"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature. He says sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Paul, again, is using what kind of language here? Figurative spiritual language. How many of you have put to death things like sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed? Right? You've put them to death, and yet you still experience them somehow?" [00:07:24] (26 seconds) Edit Clip

"Here, listen to what Paul says. There is no Gentile or Jew. There is no circumcised or uncircumcised. There's no barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free. And then he says, Christ is all and is in all. Now I want you to stop and think. Try to imagine. This is really hard. Try to imagine you're living in the time of Paul. And there's these people that are Jewish people who have been called by God. God's chosen people for thousands of years. You all follow me?" [00:10:44] (34 seconds) Edit Clip

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy, and dearly loved. And here again is that figurative language. He says, clothe yourselves. So when you put clothes on this morning, how many of you put on compassion? Do you have a compassion shirt? You got a kindness shirt? A humility shirt or blouse or dress, whatever. I don't want to just, okay. How about your gentleness shirt? Or your patience dress? Right? Paul says, clothe yourself with these things." [00:13:12] (34 seconds) Edit Clip

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Holy Spirit, from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Now, this verse, look, I've been around for a long time in the church, okay? How many of you have been in the church for like 40 plus years? Any of you been in the church for 40 plus years?" [00:16:39] (35 seconds) Edit Clip

"The message of Christ is the good news, the kingdom is at hand. Freedom for the oppressed, sight for the blind, love to the unloved, food to the hungry. Think of all the things that Jesus said, even look at the Sermon on the Mount, and the ways that Jesus talked about what kingdom would do in the world. That's the message of Christ." [00:18:21] (23 seconds) Edit Clip

"Paul says, let the good news dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with what, folks? What does that say in the orange there? I shouldn't have said orange because it may not be orange. With all wisdom. That word is Sophia in the Greek, which means wisdom. The word is not truth. And I know some of you are thinking, well, there can't be wisdom without truth. I'm not going to argue with you there." [00:19:37] (24 seconds) Edit Clip

"And in the community of Christ, I think it's incredibly important that we understand that this teaching and admonishment is through wisdom. And Paul goes on, and this is the, folks, this is the crazy part. What Paul says is to use all wisdom, and where does that wisdom come from as he says it here? Through what? Psalms, hymns, and songs, what?" [00:22:31] (25 seconds) Edit Clip

"But in all seriousness, please hear me. Please hear me. I believe wholeheartedly that God's plan, his wish, his hope for his church, his community of believers is that we could find a way to find peace as one body that we would figure out how to use wisdom to teach and admonish one another to do what? To do what? To live out the message of Christ." [00:24:15] (32 seconds) Edit Clip

"When you're going through your life within the community that you are surrounded with, whether that's your church, your small group, whether it's your family, whatever it is, when you have all decided that you're going to commit yourselves to kingdom living for the cause of Jesus Christ, that you remember, that you focus on the idea that the thing that will bring us peace is not an understanding and a unified understanding of all the parts of the Bible, but the thing that can bring us unity is the message of Jesus Christ." [00:25:14] (39 seconds) Edit Clip

"The message of Christ. The good news that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And all of the people, all of these people that God has created, who are not in the haves, who are not in places of power and authority, that all of those people have hope in the world. I don't believe that the message of Christ is that those of you who have can be happy because you'll have more." [00:26:02] (28 seconds) Edit Clip

"My hope is that as this church, as Five Rivers Church, moves forward as a community of believers, that you will place at the forefront of your minds and hearts, the message of Jesus Christ. Knowing and understanding that there are going to be parts of the Bible that you're going to agree on, and there are going to be parts that you won't, and it's okay. It's okay. We're members of one body called to peace." [00:27:11] (32 seconds) Edit Clip
