1. "So, in these passages, we are told the Father sends the Spirit, the Spirit proceeds from the Father, but it's the Son who sends the Spirit. So, in these passages, we are told the Father sends the Spirit, and the Father sends the Spirit at the Son's request and in the Son's name. So, who is sending the Holy Spirit? And the reason I bring this up, because this is one of those passages that people point at and say the Bible contradicts itself, you can't trust it, even the Bible is self-contradictory. No, the Bible here is not contradicting. Jesus is not contradicting Himself. Jesus is painting the picture of an eternal triune God."

2. "So, sometimes we hear the children in our church will say things like, I've asked Jesus to come into my heart. Now, you cannot find that phrase in Scripture, Jesus lives in our heart, but it is consistent with the Bible. So, it's the testimony of Scripture. What does it say? Christ is in us, the hope of glory. It's the Spirit of God that dwells in us. Christ is in you. So, I just point this out to say this is not the Bible contradicting itself, this is the Bible fully understanding we serve a triune God and it is the Spirit of the triune God who dwells within us."

3. "So, if you want more of the work of the Spirit in your life, then fall in love with God more and more. And remember, as you're falling in love with God, we are falling in love with a complex God. Now, I hope that word complex is theologically correct. I'm sure someone will point out. If it's not, but what I'm trying to say is this. When you fall in love with a person, you fall in love with someone that has strengths and has weaknesses, right? We are complex persons. And the person that you are in love with the most is the person you're probably most aware of all of their weaknesses as well as their strengths. But that's part of that love relationship."

4. "And don't you delight in the fact that this God loved you even though you were an object of His wrath. And instead of keeping you an enemy, He did what? You know, He sent His own Son to die on the cross for your sins. So that you could become. A child of God and no longer be an enemy. And you delight in that kind of love. And so because you delight in that, now you look at this command to love your enemies and say okay. This is going to be a challenge, but I've so enjoyed the love that you have for me. Now, how can I share that love with someone else?"

5. "The Holy Spirit is not just some kind of superpower or some kind of force, but Jesus is putting the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the context of a relationship. And in this relationship, we love the Father, we love the Son, we love the Holy Spirit, and it's out of that love that we obey His commands and His words and His teachings, and it's out of that love relationship that we receive and we experience the person and work of the Holy Spirit."

6. "We are talking about the Spirit of the indwelling God who is doing something in us, through us, and around us that we are not able to do by ourselves. It is not just sleight of hand. It is not just attributing what we're doing to someone else. It is speaking of the Spirit of God doing something that we are not able to do, right? It's not illusion."

7. "It is Christianity and only Christianity that says, The words of Jesus makes it very clear that the promise is that the Spirit of God will dwell with you, be in you, and make his home in us. This is remarkably different than what any other religion offers, and it's the words of Jesus. Now, we actually believe the Spirit of God dwells within us. We do not believe we are God. We don't think we are Jesus. That's a mental health problem, but we do believe that the Spirit of God dwells within us."

8. "So, yes, there is some mystery there, but it is not magic. There is some mystery. Point number five, so when we hear about the work of the Holy Spirit and you see everything that is being done by the Spirit and you think, well, I want more of that. how do we get more of the Spirit's work in our life? How can we be filled with the Spirit? Well, I'm not going to try to answer that question completely, just trying to get something out of the text we have. And to say this, if you want more of the Spirit's work in your life, the first step towards that is fall in love with who God is."
