Empowered Living: Unleashing God's Transformative Power
Devotional
Day 1: God's Power for Daily Living
God's power, referred to as "dunamis," is not limited to performing miracles but is essential for believers to live lives that reflect His glory and righteousness. This transformative power enables us to accomplish what we cannot do on our own, allowing us to live victoriously and in alignment with God's will. It is a power that is available to us today, demonstrated through Christ's resurrection, and it empowers us to live lives that glorify God. [01:11]
Ephesians 3:16-17 (ESV): "that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,"
Reflection: Identify an area in your life where you feel powerless. How can you invite God's transformative power to help you overcome this challenge today?
Day 2: Manifesting God's Glory Through Weakness
The purpose of God's power is to manifest His glory through our weaknesses. Our frail, earthen vessels are designed to showcase His strength, filling us with joy, peace, and hope, setting us apart in a world filled with despair. This power allows us to endure and love others deeply, even when it is challenging, demonstrating God's strength in our weaknesses. [09:28]
2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV): "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Reflection: Think of a recent situation where you felt weak or inadequate. How can you allow God's power to shine through your weakness in a way that brings Him glory?
Day 3: Transformation Through the Spirit
God's power transforms our nature, allowing us to live righteously and partake in the divine nature. This transformation is not about adhering to the law but about living by the Spirit, which produces love, power, and self-control in us. It is a power that overcomes fear and enables us to live disciplined lives, reflecting Christ's character. [22:37]
2 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV): "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire."
Reflection: Consider an area of your life where you struggle to live righteously. How can you rely on the Holy Spirit to transform this area and produce the fruit of the Spirit in you?
Day 4: Living as New Creations
The availability of God's power changes the dynamic of our natural weakness. It is not an excuse for sin but a call to live victoriously, empowered to live as new creations in Christ. We are not bound by our old nature but are empowered to live lives that glorify God and bear witness to His transformative work. [32:28]
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV): "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Reflection: Reflect on an aspect of your old nature that you still struggle with. What steps can you take today to embrace your identity as a new creation in Christ?
Day 5: Seeking Rare Power for a Common Life
Living by God's power is rare but available to those who seek it. It enables us to live lives that glorify God and bear witness to His transformative work, standing out in a world that often mocks the church. This power is not just for extraordinary moments but for everyday living, allowing us to reflect God's character in all we do. [47:55]
Colossians 1:11-12 (ESV): "May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light."
Reflection: In what ways can you actively seek God's power in your daily life? How can this pursuit help you stand out as a witness to His transformative work in a world that often dismisses the church?
Sermon Summary
In Ephesians 1:19, Paul prays for the Church of Ephesus to understand the surpassing greatness of God's power available to believers. This power, derived from the Greek word "dunamis," is akin to dynamite, signifying an explosive, transformative ability. It is the divine power that enables believers to do what they cannot do on their own. This power was demonstrated in Christ's resurrection and is available to us today. It is not just for performing miracles but for living a life that reflects God's glory and righteousness.
The purpose of this power is multifaceted. It is meant to manifest God's glory through our lives, demonstrating His strength in our weaknesses. Our frail, earthen vessels are designed to showcase His mighty power, not to highlight our limitations. This power fills us with joy and peace, allowing us to abound in hope and stand out in a world filled with despair. It strengthens us for endurance and long-suffering, enabling us to love others deeply and persistently, even when it is challenging.
Moreover, this power transforms our nature. While we were born in sin, God's power changes us from within, allowing us to live righteously. It grants us everything necessary for life and godliness, enabling us to partake in the divine nature. This transformation is not about adhering to the law but about living by the Spirit, which produces love, power, and self-control in us. It is a power that overcomes fear and enables us to live disciplined lives, reflecting Christ's character.
The availability of this power changes the dynamic of our natural weakness. It is not an excuse for sin but a call to live victoriously. We are not bound by our old nature but are empowered to live as new creations in Christ. This power is rare, but it is available to those who seek it, enabling us to live lives that glorify God and bear witness to His transformative work.

Sermon Clips
The word power there comes from the Greek word dunamis, and there's an English word we get straight from the Greek word dunamis. What is it? What does dunamis sound like to you? Dynamite. It is where we get the English word Dynamite from. The basic meaning of the word is ability to do. [00:01:18]
The power here is an ability to do what you cannot do on your own. It's god-given ability to do. In Luke chapter 6 verse 19, this word is there again. Those troubled by impure Spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him because power was coming out from him. [00:04:01]
We had this power in an Earthen vessel. What do you think Paul meant by what's the Earthen vessel? Our bodies like Clay, they're so fragile, they fall, they crack, they break, they have to be tenderized. But the reason we know that we're weak is not to prove to the world we're weak. [00:09:28]
Wouldn't it be wonderful for every one of us here everywhere we are in home at work in our neighborhood all the time constantly manifesting joy and peace, showing the world that the god of Hope is filling us and we are abounding in Hope. [00:12:02]
Being filled with all power, this is to answer the question what's the purpose of this power that we would be filled with all power unto what undo all long-suffering and endurance. If anything that there's too many of today is Christian wimps that give up when it's hard. [00:14:05]
The power of God in Me actually is producing what does it produce? He's not given us a spirit of fear but three things: love, power, and what? Us uh right discipline. It could be translated one of three ways: a sound mind, a disciplined life, or this beautiful term self-control. [00:26:13]
Power without control produces explosions, and explosions are not usually very beautiful. They tear things apart, they destroy and damage things. But God provided power so that we don't have to explode. We can Channel, we deal with anger, we deal with strong emotions, but we can deal with him under control. [00:27:59]
The law is not my answer, Jesus is. Why? Because what the law couldn't do, God did through his son in sinning his own nature so that our nature as Sinners can be changed into his nature as a righteous man. If any man is in Christ he is a New Creation. [00:34:26]
The world mocks the church, and as our it's our fault that they do is because we haven't been living in the surpassing greatness of the power that's available to us. And maybe we didn't inherit a church that was that way, but by the grace of God let's leave that kind of church to the Next Generation. [00:48:55]
The question is what do you want? What kind of Life do you want? You want a common life? You want to comfort Yourself by saying well Nobody's Perfect? I mean I'm no different than everybody else. I mean, that's not that's not how I want to live. I want to know what is the surpassing greatness of his power. [00:47:23]
The message needed to be backed up with some evidence, and you know what the evidence was to validate the message was? Yep, the life of the Believers, the way they lived. And we're back almost in the same situation today. [00:48:32]
God doesn't ask us to do something and not provide the power and the ability to do it, and that's living by faith. Now I will admit that those who actually Fully live this way are rare. They're rare. Guess what? They're rare in the Bible too. [00:46:48]
