Now thanks be to God who always leads us in Triumph in Christ and through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. This comes from a section Paul's letter to the Corinthians the second letter to the Corinthians which actually in some ways is a third third letter but we'll leave that beside it's the letter we call Second Corinthians. [00:07:05]

Paul believed that the Triumph parade of Jesus Christ could never be stopped and he believed that God's people had their place in the parade did you notice this phrasing there he says who always leads us in Triumph in Christ us not just Paul but all believers collectively together Paul wanted the Corinthian Church and he would want the church here in Meritt Island today to understand this that Jesus is their General their leader. [00:17:21]

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing I think about it as that that Triumph parade of Jesus Christ makes its way throughout the world and gives off this fragrance we could ask all of humanity how does it smell to you and if the aroma of that Triumph parade smells beautiful smells glorious the knowledge of Jesus Christ spread abroad in this world. [00:19:38]

For I think that God has displayed us the apostles last as men condemned to death for we have been made a spectacle to the world both to angels and to men again as I told you before Paul had some award relationship with the Corinthian Christians or at least some of them many of them didn't think very highly of the Apostle Paul and many of them thought too highly of themselves. [00:22:16]

We are fools for Christ's sake but you are wise in Christ we are weak but you are strong you are distinguished but we are Dishonored to the present hour we both hunger and thirst and we are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless and we labor working with our own hands being reviled we bless being persecuted we endure being defamed we treat we have been made as the filth of the world the offscouring of all things until now. [00:26:49]

The Corinthian Christians were concerned with the image of worldly success and power just the image of it so many of them despised Paul and the other desp Apostles when they didn't display those things and today there's no shortage of ministers who want to display this image of of worldly success and power and to be honest there's no shortage of Christians or at least professed Christians who that's all they they praise and honor in their ministers. [00:29:38]

We need to realize that as real and as powerful as that first parade is Roman Triumph parade baby I'm all in on that one March to the arena to die God wants me to be invested in that one as well friends there are two parades two processions that help us Define or understand aspects of the Christian Life and both of them have their place. [00:30:34]

For we are not as so many pedling the word of God but as of sincerity but as from God we speak in the sight of God in Christ you know Paul looks at this glorious place that the believer has in the Roman Triumph parade or the Christian analogy I should say of the Roman Triumph parade and we have a place in that friends isn't that amazing Jesus Christ invites you to share in his victory to share in his Triumph. [00:33:34]

Don't water down the word of God you you're want to part in this Triumph parade great don't water down God's message now you may suffer you may be reviled you may be regarded as filth and offscouring of this world because you've remained faithful to to God's word but Paul says no th those who are sufficient for the things they don't water down the word of God. [00:36:42]

One way to illustrate the Christian Life Is by a parade A procession but it's not one parade it's two one is a parade of Triumph and of Glory following after Jesus Christ Our Victorious leader and friends you have a place in the Triumph of Jesus I'm speaking to you as if you're Believers here this morning if you're not a Believer you can have a place in that Triumph of Jesus he invites you. [00:37:31]

I'm not trying to offend anybody here but I'll speak to you directly this Triumph parade isn't about you it's about Jesus the eyes of the crowd are not on you with this Triumph parade they're on Jesus he's the leader he's the Victor if you're looking for the parade that's all about you this isn't it Jesus Christ invited you to have a very small but real role in his great event his great production. [00:37:31]

Friends many people want to make the Christian Life all about One parade or the other and I'm here to tell you today that it's both look if you feel that your life is all one parade all you think about is the Triumph and and you never really dealt with the cross and dying to self and laying down your life in some meaningful way if that seems to be absent from your Christian experience friends God has something deeper for you to follow him in.
