1. "So what's sabbatical? It's a time to take a step back from the demands of ministry, to take a breath. Perhaps to do something different to refresh our minds, body, and soul. A time to get even closer to God so that we can be refreshed and renewed for the next season of our ministry." [17:11] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "We need to stop and rest. We were made to stop and rest, not to keep going all the time. Now, working and having things isn't bad, but there should be limits. You don't need to work more hours or get more stuff to be happy. And practicing Sabbath reminds us that we're free from that kind of life. Stopping and resting is a way to resist the pressures of always needing to achieve or accumulate more." [30:54] (31 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "When we're exhausted, it's harder to love God and others. A lack of rest makes it tougher to be kind. When we're tired, we tend to be much more irritable and less patient. We need to rest to truly be loving and kind. So let's go back and remember what the Israelites first understood Sabbath to mean. Stop and rest. Stop and rest."
