we're not on the same page. Watch this, sometimes we want to witness without worshiping. And sometimes we want to worship without witnessing. [01:13:58]
Worship is a lifestyle. And worship goes beyond a Sunday morning praise. See, some folk, the only time you worship is when you come to church on Sunday morning. But do I have a few folk in here that say, my worship is a lifestyle. Testify, somebody here, testify, I've been through too much not to worship. [01:14:55]
Worship connects us with the divine. It means, it is a means of personal and community transformation. Watch this, worship reorients our focus. Watch this, from us to God. Scripture says, I must decrease in order for him to increase. [01:16:07]
If you want to be witnesses, you've got to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And more than any course of training in evangelism is the filling of the Holy Spirit. [01:17:02]
When I come to worship, I've come to lift up the name of the Lord. How many of you, you get so ingrained in worship that you need to tell your neighbor, excuse me, if I get a little emotional, I might slap you across your face. It's not me, but it's the goodness of the Lord. [01:17:40]
God is not going to give you power to elevate yourself. Look, I've been in ministry long enough to know if you put yourself on a pedestal, folks are going to be sure to knock you down. But watch this, when God elevates you, John says that when I'm in his hand, no man is able to pluck me out of my father's hand. [01:20:21]
A witness is one who gives their testimonies to the things that they have seen and the things that they have heard. I'm old enough to date myself back to Matlock. I love law and order. I even used to like night court. Not the new night court, the old night court, you understand. And the thing that I realize about a witness is that you are called just to tell your truth on the things that you have seen and heard. [01:21:04]
That's why your test is a precursor to your testimony. You can't have a testimony until first you've had a test. And when you have an experience with the Lord, you can't help but to be a witness and to share your testimony. [01:24:48]
Sometimes our persecution is God trying to tell us to get out of our comfort zone. Sometimes he has to move us because we won't move ourselves. Somebody ever been moved and it wasn't your doing. But it was through some drama or traumatic experience and you had to move not on your own doing. But after a while, you say, Lord, I thank you. Because if you hadn't have moved me, I wouldn't be where I am right now. [01:27:11]
Some folk might say, it don't take all of that. But you don't know how good God has been to me. He's picked me up from the muck and the mire. What can wash away my sin, nothing but the blood of Jesus. [01:37:07]
I serve a God who is the greatest thing in my life. I like that song that say falling in love with Jesus was the best thing that I've ever done. [01:37:55]
Can I tell you, tomorrow is not promise. But what we have is our right here and our right now. I can't tell you where you're going to be next Sunday. But I do know where you are right now. And God is saying it's a good time to come. [01:39:36]
