1) "I heard a pastor, actually, my pastor used to make this statement years ago. I didn't like it, but it is true. He said, you are either going into a difficult situation, or you are in the middle of a difficult situation, or you're coming out of a difficult situation. And that really kind of summarizes life, because life is not perfect. How many have learned that? It's not always happy. It's not always joyous. In fact, you can be going along in life, and all of a sudden, things can turn in a second. It gets complicated pretty quick." [04:09] (40 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2) "We often think it is that, man, God's not going to give us more than we can handle. But in actuality, we tell you today that God will allow things more than you can handle. Welcome to Reach Church Paramount today. I don't want to lie to you. I don't want to paint a picture of life and Christianity that everything's always going to go good because these are misbeliefs that people have picked up along the way. In fact, Proverbs chapter 14 said, they're the way that seems right to man, but the way they're up." [06:01] (38 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3) "The truth is there are going to be problems they're going to be burdens in life and not like temptation god says he won't give you more in other words when it comes to temptation they're always the way out but when it comes to problems and issues in life they're going to be problems and issues that are going to be far more than you can handle you won't be able to handle them on your own in fact you won't be able to handle them on your own here is the reality and i've said this before and i want again re -emphasize it because we can get into this fantasy christianity that we're never going to have problems we're never going to have issues i'm here to tell you today as long as we live in this broken world there are going to be problems this world isn't perfect this world is broken by sin and therefore as long as you live on this earth there's going to be tears there's going to be pain there's going to be sadness there's going to be death why are we so shocked when people die people are eventually going to die you're eventually going to die again welcome to reach church today all of us we're eventually going to die that's the truth i'm not hoping you die today or tomorrow, but I'm saying is death is part of life, pain, problems, issues, and as long as we live on this side of heaven, we will suffer the consequences of loss, heartache, and pain." 4) "So why would God allow, listen to me, why would God allow us to face things more than we can handle. There's a couple of reasons. I'm not going to give you all the reasons. There's many reasons, but I'll give you just a few that maybe you're familiar with. There's a lot of problems that we are dealing with today, and maybe the mess that you're in today, let's just be honest, is because you made a bad decision. How many have made some bad decisions, and now you're dealing with the consequences of those decisions? Other times, we're dealing with decisions that somebody else made, maybe dumb decisions they made, and now we're feeling the effect of someone else's bad decision. It could be a spouse, could be a friend, could be a family member, and we're all affected." [28:00] (50 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5) "Never, never doubt the presence of God because of the presence of the storm. Just because there's a storm, don't let that cause you to doubt the presence of God. Jesus was in the boat with the disciples. You remember that story? And there's a storm and they're trying to, all of a sudden, the boat's about to capsize. They're taking in water. The disciples are all, you know, in panic. They don't know what to do. And where's Jesus? He's in the boat with the disciples. He's on the boat, but he's sleeping." 6) "Our faithfulness to God is not demonstrated by how easily we're able to bear the burdens that come our way, but our faith is demonstrated by our recognition that we cannot bear the burdens ourselves, that we have to trust in the grace of God who helps bear them with us. So why would God allow, listen to me, why would God allow allow us to face things more than we can handle. There's a couple of reasons. I'm not going to give you all the reasons. There's many reasons, but I'll give you just a few that maybe you're familiar with. There's a lot of problems that we are dealing with today, and maybe the mess that you're in today, let's just be honest, is because you made a bad decision." 7) "Think about this. You were created to need God and you were created to be desperate for him. When you recognize that you can't handle everything in life by yourself that you need to experience his supernatural power to be able to get you through it. Let me just say this, when you are suffering through pain, when you're going through some things in life, it's not about getting over it, it's about getting through it." 8) "Paul the apostle said in 2 Corinthians, he said, there is a thorn in my flesh. In 2 Corinthians 12, 8, and he pleads before God. Look at it. He said, I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away. What is this thorn in the flesh? We picture like this big old thorn coming on him, but many people, many scholars, many scholars, many scholars, many scholars, many scholars, many scholars believe maybe he was losing his eyesight. Maybe he was dealing with a sickness or disease." [38:42] (27 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
