The gospel—the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection—is the foundation upon which everything else in the Christian life stands. It is not just another belief among many, but the very core of what it means to follow Christ, and nothing else comes close in importance. When you hold fast to this truth, you are standing on what truly matters, not on secondary issues or personal preferences. The gospel is the message that brings life, hope, and transformation, and it is the one thing worth taking a stand on above all else. [05:13]
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (ESV)
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you have been tempted to make something other than the gospel your main focus? How can you intentionally shift your priorities to stand firmly on the good news today?
Through Jesus’ death for our sins, you are offered complete forgiveness—no matter your past, your mistakes, or your failures. This forgiveness is not based on your own efforts or good works, but on what Jesus has already accomplished. When you receive Christ, you are given a new identity as a beloved child of God, welcomed into His family, and seen as holy and righteous because of Jesus. This new identity is a gift, not something you earn, and it changes everything about how you see yourself and how God sees you. [09:49]
John 1:12 (ESV)
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
Reflection: Is there something from your past that you struggle to believe God has truly forgiven? How might embracing your new identity as God’s child change the way you see yourself today?
The resurrection of Jesus is not just a historical event—it is the source of supernatural peace and power for your life right now. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, you can have confidence that God is for you, that He has power over every circumstance, and that even death is not the end. This peace surpasses understanding and anchors you in the midst of anxiety, uncertainty, and fear, reminding you that you are covered by the authority and love of the King. [12:06]
Philippians 4:7 (ESV)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: Where in your life do you most need the peace that only God can give? What would it look like to trust in the power of the resurrection in that area today?
To reach others with the good news, you are called to lay aside personal preferences, political identities, and secondary convictions, becoming “all things to all people” so that some might be saved. This doesn’t mean compromising your faith, but rather prioritizing the gospel above all else and building bridges instead of barriers. When you do this, you share in the blessings of the gospel and open the door for others to experience forgiveness, identity, and peace in Christ. [27:24]
1 Corinthians 9:22-23 (ESV)
To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
Reflection: Who in your life might need you to step outside your comfort zone or lay aside a personal preference so they can hear and experience the good news? What is one practical way you can do that this week?
The good news of Jesus is not just something to be believed, but something to be lived and shared. God wants you to walk in forgiveness, freedom, identity, and peace—and to invite others into this life-giving truth. When you order your life around the gospel and let it shape your words, actions, and relationships, you become a bearer of good news to a world in desperate need of hope. This is what God wants for you, and it is what He wants to do through you. [38:44]
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Reflection: What is one way you can intentionally share the good news of Jesus—through your words or actions—with someone in your life today?
Today, the focus is on what truly matters most: the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ. In a world obsessed with self and self-help, it’s easy to become inwardly focused, forgetting the call to reach beyond ourselves and share the hope we’ve received. The gospel, meaning “good news,” is not just a religious term but an ancient proclamation of joy and victory—news so significant that it changes everything for those who receive it. At its core, the gospel is the announcement that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, offering forgiveness, a new identity, and peace that surpasses understanding.
Forgiveness is at the heart of this good news. No matter what’s in your past, God’s grace is greater, and through Jesus’ finished work, you are utterly forgiven. This isn’t about what you do or how you perform; it’s about what Christ has already accomplished. Along with forgiveness comes a new identity—you are welcomed into God’s family, not just as a distant admirer but as a beloved child. This identity is not earned but received, and it shapes how you see yourself and others.
The resurrection of Jesus is the guarantee of this new life and peace. If Christ is truly risen, then the same power that raised Him is at work in you, giving you a peace that the world cannot understand or take away. This peace is not dependent on circumstances or political outcomes but on the unchanging reality of God’s love and power.
It’s tempting to get caught up in debates and secondary issues—politics, social causes, or theological disputes—but these are not of first importance. The early church, and the writers of the New Testament, were laser-focused on the gospel, refusing to let anything else become a litmus test for belonging or faithfulness. The call is to become all things to all people, not by compromising convictions, but by prioritizing the gospel above all else, so that as many as possible might share in its blessings.
This is the foundation to stand on, the truth to hold fast, and the hope to share. Everything else, while perhaps important, pales in comparison to the life-changing, world-altering good news of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (ESV) — > Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
The good news is it's not what you do. It's what Jesus did. That's the good news. It's what he did. And he takes all of our sin, all of our sin, all of our improprieties, all of our stuff, and puts it on his back. So when he says on the cross, it is finished, he means payment for sin is over. It's finished. No one's working out their sin anymore. No one's trying to impress God with my works anymore. It's over. [00:08:00] (30 seconds)
When you give your life to Christ, the good news is you get a new identity. You actually get into the family of God. Not everyone's a child of God. John 1:12 says, for he who received Jesus receives the Son of God and has become a child of God. You become a child of God. God loves all people. God loves all people. God cares for all people. But not all people are children of God. Children of God are people who get an Identity of God. They come into the family. They get the identity of Jesus when you receive him. And you have that as an identity. [00:09:28] (36 seconds)
If Jesus actually came back from the dead and the Bible is true, and it says the same spirit who brought him from the dead gives life to your body. That's what it says. That means that there is a power that you have as a follower of Christ that should give you a peace that passes understanding. That's the other thing I think the gospel gives us, is peace. Peace. Like, hey, no matter how bad it is, you, God has me, he's got cause he has power. He's got me. It's gonna be fine. I gotta have peace and past understanding. And if it's not fine, and if I die, I go to heaven. And that's really fine. It's really fine. [00:11:31] (37 seconds)
Is it really any surprise that anxiety is at epic proportions as we've forgotten or not embraced the gospel? If there isn't somebody who cares about you and has power and is for you, you should be very anxious, very freaked out. [00:12:10] (17 seconds)
I was under the identity of the most powerful entity in the place. I was under his authority and there was resource. In fact kids, people are giving my kids Reds players are giving my kids baseballs. I'm going kids, this is not the way a normal Reds game. They don't know I was under the identity of that. And that changed everything. It was good news. [00:16:28] (27 seconds)
Those things that we use as litmus test questions are never used as litmus test questions by Jesus from the Bible. Never are. This is what it is. This is the gospel. This is the good news. And when somebody adheres this and holds onto it, it is an unbelievably believable thing. Which is why when you understand the good news, you want as many people to have the good news as possible. And when you see it happen, it changes your life spiritually. You change, you change. [00:18:17] (31 seconds)
When I talk about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, I'm never wrong. When I talk about the good news, the good news of Jesus Christ, it's life giving. It's mesmerizing. This is what God doesn't just want from you, he wants it for you. He wants you to understand the gospel, the good news of the gospel, and to walk in forgiveness and freedom and have your identity and have a piece of past understanding because you know you're good. [00:38:32] (36 seconds)
It is good news for you to be a good news bearer, to come from that industry as a person who was enslaved yourself to now feeling the good news and bring the good news to those girls and for us to partner with you in some way. It's really. It's really our pleasure. It really is. Thank you for letting us be with you. [00:42:35] (21 seconds)
