Embracing the Easy Yoke: Living in God's Kingdom

Summary

In today's message, we explored the profound invitation of Jesus to take on His easy yoke, a call rooted in the dignity and knowledge He imparts to us. This invitation is not just a call to a simpler life but a call to live in the Kingdom of God, where His presence and action are evident in our daily lives. Jesus looked at the crowds with compassion, seeing them as sheep without a shepherd, and this is a reflection of our world today. As followers of Christ, we are all called to ministry, not just pastors, but every believer, wherever they are, is a bearer of the Kingdom.

Living in the Kingdom means embracing the Great Commission, beginning with discipleship and fostering a community that reflects the Trinity's work. This foundation makes it easier to lead others into obedience, avoiding the pitfalls of legalism and tradition. Jesus' ministry was about proclaiming the Kingdom's availability, teaching its nature, and manifesting its presence through inexplicable events. We are invited to step into this reality, whether in a church, office, or any other sphere of life.

The Kingdom of God is not a distant reality but a present one, accessible to anyone who seeks it. Seeking is a continuous journey, a way of life that keeps us connected to God. It is not about half-hearted attempts but a wholehearted pursuit, as God desires to be sought. This seeking transforms us, allowing us to live in the interactive presence of God, where His action is evident in our lives.

The righteousness of the Kingdom goes beyond the actions of the scribes and Pharisees, focusing on the heart and mind. It challenges us to move beyond mere actions to a deeper righteousness that aligns with God's Kingdom. This transformation is not about conforming to human expectations but about living in the freedom and joy of the Kingdom, where we are set free from the burdens of legalism and tradition.

Quotes

Living in the Kingdom of God means embracing the Great Commission, beginning with discipleship and fostering a community that reflects the Trinity's work. This foundation makes it easier to lead others into obedience, avoiding the pitfalls of legalism and tradition. [00:02:12]

Jesus did three things in his own Ministry which was to proclaim the availability of the kingdom of God to everyone regardless of their standing in life and then to teach what it was like and finally to manifest its presence in events that could not be explained in a natural way. [00:03:43]

Seeking is the key to understanding how to enter into the kingdom of God and live there. One of the problems that many Christians today have is that since they're Christians they have found it and they stop seeking but seeking is the way we live. [00:09:09]

God wants to be wanted he wants to be sought and that's why he doesn't just run over us and he's there he is there with the new birth from above and that's a part of what we have because you may have not have noticed that in John 3 the discussion is about how to see and enter the kingdom of God. [00:09:46]

Unless your goodness goes beyond the goodness of scribes and Pharisees you will not enter the kingdom of the heavens. Now we need to spend a few moments on that what does that mean what is beyond the righteousness Of The Scribe and the Pharisees. [00:28:00]

Beyond the righteousness Of The Scribe and the Pharisees is where we experience the kingdom. It's where we begin to enter interactively into the kind of change that allows us to live constantly in the action of God in our lives. [00:30:51]

Joy is a pervasive sense of well-being and that Springs up in the cheer I love that word cheer we don't we've associate with cheerleaders and all sorts of silly stuff but I I love it when Jesus says in the old translations be of good cheer you know that's where we live in the kingdom of God. [00:40:02]

Joy is consistent with sorrow because it is a realization of what's really going on in the World At Large under God it's Joy and uh you know as I think it is true that Joy is one of the hardest things we have associated with God. [00:43:15]

Our dignity as followers of Christ comes from being bearers of the Kingdom. It is not about human attitudes or control but about recognizing our worth in God's eyes and living in the freedom and joy of the Kingdom. [00:59:03]

We have to step out of that and we do that by stepping into the kingdom of God and it doesn't matter how this person looks or what has happened with them or what they're thinking and so on I meet them as God's creature I meet them as something for God which God has a destiny. [01:02:12]

Seeking allows you to be drawn out of that and it allows you to change and you become different and God cooperates with that project. [01:03:15]

We need to find a way to be a lot more open and honest that but you see religion tends to make you closed and dishonest and stepping into the kingdom means that we begin to feel the Redemptive power of the Kingdom moving into all of that and setting us free. [01:08:59]
