Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations” is not just for the original eleven disciples or for pastors, but for every follower of Christ—calling each of us to actively share the good news, teach, and model the life of Jesus to others, starting with our families and extending to the world. [37:36]
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Reflection: Who in your life—family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors—might God be prompting you to intentionally disciple or share the love of Jesus with this week?
Baptism is not a one-time event but a continual gift from God, declaring us His beloved children, uniting us with Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, and assuring us that His grace and pursuit never stop—even when we doubt or stray. [42:41]
Romans 6:3-5 (ESV)
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Reflection: When you look in the mirror and doubt your worth or calling, how can you remind yourself today of your identity as God’s baptized, beloved child?
No one ever “arrives” as a disciple; we are all continually being taught by Jesus and others, and called to teach and model His ways to those around us, embracing a life of transformation rather than just information. [44:51]
Colossians 3:16 (ESV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Reflection: Who is someone further along in faith you can learn from, and who is someone a step behind you that you can encourage or guide in following Jesus this week?
True discipleship involves not just learning about Jesus but imitating His life, being shown how to live out faith in real relationships, and holding one another accountable as we grow together in Christ. [48:43]
1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV)
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
Reflection: What is one Christlike habit or practice you have seen in another believer that you can intentionally imitate or practice this week?
God’s forgiveness and grace, received through confession and faith, are the foundation for our calling to share the good news—reminding us that we are sent not because of our perfection, but because we are forgiven and made whole in Christ. [56:21]
Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you need to receive God’s forgiveness today, so you can move forward in sharing His love with others?
Today, we gathered as a family of faith to reflect on what it truly means to be a baptized child of God and how that identity shapes our calling to make disciples. I shared some personal stories about my father and grandfather—how they taught me many things, both good and bad, but also how there were gaps in what was passed down, especially when it came to living out a real, vibrant relationship with Jesus. This is a common struggle in many families and churches: we often pass on knowledge about God, but not always the practices and habits that nurture a living faith.
We looked closely at Jesus’ words in the Great Commission, where He calls all His followers—not just pastors or a select few—to go and make disciples of all nations. This is not a task reserved for the spiritually elite, but a calling for every believer. Jesus’ command is rooted in His authority and His gift of baptism, which is not just a one-time event but an ongoing reality. In baptism, we are united with Christ in His life, death, and resurrection. This identity is a gift that continually pursues us, even when we stray or doubt our worthiness.
Yet, Jesus doesn’t stop at baptism. He calls us to be continually taught and to teach others—to live out our faith in community, not just as individuals. Too often, churches have focused on imparting information rather than transformation. We can know a lot about God and still struggle to live as disciples who make disciples. That’s why we are committed to creating spaces and relationships where we can learn, grow, and hold each other accountable—not just in knowledge, but in living out the way of Jesus.
We are launching new ministries and discipleship opportunities—huddles, men’s and women’s groups, marriage and young adult ministries—so that everyone can find a place to grow and to help others grow. Discipleship is not about having all the answers; it’s about being one step ahead and inviting others to follow as we follow Christ. The harvest is plentiful, and God is awakening something new in our church and community. Let’s respond to His call together, living out our baptismal identity and sharing the good news in word and action.
Matthew 28:16-20 (The Great Commission, ESV) — 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Galatians 3:27 (ESV) — For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Go and make disciples of all nations. He's saying, let's just check here. Do you think this is a plural? What do you think? Yeah. And it's not just a little plural. This is an all y'all. All y'all go and make disciples of all nations. All of you followers of Christ. My role as a pastor is to help you and grow you and help you become more and more the disciples that God's calling you to be and help you then go and do it with others. And for me to go do it too. Not just tell you to do it. We all do this thing together. We are called. [00:37:34] (37 seconds) #AllCalledToGo
``You have been baptized into the life. Death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a gift to you. It doesn't matter if it happened when you were two weeks old. Or a hundred and two years old. It is for you. And it says to you. Not that you are great. Not that you're doing it because you have proclaimed your faith in me. It's saying I love you. Jesus is saying I am giving you in baptism. The Holy Spirit who's going to work faith in your heart. Every gift that I have for you. My whole life. Living perfect. I'm giving it to you. My death. I'm giving it to you. So you don't have to experience that kind of death. And my resurrection. I'm giving it to you. So you will rise as well. [00:41:54] (46 seconds) #UnconditionalLovePursues
And when you have strayed in your life. It chased after you. God used it. He said that's my kid who's running away from me. I'm going to go after him. I'm going to chase you down. I'm not going to let you go. I'm going to seek you. And I'm going to find you. And I'm going to bring you home. That's God's gift to you. It's not about how much you love him. It's about how much he loves you. Baptism is like a water that never stops pouring on you. That's who you are. And it declares to you again and again. This is good news friends. [00:42:51] (55 seconds) #ChildOfGodIdentity
So when you stare at that mirror and you doubt. Know this. God has no doubt. He says you are my child. That's what we are baptizing people into. This is good news. Amen. Amen. [00:43:46] (22 seconds) #TeachAndBeTaught
There's an awakening going on in this church and in this community. And God is saying I am ready to do great things in and through you. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Let's get to work people. Let's God loves you. You are saved by grace. Let's get to work. Together. Sharing good news. Living it out. So that we can baptize more and more and more people. Amen? Amen. [00:52:35] (36 seconds)
Upon your confession I tell you in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. You are forgiven. You are made whole. And you are the one he is calling to go out. And share this good news. That I'm forgiven and you can be too. Amen. Amen. [00:56:29] (19 seconds)
