Giving and receiving are inseparable principles in the life of a believer, each fueling the other and opening the door to God’s provision. When you give to the work of the Lord, you are not only meeting needs and advancing the ministry, but you are also laying up fruit to your eternal account. God marks your generosity, and it becomes a part of your spiritual legacy, impacting both your life and the lives of those reached through your giving. Just as wise financial investments yield returns in the future, investing in God’s kingdom brings both present blessings and eternal rewards. Remember, both giving and receiving require faith, and as you participate in this divine exchange, you can stand confidently on God’s promise to supply all your needs. [25:55]
Philippians 4:15-19 (ESV)
"And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Reflection: What is one way you can intentionally give—of your time, resources, or encouragement—this week to participate in God’s work and trust Him to meet your needs?
Before God spoke creation into existence, the Holy Spirit moved over the chaos, bringing order and readiness for God’s word to be fulfilled. In the same way, when your life feels formless or chaotic, invite the Holy Spirit to move in your heart and circumstances. The Spirit of God is the ultimate “mess fixer,” preparing you to receive God’s creative miracles and breakthroughs. Don’t overlook the value of the Holy Spirit’s presence—He paves the way for God’s power to work in your life, bringing light, order, and new beginnings where there was once darkness and confusion. [36:37]
Genesis 1:1-2 (ESV)
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters."
Reflection: Where do you need the Holy Spirit to move in your life’s chaos today, and how can you invite Him to prepare your heart for God’s creative work?
Jesus calls out to the thirsty, promising that those who come to Him will be filled with rivers of living water—the Holy Spirit. Spiritual hunger and thirst are essential for experiencing the fullness of God; when you become “hangry” for the things of God, you position yourself to receive more of His Spirit. Stir up your desire for God’s presence, and don’t settle for spiritual complacency. Just as physical hunger drives you to eat, let your spiritual hunger drive you to seek, worship, and be filled again and again with the Holy Spirit, knowing that He is the source of true satisfaction and power for your life. [43:08]
John 7:37-39 (ESV)
"On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."' Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."
Reflection: What is one practical way you can stir up your spiritual hunger and thirst for the Holy Spirit today?
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time event but a continual lifestyle. Just as you need to refill your car with oil to keep it running smoothly, you need to be “be being filled” with the Spirit to walk in wisdom, power, and joy. This happens as you praise, worship, and give thanks—singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart to the Lord. The Holy Spirit changes your perspective, brings wisdom, and empowers you to face challenges with courage and joy. Don’t rely on yesterday’s filling; seek fresh oil and a new anointing daily, allowing the Spirit to transform your mind and actions. [55:20]
Ephesians 5:14-20 (ESV)
"For anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, 'Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.' Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Reflection: How can you intentionally make space today to be filled afresh with the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, or thanksgiving?
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is God’s promise for all believers, equipping the church to operate in power, prophecy, and supernatural ministry in these last days. Just as the early church was filled with the Spirit and transformed—timid disciples became bold witnesses—so too are we called to receive fresh fire and anointing for God’s purposes today. The Holy Spirit is still being poured out, and God’s wonders are attached to His Spirit. As you yield to the Spirit, you become part of God’s plan to build His church, reach the lost, and see deliverance and restoration in your generation. [01:12:23]
Acts 2:1-4, 16-18 (ESV)
"When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance... But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: 'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.'"
Reflection: In what area of your life or ministry do you need a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s power to step into God’s calling for you in these last days?
Today, we gathered to explore the deep connection between giving, receiving, and the essential role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We began by looking at Philippians 4, where Paul commends the Philippians for their understanding of giving and receiving—not just as a financial transaction, but as a spiritual principle that brings fruit to our eternal account. Giving is not just about meeting needs; it’s about participating in the work of God, investing in eternity, and allowing God to mark down our faithfulness. Just as wise financial investments benefit us in the future, so does our generosity in the kingdom of God, both for ourselves and for those who are reached through our giving.
We then shifted our focus to Pentecost Sunday, reflecting on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. From Genesis to Acts, the Spirit’s movement is foundational—before God spoke creation into being, the Spirit moved. In our own chaos and need, it is the Holy Spirit who prepares the way for God’s creative power to work. Jesus himself emphasized the necessity of thirsting for the Spirit, inviting all who are hungry and thirsty to come and drink. This hunger is not passive; it requires us to stir ourselves, to cultivate a longing for God’s presence, and to actively seek the infilling of the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not a one-time experience but a continual filling. Paul’s exhortation in Ephesians 5 to “be being filled” with the Spirit reminds us that just as a car needs fresh oil, we need ongoing encounters with the Holy Spirit. This is not just for emotional uplift, but for wisdom, courage, and the power to fulfill God’s purposes. The Spirit changes us, gives us boldness, and enables us to operate in the supernatural—just as Peter, once fearful, became a bold witness after being filled.
We are called to participate in this flow by worshiping, singing, giving thanks, and praying in the Spirit. This is how we “drink” of the Spirit, allowing rivers of living water to flow from within us. The outpouring of the Spirit is for all believers, for these last days, empowering us to be the church God has called us to be. Let us not resist or neglect the Spirit, but continually seek fresh oil, fresh anointing, and fresh fire, so that we may walk in wisdom, power, and the fullness of God’s calling.

There is as much to giving as there is to receiving. There is as much to receiving as there is to giving. They go together, right? So giving and receiving is important, and it's no accident that this made it into the Bible in Philippians chapter 4 because they are important.
Giving to the work of God, giving to the Lord, giving to see the ministry happen, causes what? Causes fruit to be laid to our account. In other words, it makes you a part of the ministry that is being done. The souls that are being reached with the gospel, with the truth of God's word, come on, you are a participant in that, and God does not forget that. He marks it down in your account. [00:23:41]
What this is showing right here is that when we give to the Lord here and to the work of God here, God says, I'm marking this down in your account. So I really am impressed by that. I'm like, Lord, God, I'm so thankful that you are letting me lay up into an account. right? Jesus said that he said, when you, he said, don't store up your riches and your treasures where moth and rust can come in and thieves can break through and to steal. He says, no, no. He said, where your heart is, there will your treasure be also. So he said, lay up for yourself, come on, in that eternal account. [00:25:40]
When you give here, man, I'm telling you what, it's not only helping the ministry at Restored Church do what God has called us to do, come on, but we are impacting eternity. You're impacting your own eternity. It's laid to your account, but then you are impacting the eternity of the people that we are able to reach. [00:26:18]
It's not because I desire a gift, but I desire that fruit may abound to your account. But I have all and abound, I am full. I have received the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable and well -pleasing to God. So my offering is really like a form of worship also. It is an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice that is acceptable and well -pleasing to God. [00:27:28]
When you are giving and when you are receiving, both require faith. I give by faith. I receive by faith. And without the word, you will have no faith. [00:28:40]
You may not think about this, but the Holy Spirit is pretty important. Here we are in the beginning when everything was being made and it did not happen without the involvement of the Spirit of God. Before God said, we like to talk about that, and God said, let there be light, and pow, right, there it was. Before He did that, the Holy Spirit moved. [00:35:50]
You sometimes are in a place where you're like, God, I need a creative miracle. God, I need something to take...place in my life. I need this to happen. I need that to happen. Let me tell you something. You need to get to that place that just like right there, that before God brings that to pass in your life, before you have that, you might need the Spirit to move in your life first. [00:36:16]
Have you ever been in a spot in your life where it was like, this is chaos? This is just a mess. Well, I have good news. The Holy Spirit is the best mess fixer that has ever been. [00:37:01]
You need to get hangry for Jesus. Come on, you need to get hangry for the things of God. You need to get hangry, come on, for the Holy Spirit and the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Come on, you need to be walking around saying, Lord, I hunger. Lord, I thirst. [00:41:35]
You need to begin to stir up. Come on, the gift of God is within you, but you need to stir up. Come on, a hungering, a thirsting, a longing for the things of God, for the Holy Spirit to be at work in your life. Because let me tell you something. Without the Holy Spirit, you will not accomplish anything for God. [00:42:48]
You cannot be hungry for the things of God and not have a relationship with the Holy Ghost. You cannot be hungry for the things of God and expect the works of God to go into operation in your life absent of the Holy Spirit. [00:43:12]
Even Jesus' earthly ministry did not begin until he went to that river. And when he was baptized and came up out of it, what happened? We saw the Holy Spirit descend upon him like a dove, and the voice of God spoke and what he said, this is my beloved son. Then what happened? His earthly ministry was now open for operation. [00:43:38]
He laid his position down as deity and took upon that flesh and was living life as a man. Come on. And so, really, he is literally our example. And if he needed that for ministry, then so do we. [00:45:41]
The more hangry you are, the more thirsty you are, the more you will get out of a message, the more you will get out of a worship service. Because I'm going to tell you something. Didn't they do a good job this morning? Amen. Haven't they been doing a good job? [00:46:42]
When you're hungry for the Lord, and you're thirsty for the things of God, come on, it don't matter what song we're singing. We could bust out a hymn. Come on, we could bust out something else, something new you never heard before. We could bust out spiritual hip -hop, and you could be the hickest person in town. You're going to get up in the middle of that worship and that praise to the Lord because you're hungering and you are thirsting for the things of God. [00:48:45]
There's something about actually the operation of the Holy Spirit you need to understand, is that there is something about that, that you need the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Come on, and you need to do more drinking sometimes and less thinking. [00:50:17]
The Holy Spirit works in a similar manner. You have the call of God, the purpose of God, and at times it will not be easy, and at times you will face intense opposition against you, but it's not just you. It's the Jesus in you. It's the plan and the purposes of God that are within you. Come on. And it's...If you're going to get there done, you're going to have to have that liquid courage, so to speak. [00:51:24]
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but what? Be filled with the Spirit. And you really study that out. That verse literally is worded this way. But be ye being filled. Be being filled. So what's that mean? That means that you cannot do the work of God only thinking. He expects you to have a consistent pattern of drinking. [00:53:58]
Wisdom will come from time with the Holy Ghost. Lord, how are we going to do this? Lord, how are we going to handle that? Go spend time praying in the Holy Ghost. Go spend time praising the Lord. So you say, what do you mean? Well, that's how you drink. [00:57:22]
You cannot drink with your mouth closed. So what do you mean? Look at verse 19. So he says, be being filled. In the next verse, he tells you how to drink. Be continuing to what? Look at verse 19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and in hymns and in spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. So you begin to praise him. You begin to worship him. Come on. You begin to sing. Sing. You sing in English. You sing in the Holy Spirit. And you begin to do that. What's happening? You are drinking. [00:57:59]
He that believeth on me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly. Remember rivers of living water? One translation says, Amazons of life. I like that. Why is that important? Fun fact. There's no river that carries more water than the Amazon. It's got the greatest volume of water in a river in the world. [01:01:05]
If you're going to live life to its fullest, like God has for you, you will not do it without the work of the Holy Ghost. You will not do it without the work of the Holy Ghost. [01:03:40]
We need the work of the Holy Ghost in our life. We need to be filled and not just filled one time, but we constantly need to be filled. Constantly staying in that flow of the Holy Ghost. [01:22:36]
Think about your car. How many of y 'all have a car? You drive a car. All right, now listen to this. Think about this. Your engine has to have what? Oil. Well, it has to have gas, but it has to have oil. Right? Do you only put oil in that motor one time? No, you've got to go back and what? If you're going to keep that motor moving and running right and everything working right in proper order, you're going to have to get refilled. You're going to have to get fresh oil. Right? Fresh oil. Right? Come on. And so you're no different. [01:23:13]
You start living a lifestyle of singing, talking to the Lord. Praise it. Make a melody in your heart. The Holy Spirit begins to lay on your heart, to raise your hands, whether you're at home, whether you're in church, whether you're just wherever you might be. Listen to Him. Do it. Yield to the Holy Spirit. What are you doing? I'm drinking. And as you begin to do this, come on, you will start realizing He's flooding you. You are getting wisdom. You are getting insight. Come on. His anointing is coming on you. There will be His ability that comes upon you. His wisdom will be upon you. You will be thinking different. You'll have a different and new understanding. Come on. You'll start to see how this comes together and how this works in this area and that area and how this mess will get resolved and how everything will come together. Come on. By the working and the moving of the Holy Spirit. [01:24:20]
