No matter what our personal "kryptonite" is—whether it's anger, fear, jealousy, or any other sin—Jesus gives us the supernatural strength to overcome it. When we feel weak or weighed down by our struggles, we can turn to Jesus, who has no weakness in Him, and He will empower us to rise above anything that tries to hold us back. Through Christ, we are not just saved from our sins, but we are made strong, able to do things we never thought possible, because His power is at work within us. [29:36]
Philippians 4:13 (ESV)
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Reflection: What is one area of weakness or "kryptonite" in your life that you need Jesus’ strength to overcome today? Will you ask Him for help and trust Him to empower you?
Sin tries to pull us away from God’s love and make us weak, but the love of Jesus is stronger than anything that could ever separate us from Him. Even when we feel pain or guilt from our mistakes, Jesus invites us to trust Him, lean on Him, and let His love fill us with new strength. When we allow His love to take center stage in our lives, the pain of sin leaves and the strength of God comes in, making us true superheroes for Him. [36:25]
Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection: When you feel weighed down by guilt or pain, how can you remind yourself that nothing can separate you from the love of Jesus?
Unlike any superhero, Jesus doesn’t fight with anger or bitterness—He fights evil with love, forgiveness, and kindness. When others hurt us or do wrong, our natural reaction might be to get angry or hold a grudge, but Jesus shows us a better way. He loved Zacchaeus, a man who had done wrong, and that love changed Zacchaeus’ life. When we follow Jesus’ example, we can forgive those who hurt us and show kindness even when it’s hard, letting His love transform us and those around us. [40:22]
Luke 19:5-10 (ESV)
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Reflection: Who is someone you find it hard to forgive or be kind to? What is one loving action you can take toward them this week?
When we choose to follow Jesus’ ways—loving, forgiving, and helping others—we become superheroes in our own world. Jesus calls us to go beyond just loving those who are easy to love; He empowers us to love, forgive, and help even those who are difficult or in need. As we let His ways fill our hearts, we find ourselves able to do things we never thought possible, making the world around us a better place and showing others the love of Christ in action. [41:49]
John 13:34-35 (ESV)
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
Reflection: What is one practical way you can help or encourage someone in need this week, showing them the love of Jesus?
Every day, we face choices that test our character—moments when we can choose to be angry, selfish, or unkind, or instead choose to love like Jesus. When we ask Jesus for help, He gives us the strength to respond with love, even when it’s hard. This week, challenge yourself to use your “superpower” by sharing, forgiving, or saying something kind, especially to someone who has hurt you. As you do, you’ll discover the true power of living like Jesus, making your world brighter and more loving. [47:42]
1 John 4:7 (ESV)
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
Reflection: What is one specific act of love, kindness, or forgiveness you can do today for someone who may not expect it? Will you take the challenge and see what God does?
Today, we gathered to celebrate the true superhero in our lives—Jesus Christ. While we had fun with the theme of superheroes, especially Superman, we recognized that even the greatest fictional heroes have their weaknesses. Superman’s kryptonite makes him powerless, but Jesus has no weakness, no kryptonite, and no limit to His power or love. Each of us faces our own “kryptonite”—the sins and struggles that make us weak and pull us away from God’s love. But the good news is that Jesus gives us the strength to overcome every weakness, every temptation, and every pain. Through Him, we are not just saved from our sins, but empowered to live victoriously, to love deeply, and to forgive freely.
We reflected on the early church, how revival broke out in a moment because of a supernatural move of God. That same power is available to us today. Jesus doesn’t just rescue us from danger; He transforms us from the inside out, giving us the ability to do what we could never do on our own. Paul’s words in Philippians 4:13 ring true: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This isn’t just a slogan—it’s a testimony for every believer who has experienced their own weakness but found strength in Jesus.
We also talked about how Jesus fights evil—not with anger or bitterness, but with love, forgiveness, and kindness. The story of Zacchaeus reminds us that love changes people more than condemnation ever could. When we follow Jesus’ ways, we receive His heart, and we begin to love, forgive, and help others in ways we never thought possible. Being a superhero for Jesus means making the world a better place, starting with our own hearts and homes.
This week, I challenged everyone—kids and adults alike—to use your “superpower” for good. Whether it’s sharing, forgiving, or showing kindness, let’s put love on the center stage of our lives. When we face our own kryptonite, let’s ask Jesus for strength and choose His way. And let’s come back ready to share how God used us to make a difference.
Paul gave us this promise in Philippians 4 and 13. Paul said this, he said, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Can I say it like this, that was Paul's testimony, that was what Paul believed in. Paul held every ounce of being in these words: I can do all things through Christ, because Paul saw weakness in himself but he never saw weakness in Jesus Christ.

But I love how Jesus fights. Jesus doesn't fight with anger, he doesn't fight with hatred, he doesn't fight with bitterness. Jesus fights bad things with love.

When someone was mean to Jesus he didn't fight back with anger, he used his superpower. In the Bible, Jesus met a man named Zacchaeus and Zacchaeus wasn't really nice because what Zacchaeus did, he sounds like the tax man Zac, Zacchaeus took money from people and kept it for himself. But Jesus didn't yell at him, Jesus didn't call him a bad guy, Jesus went to his house not to knock on the door to beat him up but Jesus went to his house to eat at his table, a bad guy, because at that table at Zacchaeus's house that day the greatest superhero in the world sat at a humble man that didn't know how to act right and Jesus displayed the greatest love and it was something about the power of Jesus's love that turns Zacchaeus's life around.

When you follow Jesus' ways, you'll get what Jesus has. And if you'll follow his ways, we will love others like we've never loved others before. We will forgive people that we never thought we could forgive, that bitterness had set in and said, I'll never forgive them for what they've done for me. But if the ways of Jesus gets inside of you, the superhero inside of you says, I can forgive them.

When we love Jesus and follow his ways, we all have the superpower of loving others and the, but not just loving others. There's a difference in just loving someone, but having love that Jesus has. You love them like Jesus would love them.
