And so if you would just take a few moments to do that, particularly if you're visiting with us, we'd love to get your information so we could respond to you and let you know more about our church. But if you have something, particularly a prayer request, we do look at those, and those are important. So if you can get that, it's going to be passed on to people who can pray for you. If you've got any other questions that you have, the Connect card is a way to do that. So take just a few moments, if you will, and record your attendance with that Connect card. Lord, open our hearts to hear and respond to your words of life in ministries of hope and peace. Amen. All right, let's worship together. [00:06:43] (12 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

It's a time of year that we love that often unites us and pulls us together as families and as a church, Lord. We're thankful for all that we have. That we are so grateful and thankful for. God, we recognize that there are other times throughout the years and even during this season, Lord, that we take so much of what we have for granted. And so we're thankful for those gifts that you have given us every single day of the year, every moment of our lives, Lord. These gifts that you have poured out upon us, Lord. May we be better stewards of those, Lord. [00:24:09] (40 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

We are thankful for your son, Jesus Christ, for his life, for his loving, for his teaching, for his death, and for his glorious resurrection. That gives us hope for the future. And now we just ask that you would gather around all of us, your children, as we pray now the prayer he taught his first disciples, as we say. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Alleluia Oh God, sometimes I pray, pour out your blessings upon us, but the truth of the matter is, Lord, you have poured out your blessings upon us, these friends and family and congregation, Lord. You have blessed us so much as a church. Lord, we do pray that you would find us faithful, faithful in the ways in which we serve, in which we give, in which we witness to you. We thank you for your church. We thank you for its future. And we pray for the eternal hope that comes from following you. [00:32:28] (35 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

So this morning, we are starting a stewardship series that I'm calling Ripples of Generosity. And I love that image of ripples. Because if you think of a pond that is completely still, and you throw in, you know, a rock, something in there, what happens? It sends out these ripples. It makes a change. And the bigger the rock that gets thrown in there, the more rocks, the more the ripples go out, and they touch, and they affect, and they change things. So it is when we give. When we give, we bring about change. Change to ourselves and our own physical well-being and our own mental state. But it also changes the world. It changes other people through our giving. When they are on the receiving end of our generosity, we see lives changed. [00:40:49] (56 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

I haven't craved anyone's silver, gold, or clothing. You yourselves know that. I have provided for my own needs and for those of my companions with my own hands. In everything, I have shown you that by working hard, we must help the weak. And in this way, we remember the Lord Jesus' words. It is more blessed to give. Than to receive. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Christian disciples realize this. We don't give transactionally. We give out of our faith. We give realizing that we are blessing the other person, the recipient. [00:43:46] (46 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

But I think we have to be careful because the best motive for giving is simply the joy of giving, not expecting anything else in return other than to honor God and to bless other people. We don't give so that, you know, we get to go to heaven, or we don't give because, you know, God's going to provide us a Learjet or whatever. We give because we watched people like Paul. Paul, we watched people like Jesus. [00:44:19] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

And so, as we now continue through these next two weeks of talking about stewardship, I pray that you'll be thinking and praying about ways in which your life have been affected and touched by the ripples of generosity within this church. And how you might be part of that giving as we then reach out with those ripples into our community and beyond. In the name of the Father and of the Son. And of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's pray. Your generosity has definitely changed our lives. We're thankful for those that are around us that we can see that grace, see that love, see evidence of your life within their lives. So I thank you for Margaret and David and for their testimony this morning. May that inspire us all as we testify to your goodness in our lives. We pray all these things in Jesus' name, amen.
