Jesus Christ has set us free from the impossible burden of earning God’s approval through our own efforts, inviting us to live in the freedom He purchased for us.
Galatians 5:1 (ESV): "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you still feel like you have to “earn” God’s love or approval? What would it look like to lay down that burden and trust in Christ’s finished work today?
[41:16]
The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in every believer, empowering us to live victoriously and walk in newness of life.
Romans 8:11 (ESV): "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you."
Reflection: When you face temptation or discouragement today, how can you remind yourself that the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit is available to you right now?
[46:36]
No outward action or spiritual “badge” can earn God’s favor; only faith in Christ’s grace brings us into right relationship with Him.
Galatians 5:2-4 (ESV): "Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace."
Reflection: Are there any “badges” or outward actions you rely on to feel accepted by God or others? How can you shift your focus to trusting in Christ’s grace alone?
[49:32]
Spiritual growth is marked by increasing love, faith, and the fruit of the Spirit, which not only transforms our lives but can impact our families, communities, and even the world.
2 Peter 3:18 (ESV): "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."
Reflection: If your spiritual life was measured in “growth rings” like a tree, what new evidence of growth would be visible this year? What is one step you can take today to grow in grace?
[54:45]
The only thing that truly matters is faith working through love, as we allow the Spirit to have full access to our lives and live out the freedom Christ has given us.
Galatians 5:5-6 (ESV): "For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love."
Reflection: Is there a relationship or situation where you can intentionally express your faith through love today, allowing the Spirit to work through you in a new way?

On this beautiful summer morning, as we celebrate the 4th of July and the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, it’s important to remember the foundation upon which our nation was built. America’s greatness was rooted in its goodness—a goodness shaped by godly principles and a pursuit of freedom that was never meant to be separated from faith. Our forefathers designed a system where the state would not interfere with religion, and where the pursuit of liberty was grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Yet, as we look around today, we see a nation that often drifts from those roots, and it’s a call for us to stand firm in what is true and right.
But there is a freedom even greater than political liberty: spiritual freedom. Just as our national freedom was purchased at a high price, so too was our spiritual freedom—bought by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In Galatians 5, Paul reminds us that “it is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” The relentless striving to earn God’s approval through perfect obedience to the law is a burden we were never meant to carry. Jesus died to set us free from the impossible pressure of performance-based religion, from guilt, shame, and the yoke of slavery that chokes out joy and hope.
Yet, many of us still live as if we are not truly free—hesitant, fearful, and stuck in old patterns, like prisoners who remain in the courtyard even after the gates have been opened. We forget that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead now lives in us, empowering us to live victoriously and abundantly. The challenge is to trust and activate that freedom, to live not by external badges or religious performance, but by faith expressing itself through love.
Growing in grace is the evidence of true spiritual freedom. Just as a tree’s rings reveal its growth, our lives should show increasing love, faith, and the fruit of the Spirit. This growth is not just for our own benefit, but for the transformation of our homes, our city, and even our nation. Grace changes everything. The invitation is open: to accept the freedom Christ offers, to grow in grace, and to let the Spirit of God have full access to our lives.
Galatians 5:1-6, 22-23 (ESV) —
> 1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
> 2 Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.
> 3 I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
> 4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
> 5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.
> 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
> 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
> 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Romans 8:11 (ESV) —
> If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
2 Peter 3:18 (ESV) —
> But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
``He literally died to set us free from performance -based religion. The very thing that the teachers were promoting in Galatians was the thing that Jesus came to eliminate. He shed his blood to end the drudgery of those 613 commandments. He died to remove us from the guilt of never being able to be perfect. [00:41:59] (25 seconds) #JesusEndsTheStruggle
Christ has set us free to live a life of freedom. It's for freedom he set us free. And there's no more work to be done. It's finished. When he set out on the cross, it's finished. He paid it all. He paid it all. There's no more work to be done. [00:43:03] (16 seconds) #ThrowOffTheYoke
It's often unintentional, but we choose to stay under the yoke of guilt, of shame, of fear, of hopelessness, instead of walking in freedom. It's like being released from prison, but just saying, I think I'll stay here for a little while. I think I'll stay in the courtyard because you're not sure you're really free. In the same way, God has already given you everything you need in Christ. So don't keep living like you're spiritually bankrupt. You don't have to live hesitant. You don't have to live fearful. You don't have to live stuck in scarcity, because abundance is already yours. [00:46:13] (19 seconds) #VictoryThroughSpirit
You can't have it both ways. You can't trust in Christ's work and the spiritual freedom he offers and try to work to gain right standing with God. It's either all me, which means I have to keep the whole law, all 613 commandments perfectly, or it's all Christ. [00:50:53] (16 seconds) #VisibleGrowthInFaith
The fruit of the spirit fully activated changes a household. The fruit of the spirit can change a church. The fruit of the spirit can change a city. Now, follow me here because your pastor is a dreamer. But activating the fruit of the spirit can change this city. And a city can change a nation. And a nation can change a world.
