Paul emphasizes the importance of understanding the power that is available to believers. This power is the same mighty strength that God exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms. This power is not just a theological concept but a reality that should impact how we live our lives. It is a power that enables us to overcome sin, live victoriously, and fulfill the imperatives of the Christian life. [00:218:449]

The structure of Ephesians, with its doctrinal foundation followed by practical imperatives, teaches us that our actions should be rooted in our identity in Christ. We are called to live out the truths of who we are in Him. The first three chapters are rich in doctrine, laying the foundation of who we are in Christ and what God has done for us. The last three chapters are filled with imperatives, calling us to live out the truths we have learned. This pattern of indicative followed by imperative is crucial. [00:310:84]

Paul's prayer is that we would not only know these truths intellectually but that they would transform our lives. The power of God is not just for our personal benefit but for the building up of the church, the body of Christ. Christ, who is the head of the church, has been given all authority, and this authority is for the benefit of the church. We are called to live in the light of this reality, recognizing that all things are under Christ's feet and that He reigns for our sake. [00:248:449]

Living in the power of God requires faith. We are called to trust in the realities of who we are in Christ and the power that is at work within us, even when we do not feel it. This faith enables us to fulfill the imperatives of the Christian life. We live by faith in these realities, not by feeling, not by sight. If you wait for the electrical current to flow through you and you feel the blessing, then you don't move. It's by faith. [00:1463:159]

The exaltation of Christ as a man to the right hand of God is a profound truth that should impact how we live. It is a reminder of the glory and privilege of being a Christian and the power that is available to us through our union with Him. God has taken human nature in the man Jesus and exalted him above every name that is named. God has raised up the human nature to himself a right hand as the place of honor that is the place of glory. [00:3088:519]

The power of God is not just for personal benefit but for the building up of the church. Christ, as the head of the church, has been given all authority, and this authority is for the benefit of the church. We are called to live in the light of this reality. The church is the recipient of the gift. It is Christ as head, not just Christ. It is Christ as head with all things under his feet. That's what the gift is. The gift is the reigning Christ. [00:1778:7]

Understanding the power of God is essential for living the Christian life. This power, which raised Christ from the dead, is available to us and enables us to overcome sin and live victoriously. It is not just a concept but a reality that should transform how we live. The power of God is not just for our personal benefit but for the building up of the church, the body of Christ.
