Embracing the Holy Spirit: Truth, Inclusivity, and Experience

Summary

In today's gathering, we explored the profound narrative of Acts chapter 10, focusing on the story of Cornelius and Peter. This passage highlights the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the inclusivity of God's message. Cornelius, a devout man, receives a vision from God, instructing him to seek out Peter. Meanwhile, Peter, through his own divine encounter, learns that God's love and salvation are for all people, regardless of their background. This revelation is pivotal, as it underscores the breaking down of barriers and the universal reach of the Gospel.

We also delved into the critical issue of misinformation, particularly within the context of faith and doctrine. Just as miscommunication can lead to misunderstandings in everyday life, spiritual misinformation can hinder our understanding and experience of God's truth. The sermon emphasized the importance of discerning truth from falsehood, especially concerning the active presence and work of the Holy Spirit today. Many have been taught that certain spiritual gifts, such as speaking in tongues and miracles, are no longer relevant. However, the Acts narrative and the ongoing work of the Spirit challenge this notion, inviting us to embrace the fullness of God's power and presence.

The message also addressed the cultural and doctrinal shifts that have led to a diminished expectation of the miraculous in many Christian circles. It called for a return to the biblical model of the early church, where the Holy Spirit's power was evident and transformative. This involves not only intellectual assent but also experiential encounters with God, where His presence is tangible and life-changing.

In conclusion, the call was made for believers to seek a deeper, more authentic relationship with God, one that is open to the full expression of the Holy Spirit. This includes being open to the gifts of the Spirit and allowing God to work in and through us in powerful ways. As we navigate a world filled with misinformation, it is crucial to anchor ourselves in the truth of God's Word and the reality of His Spirit.

Key Takeaways:

- The Universality of the Gospel: The story of Cornelius and Peter in Acts 10 illustrates that God's love and salvation are for all people, breaking down cultural and religious barriers. This inclusivity is a core aspect of the Gospel, reminding us that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. [03:52]

- The Danger of Misinformation: Just as miscommunication can lead to misunderstandings in life, spiritual misinformation can hinder our understanding of God's truth. It is vital to discern truth from falsehood, especially regarding the active presence and work of the Holy Spirit today. [10:20]

- Embracing the Fullness of the Spirit: Many have been taught that certain spiritual gifts are no longer relevant, but the narrative of Acts and the ongoing work of the Spirit challenge this notion. We are invited to embrace the fullness of God's power and presence in our lives. [18:39]

- Experiential Faith: Church should not be merely an intellectual experience but a place where we encounter the living God. The early church model, as seen in Acts, demonstrates the importance of experiential faith, where God's presence is tangible and transformative. [39:09]

- Returning to Biblical Foundations: There is a call to return to the biblical model of the early church, where the Holy Spirit's power was evident. This involves being open to the gifts of the Spirit and allowing God to work in and through us in powerful ways. [46:34]

Devotional

Day 1: The Boundless Reach of God's Love
The story of Cornelius and Peter in Acts 10 is a powerful testament to the universality of the Gospel. Cornelius, a Roman centurion, receives a vision from God, instructing him to seek out Peter. At the same time, Peter has a divine encounter that challenges his understanding of God's love and salvation. This narrative illustrates that God's grace is not limited by cultural or religious boundaries. It is a reminder that the Gospel is for all people, regardless of their background or status. This inclusivity is a core aspect of the Christian faith, emphasizing that no one is beyond the reach of God's love and salvation. [03:52]

Acts 10:34-35 (ESV): "So Peter opened his mouth and said: 'Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.'"

Reflection: Who in your life might you be overlooking as a recipient of God's love? How can you extend grace and inclusivity to them today?

Day 2: Navigating the Perils of Spiritual Misinformation
In a world filled with misinformation, discerning truth from falsehood is crucial, especially in matters of faith. Spiritual misinformation can lead to misunderstandings and hinder our experience of God's truth. Many have been taught that certain spiritual gifts, such as speaking in tongues and miracles, are no longer relevant. However, the narrative of Acts and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit challenge this notion. It is vital to remain anchored in the truth of God's Word and be open to the active presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. [10:20]

1 John 4:1 (ESV): "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world."

Reflection: What steps can you take to ensure you are discerning truth from falsehood in your spiritual journey? How can you test the spirits in your daily life?

Day 3: Embracing the Fullness of the Holy Spirit
The early church experienced the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in profound ways. Many believers today have been taught that certain spiritual gifts are no longer relevant, but the ongoing work of the Spirit challenges this belief. We are invited to embrace the fullness of God's power and presence in our lives, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in and through us. This involves being open to the gifts of the Spirit and seeking a deeper, more authentic relationship with God. [18:39]

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (ESV): "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."

Reflection: Are there spiritual gifts you have been hesitant to embrace? How can you open yourself to the fullness of the Holy Spirit's work in your life today?

Day 4: Experiencing God's Presence in a Tangible Way
Faith should not be merely an intellectual exercise but an experiential encounter with the living God. The early church model, as seen in Acts, demonstrates the importance of experiential faith, where God's presence is tangible and transformative. This involves not only understanding God's truth intellectually but also experiencing His presence in a way that changes lives. As believers, we are called to seek encounters with God that are both real and life-changing. [39:09]

Psalm 34:8 (ESV): "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!"

Reflection: How can you create space in your life to experience God's presence more tangibly? What practices can you incorporate to encounter God in a transformative way?

Day 5: Returning to the Foundations of the Early Church
There is a call to return to the biblical model of the early church, where the Holy Spirit's power was evident and transformative. This involves being open to the gifts of the Spirit and allowing God to work in and through us in powerful ways. By returning to these foundations, believers can experience a deeper, more authentic relationship with God, characterized by the active presence of the Holy Spirit. It is a call to embrace the fullness of God's power and presence in our lives today. [46:34]

Acts 2:42-43 (ESV): "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles."

Reflection: What steps can you take to align your life with the model of the early church? How can you be more open to the Holy Spirit's work in and through you?

Quotes

Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. You may be seated in the house. Thank you. What a joy it is to be with you guys this morning. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Praise God. Speaking of joy, speaking of joy, speaking of joy, I wouldn't miss tonight if my life depended upon it. But you need to be here. Prophet Jeremiah has a word. But also speaking of joy, this is what was given to us. My little grandson yesterday. That's number three of 18. I don't know where the other 15 are coming from. But on behalf of Tom and Dana. We're just excited to welcome Cooper into the world. We're going to call him Super Cooper. Amen. All right. Well, that's enough of that. And I can't wait to hold him and to be with him this afternoon before revival. Turn in your Bibles to Acts chapter 10, Acts chapter 10 today. Thank you, Karen, for sharing what you did. And yeah, let her know you appreciate that. I appreciate the two testimonies and coming from young people, young people, my Lord, I want you to look at Acts chapter 10, Acts chapter 10. And be here for prayer tonight at five o 'clock. You don't want to miss it. Thank you, Lord. Who's here? First time. Raise your hand if this is your first time in the room. Thank you guys so much for being a part of Christ Fellowship. We welcome you. Acts chapter 10. Verse one. There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion. Of what was called the Italian regiment, a devout man. And one who feared God with all of his household and gave alms. Generously to the people. And prayed to God always. About the ninth hour of the day, he saw clearly in a vision, an angel of God coming in and saying to him, Cornelius. And when he observed, he was afraid and said, what is it, Lord? So he said to him, now listen to this. Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa and send for Simon. Whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do. And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants. And a devout soldier from among them who waited on him continually. So when he explained all these things to them, he sent to them to Joppa. Well, meanwhile, if you will, in Joppa. Well. Peter. Is. On a time of prayer and relaxation, if you will, as he can. And the Lord ministers to Peter and tells him, I need you to go to Caesarea. And then the Bible says in verse 30. 34. Then Peter opened his mouth while he is at Cornelius's house. The meeting has happened and now they're together. In truth, I perceive that God. Shows no partiality. But in every nation, whoever fears him and works righteousness is accepted by him. So the word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ. He is Lord of all. That word, you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism, which John preached. Now, verse 38. Peter is telling Cornelius how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth. With the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. Do you see it? Healing all that were oppressed by the devil. God was with him. And we are witnesses of all these things, which he did both in the land and of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. God raised him up on the third day and showed him openly. Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with him after he arose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that it is he who is ordained by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him, all the prophets witnessed that through his name, whoever believes in him will receive the forgiveness and remission of sins. Verse 44. While Peter was speaking these words. the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished as many as came with Peter because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. Verse 46, for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. I want to talk to you this morning about the danger of misinformation. The danger of misinformation. How many of you know that we are living in this age of not only of disinformation, but misinformation, which may be the same way, or the way of saying the same thing two different ways. We are living in an era of complete miscommunication. And when we miscommunicate, we give misinformation. Does that make sense? Now, if you are an owner of a company and you are leading people, you know how valuable communicating correctly is and making sure that all in your organization understands exactly what your values are, your mission, what you stand for, and how to propagate your company, and how to make sure that you have any standards and so that you can deliver consistently. Does this make sense to anybody? If we do not communicate correctly, not only do we suffer, but those beneath us suffer, and those to the side of us suffer, and in turn, those above us suffer. I remember back in the day, when Coca -Cola was venturing out, into China trying to introduce that beautiful, wonderful product, Coca -Cola, they had a problem with communication. They did not have a Chinese word for Coca -Cola. So they went on a search in order to figure out, what is it? Does it actually mean? And they just threw Coca -Cola out into the Chinese market. And they did not discover until it was a little bit, too late that Coca -Cola, the phrase means bite the wax tadpole. And it may also mean female horse stuffed with wax. Then they had to do a research and try to find out how do they translate or articulate Coca -Cola. How do they translate or articulate Coca -Cola? then they found the phonetic equivalent, and I don't even want to pronounce it, which literally means happiness in the mouth. I like that a whole lot better. Now, for those of you that love chicken. Anybody in the house like fried chicken? Now, I don't know if you like Popeye's. I don't know if you like Kentucky fried chicken. I don't know if you like Bojangles. It's all like eating a baby angel to me. I don't know. It's hard to mess up fried chicken. You can, but it is hard to mess up fried chicken. Well, the colonel did. In 1987, they introduced fried chicken to the Chinese market one time. And the slogan for Kentucky fried chicken is what? Finger licking good. And it came out in the Chinese market, eat your fingers off. That may be okay. I don't know. It's just like, it's amazing. Now, Pepsi, I'm not a Pepsi fan. I'm a Coke fan. And in Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan, come alive with the Pepsi generation came out as Pepsi. We'll bring your ancestors back from the dead. This communication can be tragic in many, many ways, especially when Clairol, you know, a division of Procter and Gamble many years ago in 2006, introduced it to the German market. And y 'all remember that famous mist stick curling iron. I don't know much about it, but I am told it was like, a miracle in the making. But it was introduced to the German market, mist stick. And then they discovered that the word mist is slang for manure. Well, Dr. Karen talked about enlarging your information bank. I'm helping you out right here. I'm giving you some information that you can use at Christmas, I'm sure. The price that you pay for miscommunication is horrendous. You know, it's been said that if you say something long enough, talk to me, people will believe it. Joseph, Joseph Gabel said this, if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. And then he added, you know, that the second phrase of that, which we don't hear quoted very often, the first part, if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. And then he added, and you will even come to believe it yourself. child. I was given a lot of misinformation. And disinformation. And I heard it so often that I began to believe it as truth. And the people that were communicating it to me even believed it themselves. I don't think anybody misled me on purpose. misguided me. But it affected my whole life for up to 30 years. It narrowed my perspective and pushed me into a corner of where I could not even open up my mind to believe anything else. I was so maybe the term is indoctrinated to a degree in certain areas that I wasn't even remotely open to hear a new perspective. Where we are living at in our culture right now is a place where we are living in a very dangerous place. There are good doctors and scientists and biologists and people in medicine and people in the mind world understanding, dissecting, unraveling how thought happens. Have been talking about things that we just don't see as even a possible remote reality or possibility. Do you understand what I'm saying? Let me give you an example then I'm gonna get back to my text. Who would have ever thought 20 years ago that we would have people serving in our Congress that would refuse to say that a man cannot get pregnant? See, now that would have shocked you. I'm talking about 25 years ago, but now it's like okay, is it really possible? I don't know. I mean, you would look at people that are in the education field, the medical field that study human anatomy and know body parts of a boy and the body parts of a girl. And you would think that they would come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no way that a man could have a cycle and even get impregnated. The guy that ran for vice president was Kamala Harris went so far to put tampons in a boy's bathroom. We literally have come to a place in our culture, well, I'm a loss for words. I don't even know how to tell you how deranged you have to be emotionally and mentally to completely uncheck all science and all medical articles and research that has been done throughout the millennial that a boy cannot have a baby and cannot have a cycle. And what is so alarming is that the people of Minnesota knew this about the guy and said, we want him to lead us. Now, I'm not being political, I'm just saying a point, but the political thing's over with for the next three months, I guess. I don't know. It's about to get ramped up all over again. I don't know. But you understand what I'm saying, and I'm not trying to be offensive. I'm just telling you that if you say something long enough, and not only do you say it, but you say it with conviction. You say it with clarity, and you put all of your moral fiber behind it, and put your character on the line, and you look straight into the eye of people, and you say it hard enough, long enough, with enough conviction, people are going to say, you know, I never thought about that. That may be true. It is imperative. It is imperative. That we intercept the nonsense that is being taught, because the generation that are moldable and fashionable, that are being raised up in these homes, and being raised up in school systems, not everyone, but in school systems that promote this, this is all those children are hearing. And they're going to hear it. They're going to hear the lie long enough from people they admire and respect that are going to say it with conviction, and with clarity, and with all of their moral fiber and character behind it. These impressionable minds are going to look at themselves and say, I know I have the inner workings of a boy, but I may get pregnant. I may get pregnant. I may get pregnant. I may get pregnant. now why did I go all the way around there to bring a point home about how I was indoctrinated I may not have been told that a boy can be a girl or a girl can be a boy or a boy can get pregnant or a boy have a cycle but I was taught and told something just as dangerous if not more so and perhaps even more damaging to the overall work of Christ than someone having a mental cramp for a period of their life and going psychologically physiologically things are not right here's what I was taught I was taught as a good boy that certain parts of this Bible are no longer applicable to our lives that certain things that happened in the book are no longer to be expected and more specifically two things that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is no longer for today and speaking in tongues is unnecessary and not to be expected for our day and you're thinking well what impact did that have on you it had a very damaging impact upon my life now I may not be responsible for what I hear but I am responsible for the impact that it has on my life to the degree of my responsibility of believing in what they said does that make sense I cannot stop the deluge of information I'm talking about the current of information that is being poured to us but I can't choose on whether or not I believe it but I can't choose I can't listen I don't blame all of my mentors and leaders and my my denomination for 30 years of not believing the whole book I believe the whole book but I just believe that certain pages had an expiration date attached to it it, that only this section of the Bible is for you in everyday living, but these few passages came like they're with milk, a stamp on them that said, only valid through, only safe for this period of time. Does that make sense? Now, I don't know about you, I respect dates. When the date on the milk carton says, do not drink, are valid through, up to two days prior to that, I get a little nervous. You will never see me drink a glass of milk after the expiration date. I've been taught. Okay. You could die. I had food poisoning before, and I don't like it. Now, Karen is a rebel in a lot of ways, but she'll look at it, and it's a week old, past the expiration date, and I'll say to her, honey, you think it's safe to drink? She go, yeah, drink it. I said, you drink it first. I'm not thirsty. You drink it. I kid you not, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, just this past week. Now, I love venison, and so we laid out all kinds of venison. You know, we're going to have a lot of meat. Meat's good. Meat's great. Meat is good. And so I laid it out, thawing it out, because I was going to put the spices with it. Well, I forgot. She forgot. And so. It's been thawing for like a day. And I said, baby, that meat's not good. It's been out in room temperature, because I took home ec. I know. took home ec back in the day. You can't have meat hanging out for three or four hours, chicken, things like that. And I said, we can't eat that. She goes, it'll be fine. I said, baby, it's been out here 12 to 18 hours. Room temperature. Room temperature. Oh. Eat it. Eat it. I said, baby, I'm not eating that meat. I threw the whole, I threw a whole deer away, basically. Yes, because I ain't getting sick. I ain't getting sick. I ain't getting sick. I'm not getting sick. I'm not getting sick. I'm not getting sick. So I put out some new meat. I'm alive. I don't know why I told you all of that, other than. There is. There is a. a section in the body of Christ at large that believes that there are certain passages in the scripture that have an expiration date. And I was told that and believed that and it affected my mind, my openness to even receiving the fullness and the deeper things of God. Let me tell you what I was taught. I was taught that miracles and the working of miracles were no longer valid for today. As a young, impressionable new convert, sitting under that teaching, reading those books and listening to those tapes from well -respected men and women, I took it hook, line, and sinker. Because not only did I hear it once, I heard it twice, I heard it three times from God. I heard it from very influential people in my life and I thought there's no way that they could be wrong and no way that they would mislead me intentionally. And in their mind, they were not wrong and they were not misleading me intentionally. They're just repeating what was told to them. And you see how it gets passed down. And I feel in America, which has in the last literally, probably a hundred years, the most dominant influence on American culture has been Baptist people. Of which I am one of them. And cut my teeth on that, so I'm not being critical. But you think about it, the largest denomination in America outside of Catholicism is the Southern Baptist Convention. I'm not sure where it is today. There were, at one time, over 40 ,000 Southern Baptist churches in America. The largest churches in America at one time were Southern Baptists. So now, they're pumping out five seminaries, multiple state -run schools, Baptist universities, and young people by the tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands are attending these universities and guess what's being taught? That the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is no longer valid. Speaking in tongues is unnecessary. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are not available today. The five -fold ministry outside of preacher or pastor and teacher and evangelist, the apostle and prophet, no longer exists today. So our culture, America, has been completely indoctrinated by a bunch of lies that were told over and over and over and over again until a generation has now believed it and are raising children in that same mindset. That is why Pentecostalism and charismatic life like what we experience are looked down upon by mainstream society because we are outside the norm. That's why it's a struggle that when you try to tell people where you go to church, well, I go to so -and -so. What kind of church? They want to know, what kind of church is that? And you say, Free Will Baptist. They go, oh, great. You say, Independent Baptist. If you say Southern Baptist, they put their arm around you, pat you on the back. Good choice, my son. But the moment out of your mouth comes, I go to anon -denominational church. See, we even have code words because non -denomination is a polite way of saying a tongue -talking church for the most part. Or a charismatic church. So we're just trying to slide up under the radar hoping that they don't decipher and interpret what we're coming up under, right? And so we'll say those kinds of things. And then they'll ask you another question. Well, what kind, exactly what kind of church is that? Well, you know, it's, you won't, listen, you won't, you won't go, you won't go deep at the beginning. You just try to break the, we like to raise our hands during worship. Oh, what else do y 'all like to do? Well, we don't sing out of a hymnal. We have words on the screen. And we don't have a choir, we have a band. Well, see, right now, you're really, you're really pushing the envelope and they're beginning to understand because they're really going for one question. They want to know the answer to this one question. And what else do you believe? Well, we, you know, we believe in small groups. We believe in community. We believe, we believe in altar calls, fire tunnels and all those types of things. Well, do you believe in tongues? Well, the moment that you say, we speak in tongues or that we are a church of the gifts of the spirit, immediately a wall comes up between you and them. And now all of a sudden they've got a problem with you because you have been brainwashed by a group of people that are giving you misinformation, disinformation and miscommunicating to you what they've been taught. Does this make sense to anybody? So I'm on the plane constantly, and people ask me, now, I just don't avoid it anymore. I just come out and say it. They go, what do you do? Well, I'm a preacher. What kind of preacher are you? Well, let me just tell you what's happening at our church. And I said, we are a charismatic slash Pentecostal slash tongue -talking, devil -stomping, laying hands on the sick, casting out demons. And they're looking at me like I've lost my ever -loving mind. And I love every second. I love every second about it, because I get the opportunity for 45 minutes to confront the disinformation and miscommunication that they've been exposed to all of their life. When you sit next to someone on a plane and say, let me tell you what God's doing, and I pull out my iPhone, and I begin to show them pictures of people that have been healed, miracles happening right in front of their very eyes, all of a sudden, they're, their background becomes like this. And they'll go, I've never seen anything quite like that. And I said, well, let me show you some more. I'm sitting next to a guy on the plane. He's an atheist. He just doesn't believe in God at all. And used to go to church, then got all upset about the church, and just turned the other way. And we got to talking. Very, very, very influential individual, a home builder in the Northeast, and with his family. And we're talking, and I said, can I show you something? He goes, certainly. I said, let me tell you what God's doing at our church. I said, we've been in revival since 2018, and God's meeting people in the water. Now, with an atheist, they're open for everything. Now, when you say that to a person of denomination, about miracles happening in the water, they automatically get defensive and want to fight. They just want to have a problem with how things are happening in the water. With an atheist, he's wide open. Oh, really? I go, yeah, take a look at this. And I could feel him pulling closer and closer. Yeah, leaning in to what, I mean, physically leaning in. 30 to 45 minutes later, I'm just unfolding everything, and I just backed away. I'm done. Holy Ghost, get him. I didn't go in for the kill. I didn't go in for repentance. I didn't go in to kneel in the aisle for salvation. I just simply, I just simply wanted him to have something to think about. I promise you, I promise you, I promise you, there is a brand new version. And I don't know if it's brand new. It's not brand new, but it is something that is confronting this mindset that the Bible has certain pages and passages and chapters that are off limits and nothing more than historical perspectives. There is something happening within the church that says, God, your book, all of it was written for our understanding and for our learning. And especially the New Testament was not only written for a historical perspective, but it is a pattern of life and a pattern to be modeled It is something to be followed. It is something to be duplicated. And it's going to get very, very uncomfortable for those who refuse to believe in the whole book, especially the New Testament. Are you all right? Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. I want to make sure if you quote me today, because I know how this will get on the internet, that he's called these men, they're not dangerous men. They're not going to violently come after you by no means. What they're teaching has been destructive to the body of Christ. One, Justin Peters, you don't know him. He's an internet sensation. But he's always hypercritical of anything charismatic. Number two, John Piper. One of the most brilliant men. I love to listen to him. I'm not closed to him. I love to listen to him. I love to hear what he has to say. He oftentimes gives a perspective that is fresh in certain areas. But I also like to listen to him stumble over tongues and Pentecostalism and charismatic. Because I love to, I thought, I love to listen to him. That's the talking points. John MacArthur. Who has been probably one of the most devastated, has one of the most devastated impacts on charismatic Pentecostal viewpoints. But what's happening now is it's flipping on him. Because the more he's negative about it, the more people are interested in learning about it. R .C. Sproul. The late R .C. Sproul. Matt Chandler. And others like that. I can't even think of a better way to say this. could go on and on and on you have to you you have the reformed brethren that are underneath this teaching and are propagating a perspective from the biblical narrative that neuters and spades the power of the church not the power of the gospel some of these men are the greatest orators when it comes to the blood the cross atonement but i'm talking about they have shredded shredded shredded the power of the local new testament church shredded it shredded it now the reason i'm telling you this is for this reason god is raising up a new breed and a new generation of men and women who will be the first to be born again will not be afraid to confront the misinformation that's been preached and taught from our pulpits for decades and the best way for us not so much intellectually which is necessary to confront it is by demonstration of the power of god i'm going to say it again the best way to confront someone who's says miracles no longer happen you show them a miracle that has happened and then you be quiet the best way to confound someone who says that the gift of faith and miracles is no longer applicable is to have them tune in to a service and watch a lady that's been deaf for 40 years who had a piece in her ear missing and a three -second encounter come up out of the water and she says that wasn't there and then she begins to hear her own voice for the first time in 40 years what are you going to do with that how are you going to argue against that my lord i feel this presence in this house it's in that Peter goes to Cornelius' house and he preaches and the Holy Spirit fell on the group. Do you remember what I read? As he's preaching, the Spirit of God fell and the Greek word is epipipto, which literally means it was as if the Lord fell upon their physical frame. It is the same word that is used with the prodigal son when the father came and it says, and the father fell on the neck of his son. That he literally buried himself over and into his son. Wrapping him up and Peter's preaching to Cornelius and he's telling them that Jesus is the only way. The Holy Spirit fell upon all of those that heard the word, his friends and his household. The Holy Spirit came upon them. It was a physical, tangible, experiential moment. You have to be very careful that where you go, where you go to church, that there are moments that need to happen from time to time where the Spirit of God literally walks into the room, shakes us, touches us, overwhelms us, overcomes, falls upon us. Church can no longer be just an intellectual experience. Listening to sermons, listening to talks, listening to sermons, being encouraged by the word, which are all necessary. There has to come a time as the book of Acts demonstrates where church is not only where I listen to a person talk, but I encounter the presence of the living God. That there is such a connection between man and God that God walks into the room and disturbs the entire meeting. Acts chapter four, as they were praying, the Bible says, as they prayed, the place was literally shaken. The foundations of the building were rattling. Why? Because God walked into the room. Paul and Silas in Acts 16, in prison, began to praise and begin to pray. And an angel came through the door, unlocked the fetters, and they walked out. and the building shook because of the presence of God. Can you imagine, church, what would happen in Dawsonville, Georgia? Oh, if he just walked into this room, and I mean, he flexed his muscle, and he says, I'm home. I'm in my place of dwelling. I have found a place of rest, and the building literally shakes. My Lord in heaven, the Holy Ghost falls upon them, and then look what happens. There's a manifestation, a church manifestation, a biblical manifestation, and they all began to speak with other tongues. They all began to speak with other tongues. Listen, if you're told that this is no longer available today and is told to you another day, it's not enough by people you love, respect, and are mentoring you and shepherding you, and they say it to you long enough, you will develop a mindset, and you will also develop a closed mind that that was for then and not for now. So you walk into the room, and you look at this passage, and you smile and say, wasn't that cute? They certainly needed the Holy Spirit back in that day. But now? All right. Our era, our culture, we're more sophisticated. We have the canonization of the Scripture. We have the Bible. We have each other. We don't need that. Do you know what is the fastest growing segment of the body of Christ in a world today? It is not Reformed baptism, Reformed theology. You have to be taught not to believe. You have to be educated on what not to believe. It doesn't come innate. When you're born again, you don't think, well, I'm sure part of that's not for me today. No, you look at that holy letter, and you say, I can't wait to digest, to indulge myself into the word of the living God, and you literally believe every word, you believe every phrase, you believe every example, and you go, yeah. But then somebody comes along and begins to miscommunicate what God intended and tell you that you can't believe that. And the reason? The reason the fastest growing segment in the world is Pentecostalism and charismatic is this right here, is because they are seeing and feeling and hearing a demonstration of the Holy Spirit, and many of them have to read the Bible by themselves without an instructor, and the Holy Spirit is able to teach them. And to bring revelation to them, what I did for Peter, I will do for you. What I did for James, I'll do for you. And what I did for Mary, I'll do for you. What I did for Esther, I'll do for you. What I did for Moses, I'll do for you. So it matters where you go to church. Do not let your three -year -old or your six -year -old choose the church that you go to simply because they love to swing from monkey bars during church time. Don't allow a teenager that's chasing a girl at another youth group or a boy or a girl that's chasing a boy and you say, Mama, I get so much out of that church. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. What do they teach? What do they believe? Well, at least they're going to church. And the next thing is you pick up your life. And move your entire family into that church. You don't see a miracle. There's no expectation of a miracle. There's no nowness of God. There's no visitation of the Holy Spirit. There's no habitation of God. And you spend the most pivotal years of their life in a dead, dying, cold. Listen, as soon as that girl goes somewhere else, now you're stuck. Hallelujah. Just help anybody. Touch three people. I know you don't like to do it, but I'm going to have you do it anyway. And tell them it matters where you go everything that's in that book is going to be in that book. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And the book of Acts, those five books, all of them, but I'm just highlighting those five. Are the blueprint for the contemporary modern church in America. Now we get a lot of doctrine from the other epistles, the pastoral epistles, all of those things. We get a lot of doctrine. That's just as important. Do you hear what I'm saying? But the book of Acts is called the Acts of the Apostles or the Acts of the Apostles. The Acts of the Church. This is what our... pattern, our model, our example is. Every time we gather, we ought to expect the Holy Ghost to fall. Every time we gather, we ought to expect people to be baptized with the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues. It may make you uncomfortable. Hang around long enough and you won't be uncomfortable. Uncomfortable. You'll think, my Lord, I'll live my entire life without this. And you will swing into that direction. I'm telling you, you hang out just long enough and then you're going to find biblical precedent. You're going to find scripture after scripture, example after example, not only from the historical biblical narrative, but also through history throughout all of time. How in the world were he said in the last days, I'm going going to pour out my spirit upon all flesh, do we think that it will be anything less than the book of Acts? It will be equal to, if not greater than the book of Acts. And everything that happened in Acts will happen at the end times. I'm telling you, everything that happened in the book of Acts will happen in the end times. How? Come on now, stand your feet all across this room. Lift your hands. Father, we bless you. We honor you. We thank you for what you're doing. God, we need you in this hour. We need you. We need you right now. God, we need your manifestation of your power. Lord, you didn't leave us as orphans. You gave us the Holy Spirit, not just to comfort us, to teach us, and to be with us, to be our paraclete, but God, to empower us, to enable us, to bring the kingdom of God, Lord, into us. to this time -space dimension. You didn't call us and give us the Holy Spirit just to survive. But Lord, you gave us the Holy Spirit, you on the inside of us, so that we become your hands and your voice and the kingdom of God goes forth, Lord, violently in the spiritual realm. Thank you, Lord. If you've never been baptized with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of praying in the Holy Ghost, praying in tongues, I'm gonna give you 30 seconds to get down here. I'm gonna pray for you very quickly. If you've never been baptized with the Holy Spirit and you wanna be filled with the Holy Ghost, I'm telling you, I want you to come right now. 30 seconds, come as fast as you can right now. Maybe one, maybe five, maybe 10, just come right now. Stand right here in front of me. Anybody in this room? This is your moment. This is your moment. This is your moment. Anybody, anybody? I'm waiting. Come on. Come on, are there others? Come on, are there others? Are there others? My Lord. Come on, sweetie. Yeah, right here, right here, right here. Are there others? Are there others? Come right now. Yeah, people are responding. Yeah, I'll wait. Come on. Come on, just about another five or 10 seconds. Come on, if that is you, that is you, that is you. Right here. My Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Now, here's what I'm gonna ask you guys to do. I need my prayer team ready to move quickly, very quickly in just a moment. Now, listen to me. Church, you're gonna see the power of God in manifestation. He will validate his word through the preaching, all right, with signs and wonders. The Holy Spirit's coming upon these individuals. And when we pray for you, the baptism of the Holy Ghost is gonna come upon you. It's not a feeling. It's not an emotion. But by faith, I'm receiving everything God has for me. Does that make sense? When I put my hand on your forehead and I say, be filled with the Holy Ghost, at that very moment, out of your belly shall flow these rivers of living water. That means, now look at me, you're going to connect your tongue to your spirit, man. And out of your spirit, you're going to begin to pray, not out of your head, but out of your spirit. Do you hear what I'm saying? praying in the Holy Ghost. Why? Because we just talked about it in the Holy Ghost. We just talked about it in the Word. They all spoke in tongues and misinformation. And I receive the truth today. Thank you for your grace. Now would you pray with me? Whoa. Would you? That's enough. Really? It's cute, isn't it? Well, then, let me just bring everything back to you with a new Bud. I will say these things to you. Notice this, man. It says we will lead those mass telecast because you are now of Christ as you will receive You say God says what His word is, but what those are saying is not the truth is the truth. Here's what that means. I'm going to pretend. Now, we imagine we're not with, for example, who knows this guy. What knowledge those young people may have today. You are. We need your knowledge. We need the Judgment. right there right there right there right now just out of your belly out of your belly out of y 'all's belly in the name of Jesus there it is let it go let it go let it go let it go keep going yeah praying in the Holy Ghost right now there it is keep going being baptized being filled with the Holy Spirit being filled with the Holy Spirit my Lord in heaven my Lord in heaven there may be one or two others I'm about ready to dismiss you but there may be one or two others come right now if that's you right now come right now if that's you y 'all hear this praying in the Holy Ghost right now praying in the Holy Ghost the whole front's praying in the Holy Ghost this is Acts chapter 10 how important it is if you're within two to three hours from Dawsonville I'm telling you get here tonight get here tonight South Georgia somebody's watching you need to get in the car right now you can make it by six o 'clock somebody's watching from North Carolina up part of Murfreesboro and Nashville area you need to get into the car right now somebody from the other side of Huntsville you need to get in the car right now it's going to be so so impactful tonight Lord we bless you we magnify you have your way in this house God Jesus come Jesus come Jesus come have your way in this room baptize people Lord with fire in the waters tonight heal their broken bodies come on just another 60 seconds come on church let's magnify him right here come on begin to lift your voices in the Lord come on begin to magnify the King Lord we celebrate you today we thank you God for what you're doing the manifestation of your power in this house for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing we thank you God for what you're doing We'll be right back.
