God often provides for us in ways and places we least expect, just as the psalmist describes being fed with honey from the rock. When we trust in the Lord, He brings forth blessings and sustenance from the most unlikely sources, reminding us that His provision is not limited by our circumstances. Even in seasons of dryness or difficulty, God is able to satisfy us with His goodness and meet our needs in supernatural ways. Let your faith rise today, believing that God can bring sweetness and abundance out of the hardest places in your life. [00:40]
Psalm 81:16 (NIV)
“But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you feel you are in a “rocky” or barren place? Ask God to show you how He might be providing for you in unexpected ways right now.
Jesus instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were clothed with power from on high, emphasizing that the mission He gave them could not be accomplished in their own strength. The Holy Spirit is God’s promise to every believer, equipping us with divine power to live boldly and witness effectively. This clothing is not just for emotional excitement but is a supernatural enablement for the work God has called us to do. Today, open your heart to receive the Spirit’s power, knowing that God desires to equip you for every good work and to make you a bold witness for Christ. [51:46]
Luke 24:49 (NIV)
“I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to wait on God’s empowering before moving forward? How can you intentionally seek the Holy Spirit’s clothing of power today?
The gifts of the Spirit are not for personal glory or entertainment, but are tools given for evangelism and building up the body of Christ. When the Holy Spirit moves, it is to reveal Christ, strengthen the church, and reach the lost. The early church saw miracles, healings, wisdom, and boldness as evidence of the Spirit’s work, and these gifts are still available and needed today. Let us desire the gifts not for spectacle, but so that Christ may be seen more clearly and lives may be transformed through us. [01:27:40]
1 Corinthians 12:7 (NIV)
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
Reflection: Which spiritual gift do you sense God stirring in you for the benefit of others? How can you use it this week to serve or encourage someone?
The Holy Spirit not only empowers but also sanctifies, setting believers apart to live differently from the world. True transformation is marked by a changed life—how we speak, act, and believe should reflect the work of God within us. When the Spirit sanctifies us, we become noticeably different, bearing fruit that points others to Jesus. Ask God to continue His sanctifying work in you, making you holy and ready for His purposes. [01:05:11]
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you sense God calling you to greater holiness? What practical step can you take today to respond to His sanctifying work?
When the Holy Spirit fills us, we are emboldened to speak and act for Christ, even in the face of opposition. Like Peter and John, who refused to be silent about Jesus despite threats, we are called to be a church that cannot help but proclaim the good news. The urgency of the mission is real—Jesus is coming back, and now is the time to get our house in order and reach the lost. Let the Spirit’s boldness rise in you, so that you will not shrink back but declare Jesus wherever you go. [01:39:04]
Acts 4:29-31 (NIV)
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Reflection: Who is one person God is prompting you to boldly share Jesus with this week? What step of faith can you take to start that conversation?
The Lord is always faithful to provide, often in the most unexpected ways, just as the psalmist declared that God brings honey from the rock—sweetness and sustenance from the hardest places. Today, we witnessed a beautiful transition in our middle school ministry, as Andrew and Haley, who have faithfully pioneered and nurtured this work, passed the mantle to Tony and Julia. This is not just a change in leadership, but a testimony to God’s ongoing work in raising up new leaders, dreamers, and risk-takers in our midst. We honor the faithfulness of those who have gone before and the courage of those stepping into new roles, trusting that God’s anointing and blessing will rest upon them.
We are reminded that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in our own strength or by mere willpower. Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were “clothed with power from on high.” This clothing is not about outward appearance, but about being covered, protected, and equipped by the Holy Spirit. The power of the Spirit is not a luxury for a select few, but a necessity for every believer who desires to live boldly and witness effectively. Without this divine empowerment, we cannot fulfill the Great Commission or stand against the opposition and spiritual challenges of our day.
The early church was marked by ordinary believers operating in extraordinary gifts—not for their own glory, but for the building up of the body and the salvation of the lost. The gifts of the Spirit are not relics of the past, nor are they mere spectacles for entertainment. They are tools for ministry, meant to reveal Christ, strengthen the church, and reach the lost. The Spirit’s work is both to sanctify us—setting us apart and transforming us—and to empower us for mission. When the church is truly clothed with the Spirit, there is a noticeable difference: lives are changed, strongholds are broken, and the name of Jesus is boldly proclaimed.
We are called to hunger for the real things of God, to seek a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, and to allow the gifts to operate in and through us. The promise of the Father is still real, the clothing of the Spirit is still available, and the purpose is still urgent—Jesus is coming back. It is time to move beyond lifeless Christianity and step into the bold, Spirit-empowered life God has for us. Let us open our hearts, receive the Spirit’s clothing, and become the witnesses and world-changers we are called to be.
Luke 24:49 (NIV) — > “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
The Holy Spirit is for all nations. God came to say whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord. Listen to me. That means for white people, black people, brown people, yellow people. Amen. Whatever color your skin is, God sent his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Amen. And if you think there's going to be a segregated place in heaven for just the white folk and just the black folk and just, I got news for you. You're wrong. And I wonder, how is it that we think we're going to get along up there when we haven't even learned how to get along down here? [01:21:10] (44 seconds) #HolySpiritUnitesAll
Think of clothing this way. It identifies you. You let somebody walk in with a uniform on and a gun on their side, you know they're law enforcement. Amen. It identifies them. You can see a guy at a crime scene that has markings on him. I've got all kinds of jackets and hats and everything else for schooling that I've been through for being a chaplain and I can strap on that jacket and that hat and I can walk into most any kind of critical condition and be approved to walk on across that yellow line and go in there and start ministering to those that are hurting. It identifies me. It identifies my training. It identifies what God has ordained me to do to help hurting people. And so when you think of clothing, it identifies you. Also your clothing will protect you. Let me say that again. When the Holy Ghost wraps you up, He'll protect you. There'll be times when the enemy unleashes an assault on you, but the Holy Ghost says, oh no, you can't even get to Him. Amen. [01:22:22] (67 seconds) #ClothedAndIdentified
In the same way, being clothed with the Spirit changes how people will recognize you. I'm going to just say this to you real nice. That's unusual, right? I'm going to say this to you real nice today. Listen to me. Since you got saved, if somebody hasn't looked at you and said something's changed about you, I'd be a little worried. You're not who you used to be. Something changed in you. Every one of us ought to have had an encounter that way. To where we are noticeably different to those that we used to run with. He gives protection against spiritual attack and He quits for kingdom work. [01:24:07] (45 seconds) #ChangedByTheSpirit
The gifts of the Spirit are not toys for entertainment. That's the trap the megachurch world has fallen into. That if we have this big event go on and it's caught on TV, the only way we can get our viewers back next week is to have something bigger happen. And if God doesn't show up, we've got to manufacture or make something happen so that it looks like that we're still hanging from the chandelier from week to week like monkeys going from limb to limb. Well, glory. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. Thank you. For entertainment they're for tools they are tools every gift of god is a tool for evangelism number one and building up the body of christ. [01:27:57] (53 seconds) #GiftsAreToolsNotToys
These boys got threatened. Doug, I don't mean to be picking on you. You shouldn't be on that corner pew today. Amen. You're supposed to be over there. Where are you supposed to be? to be boy they started beating on them boys and they said if y 'all don't shut up be all right if i use this kind of he said if y 'all don't shut up we're gonna keep on messing with you peter and john looked at them and said do what you got to do big boy but i'm not afraid of you what's more right for me to be afraid of you or to or for me to preach jesus high and lifted up do what you must to me but here's what i can promise you here's what i can promise you we won't shut up talking about jesus we need a church that won't shut up talking about jesus. [01:38:56] (53 seconds) #BoldnessOverFear
Today you've done lifeless ministry long enough you've done lifeless Christianity long enough I speak boldness over you today hallelujah I speak supernatural giftings over you today in the name of Jesus hallelujah hallelujah oh somebody's ankles are getting stronger right now hallelujah getting ready for the world call his.
