In a world filled with violence, uncertainty, and spiritual darkness, Jesus offers a powerful promise: “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” This assurance means that no matter what chaos or evil surrounds us, Jesus has already secured victory over every dark system and force. As believers, we are not left powerless or alone; we are invited to live in the peace and authority that Christ provides, knowing that His triumph is our foundation for hope and courage. [01:51]
John 16:33 (ESV)
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Reflection: Where do you see tribulation or darkness in your life or community right now, and how can you intentionally invite the peace and authority of Jesus into that situation today?
Scripture assures us that an undeserved curse cannot harm a child of God. Just as a bird cannot be forced to land where we choose, so too a curse cannot find a resting place on those whom God has justified and blessed. The forces of darkness may attempt to intimidate or threaten, but their efforts are futile against those who walk in the covering of Christ. You are not at the mercy of curses, witchcraft, or evil intentions—God’s protection and blessing are your shield. [05:03]
Proverbs 26:2 (ESV)
“Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.”
Reflection: Is there any fear or anxiety in your heart about curses or spiritual attacks? How can you rest today in the truth that undeserved curses have no power over you?
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, believers are justified and no longer under condemnation. This means that God does not allow His children to be cursed, and no one can reverse the blessing He has spoken over your life. Even though we live in a world affected by sin and darkness, our identity in Christ secures us in His grace and favor. We are called to walk in the Spirit, not in fear, and to remember that God alone has the authority to judge and bless. [07:09]
Romans 8:1 (ESV)
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Reflection: Are you carrying any sense of guilt, shame, or fear of judgment? What would it look like to fully embrace your identity as one who is justified and free from condemnation in Christ today?
Jesus has given His followers real authority over all the power of the enemy. We are not called to hide in fear or be passive, but to stand firm and take action against spiritual darkness. Through Christ, we have the power to cast out unclean spirits, heal the sick, and break every chain the enemy tries to place on us. The enemy’s goal is to paralyze us with fear, but God’s Spirit empowers us to rise up, speak boldly, and claim victory for ourselves, our families, and our communities. [12:39]
Matthew 10:1 (ESV)
“And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life or family where you need to exercise the authority Jesus has given you? How can you take a bold, prayerful step to confront darkness today?
Though the enemy may try to affect us with fear, oppression, or heaviness, he does not own us. Once you belong to Jesus, you are owned by the Holy Spirit, and nothing the enemy does can change your true identity. Like a vehicle that may get dirty on the road but is still owned by its rightful owner, you may be affected by the world but you are not defined or possessed by it. Stand firm in your freedom, declare your belonging to Christ, and refuse to let the enemy claim any ground in your mind, home, or heart. [24:04]
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Reflection: In what ways has the enemy tried to make you feel owned or defined by fear, heaviness, or past mistakes? How can you declare and live out your true identity as one owned by the Holy Spirit today?
In a world filled with chaos, violence, and spiritual confusion, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by darkness and the sense that evil is gaining ground. Yet, Jesus’ words in John 16:33 remind us that while we will have tribulation in this world, He has already overcome it. The “world” here is not the earth itself, but the system of darkness that stands in opposition to God’s kingdom. As followers of Christ, we are not powerless victims within this system; rather, we have been given authority and power over it through Jesus’ victory.
There is much talk today about curses, spiritual attacks, and the influence of darkness. Some even fear that witches or those practicing evil can place curses on believers. But Scripture is clear: an undeserved curse cannot land on a child of God (Proverbs 26:2). No one can curse whom God has blessed. Our justification through Christ means there is no condemnation for us, and God alone has the authority to judge. While the power of darkness is real, it cannot override the blessing and protection God places on His people.
However, living in a cursed world means we can still be affected by spiritual forces—oppression, fear, depression, and other attacks. This does not mean we are cursed or owned by the enemy; rather, it is the result of living in a fallen world. The analogy of Hong Kong under British rule illustrates this: as long as we remain under God’s covering, we are protected, but stepping outside exposes us to unnecessary danger. The enemy may try to affect us, but he cannot own us. We belong to Christ, and the Holy Spirit is our true owner.
Jesus gave His disciples—and by extension, all believers—authority over all the power of the enemy. We are not called to hide in fear or simply hope for escape, but to stand boldly, take initiative, and exercise the authority given to us. When darkness tries to invade our lives, families, or minds, we are to confront it in Jesus’ name, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. Our identity is not defined by what affects us, but by the One who owns us. We are blessed, not cursed, and nothing the enemy does can change that.
John 16:33 (ESV) — > “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Proverbs 26:2 (ESV) — > “Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.”
Luke 10:19 (ESV) — > “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
The power of darkness is real. This means that a curse made against innocent people has no effect. Numbers 23 and 8, Balaam says, I can't curse who God has not cursed. I can't curse who God has not cursed. [00:05:48] (17 seconds) #GodBlocksCurses
God does not allow His children to be cursed because there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. No one has the power to curse one whom God has decided to bless. [00:07:43] (17 seconds) #BlessedNotCursed
He says because he came and died on the cross and he rose again from the dead, he's given us power and authority over the curse. We're not cursed. We have power over everything the enemy tries to affect you with. [00:09:52] (18 seconds) #PowerOverTheCurse
If we should be afraid of being cursed, Jesus would not tell us to go and cast out devils and heal all kinds of sicknesses and all kinds of diseases because what they have will get on us. Jesus did not warn the apostles to protect themselves against demon power. He did not warn them that they may become possessed or injured while rebuking devils. Jesus gave them divine authority over demonic forces. The Bible nowhere teaches disciples to fear the devil or the danger of personal demon possession. [00:13:09] (36 seconds) #FearlessAuthority
What is the enemy trying to do? Make us think let's hide in our churches. Let's hide in our prayer closets. Let's hide under our Bibles and let's sit here and let's just pray that maybe this is the Passover that Jesus comes. Jesus says no, I've given you power and authority over all the power of the enemy and it's time for the church to rise up and say be honest with you devil, you don't put fear in me. Devil, you can't come against my family. If you do I'm coming against you. Not by might, not by power, but by my spirit. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and of power and of a sound mind to realize that no weapon formed against me shall prosper and any time that rise up against us in judgment, God shall condemn. [00:16:51] (49 seconds) #RiseAgainstTheEnemy
You just square your shoulders and set your sin chin and say, in the name of Jesus I overcome all the darkness and trials that come against me, my house, my children, my marriage, my finances, this church, this house, our destiny, the plans that God has for us. You can't curse what God has blessed. Make sure you honor the blessings of God. [00:19:35] (23 seconds) #OvercomeInJesusName
Because, listen, don't ever forget this. A Christian is someone who is a Christian. who is owned by the Holy Spirit. It's the most powerful thing you're ever here. My truck is owned by me. But riding up and down the road and going places, ball fields and wherever, fields and everything else, stuff affects it. But it's still my truck. That's how the enemy does. He tries to affect you and he does affect us. But he don't own us. [00:23:47] (43 seconds) #BattlingButNotOwned
Now before you got saved, you were owned by the enemy. I know I won't. Yes, you are. You belong to him. But whenever you gave your heart to the Lord, you became born again. You became a child of God. So Christian, you're free. You're set free. And when the enemy tries to come in your house, try to come in your marriage, try to come in your children, try to come in your mind, try to come over you, say, devil, get thee behind me. Get away from me. I don't belong to you. I belong to Jesus and Jesus has set me free. Amen. [00:24:29] (48 seconds) #OwnedByHolySpirit
